Is this really going to be a thing again? I feel like I'm 9 again.

Honestly it is easy to understand: Sheik=Zelda. Zelda=Female. Thus Sheik is also a female. Even if she changed her outer genitalia she would still be a woman.

I'm not sure about this new Bill Trinen news, but I just want to say that I'll be assuming that Sheik is female and Zelda because the new Smash Bros. game model of her you can definitely tell that she has a chest, either that or he has massive pecs. Alternatively she could just be taped and have padding there, but I believe that it's not quite that intricate.

That's TP Zelda in disguise though, not OOT Zelda. Her dressing up as Sheik instead of transforming her body to male's makes sense seeing as she doesn't really need to hide and maybe doesn't even have the same powers as OOT Zelda.

I suddenly want to go in a drawthread on /d/ and request Zelda sprouting dicks from her ears.

Oh, Bill Trinen. I love him for necroing the eternal arguments from my tweeny bopper years. Ah how it takes me back ♥ I used to redline Sheik's crotch on OOT concept art to bother adamant bulge deniers.

I did think it was obvious that Zelda was disguised as a dude ninja, but I don't really care if she magicked a dick or packed one. What I do care about is more people talking about Link going through the sexual confusion stages of grief, only to realize after coming to terms that it's okay if it's Sheik that it was just crossdressing Zelda all along.

Honestly, I've always wondered what Nintendo's stance on Link's "maturity" is. Like, the game ends with Zelda saying she'll send him back to live out a real childhood, and then MM really implies that's not going to happen for this kid, and I've always thought it's really messed up that he experienced what he did...he had the mental experience of a child, but his physical functions were that of an adult...like he was thrown into full blown pubescence in an instance, and I wonder what that was supposed to be like?

I don't think it was intended for anyone to think too hard about it, and I wouldn't care for any "official" word of god on it. Outside of the officially licensed manga, Link doesn't have a canon personality to base it on. I sit in the crowd that thinks that while he aged physically, he never aged mentally, and that's far more interesting to me to think about than a suddenly bamf and competent adult non-explanation.

I think I'd just be annoyed if there was a way late commentary to "settle" that, but I'm still sticking with my own haha.

From what I think of Link as an adult in OoT, he was too focused on omg must save world now!!! and basically feeling really urgent about it to pause long enough for the emotional turmoil of his situation to sink in.

(If something happened with adult!Link at the end of MM, I'm not sure about it, and I would say I don't care about spoilers since it's such an old game BUT I'm actually in the process of playing it now, so I'll withhold judgment until I see it myself xD)

When I first played OoT (when I was 8) I really thought Sheik was a guy. And with the amount of magic all Zelda games have I just figured that the whole reveal scene in the church was done with a switching spell or something, that made them trade places. So even though there's been a lot of people saying he's not a he but Zelda in disguise and thus a she I personally find it kind of hard to let go of my own personal headcanon. After all, it's been about 15 years of me believing him to a be a guy.
Anyway. I kinda figured Zelda and Impa would send a different Sheikah to look after Link? While Zelda was training for her own destiny such as learning how to rule a country, shoot a bow and getting to know everything there is to know about the Goddessess, the sages, the Triforce and her own family history and how they're all tied together.
Sure Link and his mission were important, but important enough to let Zelda run after him and risk the future of an entire world by possibly letting Ganon get his hands on her? No way.

This pretty much falls very inline with my own personal head canon that Sheik was his own person and another Sheikah. The only difference is I sort of think of Sheik and a disguised Zelda switching out to talk to Link throughout the game because Zelda just seems the very hands on type (but anytime its high risk its been Sheik who could wait around in the open for Link to find his way to a temple).

Maybe it's a sock.

Haaaaa, I'm with you. I'm okay with Zelda crossdressing or growing a dick but either way Zelda is still Zelda. I just wish she had stayed awesome when she put on a dress.

Recently the marketing director of Nintendo of America said "The definitive answer is that Sheik is a woman — simply Zelda in a different outfit" and the Zelda tag on tumblr freaking exploded.

For me it's got nothing to do with shipping, but the fact that people believe a mere costume can change your fucking bone structure.

Sheik's bone structure is vastly different from Zelda's. There's no way she did not magically transform her body.

I hate the debate because you can see the misogyny at work because of COURSE Zelda can't do anything unless she's a guy.

Nevermind that Sheik spends most of his time standing around, get nearly one-shotted by Bongo-Bongo, and really the only thing he does that isn't giving you a song or being mysterious is freeing Ruto.

Meanwhile, Zelda, although she gets kidnapped, helps unblock doors, blasts Ganondorf so that Link can not only get the Master Sword back but actually kill the guy, and then helps to seal that motherfucker.

Haha I remember this! I always thought it was weird people were like "But Sheik was so badass!" because honestly...not really. S/he stood around plucking on a harp-lyre thing and talking in really florid purple prose. Good at throwing Deku nuts.

i am and have always been on the guy!sheik bandwagon because i liked the idea that him, link, and zelda could hang out afterwards and be cool dudes about fixing hyrule together. also it fit into my convoluted EVERYTHING COMES IN THREES OR SEVENS thing about the zelda universe in general. anyway, yeah, i recognise that i'm being totally weird by being vehemently defensive of the idea that sheik is a separate person, but in my defence, he did seem to have a different personality from zelda.
