I never think about characters in terms of stereotypes. I guess I'm the only one that does so. :| To me they're just... characters. I don't really have a preference for either type because there's always someone in that type that I don't like or love to death.

I think of certain characters as fitting into archetypes moreso. But it's easier for me to group them like that...

2. AGREED. It was bad enough when you're a kid in OoT but then you are an Adult and they are fucking EVERYWHERE! One of the things I loved about TP (in the beginning) was that there WEREN'T ANY REDEADS. I was even saying something about that. I was all, "Gee, isn't it great that they decided not to bring those motherfucking ReDeads back?" and then I saw the Shrieking Skeletons and peed a little.

30. I guess, but they are probably going to go with Asian actors. And while Lindsay Lohan could probably pull of the manipulative beautiful bitch role, I can't see Lindsay Lohan in a movie and see her as the role she is portraying, I can only see her as Lindsay Lohan, so for me putting her in the movie at all would throw me out of it. (Also, I just don't generally like her as a person)

7. I like Shinji quite a bit, too, so you're not alone! I found him and his plethora of issues to be fascinating to watch, plus I always seem to find myself drawn to characters that no one else winds up liking.

12. Is that Fred Astaire? (I'm not too good at picking out actors) I haven't really seen a whole lot of movies with him & Miss Rogers in their entirety (just not a movie person), but I've caught lots of bits and pieces while my parents watch them, and all the great music and dancing put a smile on my face ♥

17. I would love to see that NHK! adaptation! And Haruhi, too, don't get me wrong! I just had to point out NHK first because I love that show, and nobody else I know has seen/liked it. One person isn't a lot, I know, but at least know that I'm cheering for your ideas!

26. Anemone and Winry are tsundere? Anime Winry maybe but I just don't see it. Maybe it's because I haven't heard of these anime stereotypes until recently and they don't cloud my viewing.

40. That movie looks so funny, sweet-ish and full of typical teenage awkward.

IAWTC, although anime Winry maybe. I don't at all see Winry as a tsundere character. She hits Ed every once in a while and loses her temper sometimes, but she's not a "rough chick" (she's actually very tender) and she never comes across as someone who hides their soft side/kindness only to "soften up" as the series goes on. And Anemone is too cracked out with her issues to really qualify. I don't think she acts like one either. She's "bitchy," but not in a way that fits the stereotype.

2. I always had to mute the television after leaving the Temple of Time because I just couldn’t listen to the music, the background sounds, and the ReDead noises when you left it as Adult!Link. I wouldn’t even try to kill them; I’d just run like hell.

17. Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya? No, thank you; no one needs anymore thirty-year-olds playing teenagers. Now, Welcome to the NHK as an HBO series? YES, YES, YES. Although it would be have to be changed a lot to make sense to most people (and I don’t think the whole Sato taking pictures of elementary school girls would be liked). However, I myself have thought many times that Black Lagoon would be an amazing series for HBO or Showtime (besides the fact that no one would finance it).

26. Okay, I probably shouldn't write this rant as I am rather exhausted right now and probably can't spell (and I'll admit that perhaps I'm misinterpreting what you meant to say) but...

I AM SO SICK OF STEREOTYPES.

And most of all? I'm sick of fans putting female characters into the "OMG KICK ASS" type or the "sweet submissive girl with no backbone but awww cute" type, and then debating on which one to hate more and which type is "likeable" vs. "not likable". What the hell is with the polarization, people?

I think if you honestly, HONESTLY, thought about it, there's usually more to female characterization than that. Why not overlook a stupid fan-created stereotype and... I don't know? Judge each character for who she is and how well she's developed in canon? Even if she's sweet? Even if she's an ass-whooping bitch? Or *gasp* something in-between?

And OP? I can't for the LIFE of me understand why you would choose to put Asuka Langley in the same basket as Winry Rockbell. How on earth do they fit the same cliche when they are about as different as night and day? They have none of the same motives or personality.

Although, to be fair, I'm equally getting sick of people sticking all "submissive" (for lack of a better term) females into the same boat. Like Hinata Hyuga and Orihime Inoue and Rei Ayunami are not alike. AT ALL.

Sometimes I feel like the only person in fandom who can appreciate the (fan-labeled) "whoop-ass" girls alongside the "sweet" ones.

47. I can't stand Mello/Near except in a bare few situations, because it almost always required characters to be OOC. Just like Light/L. Matt/Mello is one of the few pairings in DN that doesn't require OOC on anyone's part. But really, DN is just horribly unshippable. That's just my opinion though, I'm not trying to say you shouldn't fan your ships. @o@

3) That's great to hear. Good on you! (And +1 for a positive secret)

7) Shinji's a great character. Sure, he was pretty annoying, and as a viewer, you sometimes wanted to throttle him, but you know what? People are oftentimes annoying, spineless, weepy, self-doubting emoheads. Take an already emotionally-stunted boy and thrust him into extraordinarily stressful situations? You may not like the boy, but of all the protagonists I've seen in anime/manga, he is by far the most real and believable. He's full of weaknesses and yet still muddles through and is a great example of the human spirit for all its strengths and faults.

47. Um, how about when people very often pair someone with their rival/enemy? How about: can't people be enemies without having an underlying love for each other? Besides, Mello and Matt look hot together, and Mello looks like a pedophile with Near.

I used to like Tsubasa more than Holic...then it took a U-turn into angst central and decided to catch up with the chapters of Holic I'd missed and I realised it's actually a far better series than Tsubasa.

I still like both, but Holic...I care more about the characters, the plot has been consistantly interesting and I laugh more at the character interaction (y hallo thar Doumeki and Watanuki) than I do in Tsubasa.

You've basically said one of my secrets - I get so fed up seeing a million updates for Tsubasa and none for Holic. I'd give up a years worth of updates on Tsubasa just to get a consistant year of Holic updates D: It's my favourite series (Himawari and Yuuko, ILU both.)

I would talk to you about crazy OC shipping if I knew you. ♥ My roomate and I once spent over an hour discussing every possible dumb pairing for our multi-campaign D&D session cast- many pairing scenarios which we would NEVER EVER in a million years mention to most of the other people who play with us. o__O

And I hear you on that whole "badly wanting a fandom so you can read fic of your own non-canon OTPs". Ha ha. Sometimes I wonder why I don't just make all these pairings I like CANON, but I've been in fandom long enough that I know it'd be no fun if I did. :P

I KNOW. Damn, I really, really hate those type of characters; they're so unsympathetic, foisting all their problems on some hapless boy, and blaming others for things they couldn't possibly help. They can be so incredibly cruel, with no consequences whatsoever.

You know, if other characters actually reacted to this in a plausible way, I wouldn't hate tsundere so much. But they never do.
