For the connoisseurs of erotic works

[personal profile] herpymcderp 2015-01-06 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
This came up earlier in a conversation, and I found the whole discussion really interesting, so I'll ask it to the crowd:

What was the age you first started consuming porn?

In the interests of variability, we'll count any type of media including fanfiction. Accidentally finding your dad's Penthouse when you were ten, or whatever your story might be, doesn't count as consumption unless you immediately started looking for other sources of porn afterward.

So, f!s, what's your age of general perversion? If I'm being honest, I'm going to have to say 13 or 14 here.

I would say around 8th grade so yeah, 14 or so.

I've never watched porn. So any number divided by zero?

I first stumbled upon it at probably 8 or so, and found it boring and confusing. It was in fanfic form, and I generally skimmed those bits trying to find out when they got back to the action-y stuff. I actively started looking for it at about 14, and around then I ended up on the dedicated text-based porn sites, although I got scared off for a while shortly after first finding them. (I still question what would lead someone to have one of those things that gives you all sorts of information about your computer - the "your IP address is this, you're using this browser on this OS" type ones - on a forum dedicated entirely to particularly out-there fetishes.) I've been reading porny fanfic pretty consistently ever since I was 14, though.

I think I was about 12 when I read my first explicit fan fiction. Kind of an accident.

I'd been reading Legend of Zelda fanfic for a while (which is pretty tame and general fun adventure stories) but when I switched to Final Fantasy VII, I was inundated with explicit fic. Started reading them and haven't really stopped to be honest.

18.

I was both a very anxious kid who actually worried about those warnings against the underage and a prudish fundie for a while.

Probably like 14-ish. Staying up late on Saturday nights to catch Real Sex on HBO on like volume 1.

Around 12-13 I started writing/reading smut. I also used to chat sexually online and "cyber" with people.

Around 15. Idk, smut was always a byproduct of the plot for me.

My mum's playgirl mags when I was about 11 ish (and I remember reading a m/f/m "letter" and wondering why the two guys didn't even touch each other...slashing before I even knew what fanfic was....). I then found my older brother's stash of girlie mags...and was sneakily watching porn movies by probably 14 or 15. My parents owned a corner store which we lived above and they rented movies, including pornos. I'd sneak those when my parents went away at the weekend. Plus Dad had some copied porn that I'd watch. Didn't discover fandom/fanfic/slash until I was 25ish (it was the mid 90s)as I lived in a very rural area.

I've been a perv for a looonnggg time.

Well, I don't know that's I've ever 'consumed' pornography? I stumbled across explicit fic when I was 10 or so, but always skipped over those scenes to get to the 'good parts'. Visual porn always made me just uncomfortable/grossed out, and around age 15 I started reading the salty scenes in explicit fics--just to see what all the fuss was about--but was never titillated or particularly interested. I'm pretty sure I'm asexual.

Kinda sorta when I was 11, with Ash/Misty fic. Then I hit an "ew" point for a few years, but by the time I hit 14, I LOVED NC-17 fic. That was right around the time ff.net still had that rating and that rating system.

Very late actually. I'd say 16 or 17, and even then if was pretty tame and non-explicit softcore.

Never, really? I encountered it around the early teens, in books, and then around 16-ish in fanfic, but I've never really gone looking for it and I've always been kind of weirded out at best by visual porn. Sex weirds me out in general, and even in written format I mostly skip it.

I did, however, start writing it reasonably early, because when I started writing fanfic I had it in my head that you were supposed to. It was around Goblet of Fire era HP on FF.net and 'lemons' were a thing? Or I thought they were? I figured that fanfic was supposed to come with a sex scene or two just for completeness sake.

In my defense, I got over it? There was only ... maybe three years worth of really badly written wizard porn from me. And some superhero porn. And a few really random pairings, because I genuinely and honestly thought that any and all pairings you wrote had to have sex, even when I was mostly pairing people platonically in my head.

It was a weird couple of years for all concerned.

11-12; I'd get the sex/prostitution newspaper from vending machines. When I was 14, I was tall enough to get Penthouse Variations at the 7-11 where they never checked ID. When I was 15, we got the internet, and it was all specialty BBSes and uudecode programs for Usenet files.

Honestly, due to trauma, I was really, REALLY uncomfortable with most porn till I met my now husband, who's been enjoying porn since his teen years. (As an aside, his mom gave him his first porno mags, in the twistedly genius idea that if she wanted to teach him respect for women, she should try and at least somewhat control what he saw first. I also suspect she hoped to buzzkill any secret porno thrill right off the bat, since NOTHING is uncooler than your mom buying you porn.)

Hubby actually cared about what I enjoyed, and even now, we sometimes watch porn together just for fun. So you can credit him for making it not terrifying for me.

Round about age 12 I used to borrow The Sun newspaper for uh, reasons. Then when I was 13-14 I discovered porny fanfic and I was set for life.

Lets see. Started sneaking my mother's romance novels and reading the sex scenes at 9. Started reading explicit fics at 11. Watched my first porn video at 13.

I was a slight bit precocious in that department I guess.

24.

to be fair, it was 1999 and that was when I first got a home computer with which I could look up anything and everything. prior to that the only computer access I had was telnet in the campus computer lab. yeeeaaaahhh.

I knew of porn when I was 9 or 10 and we had unfettered access to HBO, but lost interest in trying to sneak peeps of adult movies while my parents were out shortly after. it was just too difficult.

12. Specifically sought it out, because that's when we got the internet, and the internet is for porn. Never looked back.

I was reading a science fiction book (Catspaw by Joan D. Vinge) and all of a sudden there was sex in it. That was hot. This was also the book that prompted masturbation, and whenever I read a book that had a sex scene, I'd always dog-ear the sex pages so I could go back to them whenever I wanted.

But the discovery of my collection was usually under the circumstance of "this book I'm reading happens to have sex in it and I like it." In my mid-teens, I also spent a lot of time staring at the scrambled screen for the playboy channel with the volume down low and my ear by the speaker. It wasn't until I was 18 or 19, when I heard about the Laurel K. Hamilton books, that I specifically picked up some of the later ones (having never read the preceding ones) just to read the smut.

It was also about this time that I started going to literotica, a site where there was both erotic literature to read and to listen to. And some of the ones to listen to were really just listening to sex, which is when I realized how much more I prefer aural porn than textual.

Been reading fic since I was 11ish, but was never interested in the sex scenes. When I was about 16 I decided to force myself to read some mature rated fic. Wasn't that impressed.

I don't think I'm an asexual though. I since figured out I just have very strong physical preferences/kinks and can't really get into porn unless one or both are present.

I got my first account when I was about 12. I started being sexual around 9, and then found out there were thing people produced to look at. It was damn hard, when the computer was in the living room. XP
