Re: So, do you ship it? (TW: [W]Incest)
Re: So, do you ship it? (TW: [W]Incest)
(Anonymous) 2014-08-20 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)That's great! What I don't get is when someone wants to get into something, but feels that if they do, they MUST ship a certain ship even if they don't want to, as if there's no other fannish activity they can engage in. Like, dude? Ship it if you like it. Don't ship it if you don't like it. It's NOT THAT HARD.
Re: So, do you ship it? (TW: [W]Incest)
(Anonymous) 2014-08-20 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)They're not saying "I must ship something and whelp, Wincest is the only thing there." They're saying that they think they'd enjoy the show but they know that they would inevitably wind up shipping Wincest. It's an important difference, I think.
Re: So, do you ship it? (TW: [W]Incest)
(Anonymous) 2014-08-21 12:01 am (UTC)(link)Oh...Huh. But that makes even less sense. Why would you actively prevent yourself from shipping something if the ship appeals to you? That just seems masochistic to me.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-21 12:02 am (UTC)(link)Re: So, do you ship it? (TW: [W]Incest)
(Anonymous) 2014-08-21 12:13 am (UTC)(link)But...but...if they really thought incest was wrong even in fanfic, why would they ship it in the first place? Wouldn't that hit their squick button and make them not ship it? And if it doesn't hit their squick button, it obviously means they don't find it so wrong -- in fanfic, at least. Really weird logic.
Re: So, do you ship it? (TW: [W]Incest)
(Anonymous) 2014-08-21 12:35 am (UTC)(link)I don't know. It makes perfect sense to me.
Re: So, do you ship it? (TW: [W]Incest)
(Anonymous) 2014-08-21 03:11 am (UTC)(link)But then why would they care that it's incest? Is it like "I'm not gonna ever try heroin because I just know I'm going to get addicted" or something?

Re: So, do you ship it? (TW: [W]Incest)
(Anonymous) 2014-08-21 12:16 am (UTC)(link)Huh, I get that, I guess. But I don't get why someone would actively prevent themselves from getting into a fandom they liked just to avoid getting desensitized to something they weren't into. If they HATED it and didn't want to be exposed to it, that's a different thing, but that's not what they seem to be saying.
