You always seem so sincere, but whenever you make political posts I can help but wonder if you're trolling. I've never met another purported adult, liberal or conservative or otherwise, that views the political divide with such childlike simplicity.

Is the long game? Are you recycling brainless #conservativeandproud memes from the internet to see if anyone will bite, then cackling at the reaction?

A huge part of the appeal is watching people work themselves into a tizzy over someone else's opinion. Like, who honestly cares that much over what another person believes to be true or not?

Through the power of an opinion that I'm not 100% serious about, I can control people's emotions. This is better than the Sims.

In my own defense, I'm a political science student. I'm literally going into a career that's all about analyzing people's beliefs and trying to sway them in particular directions. :P And given the number of otherwise reasonable people who have strangely conservative beliefs around me, I tend to take sudden politically conservative viewpoints seriously until proven otherwise.

I guess it doesn't actually matter either way. If you say something stupid and mean it, you're kind of stupid, and if you say something stupid because you're playing magnifying-glass-and-ants, you're kind of stupid. (I have the same attitude towards most aspects of online personas. For instance, if you say you want to kill yourself because you really want to kill yourself, you need professional help, and if you say you want to kill yourself because you're absolutely desperate for someone to pay attention to you, you still need professional help.)

Actually, this could probably make a separate controversial opinion. I'll post it now.

The first time I posted that I was a Republican, people made a bunch of assumptions (both about me personally and the party in general. Believe it or not, not everybody in the GOP has been brainwashed by Fox. And just like you very rarely have someone who believes in the Democratic Party line 100%, not every Republican follows the GOP 100%) and started the name calling. People do get angry and they don't always stay civil.

FS provides me with hours of entertainment.
