(Anonymous) 2015-01-17 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)This is really tough for me to choose but probably Not About Superheroes (A Private Little War) by AnnaFugazzi http://archiveofourown.org/works/747827?view_full_work=true
It's Steve/Tony (which I honestly don't like that much) but it helped me out so much when I was really really depressed a few months ago. I would read it whenever I got too low. It just made me feel so much better, like wrapping myself in a warm familiar blanket when I felt alone.
I'd probably pick Battle Fatigue by bonsai_bunny as a second choice. http://archiveofourown.org/works/2228751
It also really helped. It made me feel less crazy and alone. Although a big part of that is due to how much I connected with the fic because Steve ended up trying to kill himself exactly the way I had been thinking about going. (Shooting himself in the head in the bathroom). It just made me feel less isolated I suppose.
(Melodramatic anon is melodramatic).

So, if that does not count, I think I have to go with one of thegraytigress's fics.
Probably Unsustainable. http://archiveofourown.org/works/1973673/chapters/4271625

If not, I'm going to go with My Immortal because it's fucking hilarious.

Re: Favorite fanfiction
Both are long, plotty, and shippy. A Forfeit of Dreams is an amazing sequel fic and The Rising Sun is an amazing AU.
I'd say A Forfeit of Dreams is probably my favorite of the two, but if I could only read one fanfic for the rest of my life I'd go with The Rising Sun because it has a lot more things going on and the stronger plot. It'd keep me entertained longer.

I have a lot of favourite one shots, but being stuck with a one shot for the rest of my life? XD
Alright, if I absolutely have to choose, perhaps this:
http://archiveofourown.org/works/1095384 - l'Heure d'Hiver by binz&shiplizard (the Horatio Hornblower series, gen). I figure a lifetime of reading about Hornblower getting so emotional he kisses Bush wouldn't be too bad.

Sansûkh (Thorin/Bilbo, Legolas/Gimli, lots of great side-characters, pairings and OC's, ridiculously long and still on-going, brilliant writing and all that.)
http://archiveofourown.org/works/855528/chapters/1637607
Or Freedom's Just Another Word for Nothing Left to Lose (SGA fandom, McShep, lots of tears, ALL the tears, but seriously one of the best things I've read in fandom.)

(Anonymous) 2015-01-17 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)Trigger warnings all up ins for non con and graphic violence, but hands down best characterization of all COD: Ghosts fic out there.

Also, god damn. How are you so good at porn? My jealousy, let me show you it.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-17 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)Because oh my gosh, I ship N x Silver like burning and this fic is basically everything I apparently wanted out of a kink meme fill for them. Long, well written and I like how both of them are characterised. It also proved to me that my friend and I aren't the only people out there who ship this.
Re: Favorite fanfiction
(Anonymous) 2015-01-17 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)America Isn't Chicken by Amuly
Comicsverse Steve/Tony. It is so, so good. The end gets a little bit sappy, but all the angst and ust, that never goes into over the top woobie territory, is so amazing. Plus it's so funny and well written.

NOSTER NOSTRI by spicyshimmy (Post-DA2 Anders/Fenris)
Three years after the events of Act 3, Anders and Justice are separated, but everything goes wrong in the process. Fenris is a gladiator (sort of) and Anders wears a Saarebas collar (sometimes) and Danarius's summer pavilion factors in heavily.
Shimmy's summary doesn't do it justice. Absolutely the BEST characterization and descriptions of Fenris I've ever seen in a fic. And Shimmy managed to perfectly capture how Anders is caught between the man we saw in Awakening, and in DA2, and now stranded alone with Fenris of all people. Over all this is a fun adventure romp with slow-burn romance thrown in and a very satisfying ending.
A lot of people don't like Fenders, but this fic perfectly captures why it works so well as a pairing.

shall we take a spin again (no witnesses) by miikkaa_xx (AU Thorki)
When Thor is need of money to help a friend, he turns to a less-than-legal source. However, what should have been a simple borrow-and-pay-back arrangement gets turned upside down when loanshark!Loki decides he wants something more than simply money in return.
In only a matter of days, Loki draws Thor into a dark, violent underworld, and it soon becomes clear that he has no intention of letting go.
Thor's descent is captured perfectly. This isn't a story where a good guy goes bad. There's no Dark!Thor here, only a guy who falls in love with a villain. The narrative doesn't shy from showing just how awful the shit Loki's involved in is, but at the same time Loki is still wonderfully human. It hits the perfect balance of glamorizing and demonizing the subject matter.
Re: Favorite fanfiction
Okay, so Ruse was a comic that went out in the early 00s, and had it come out maybe ten years later, it would've done well. It was... basically Sherlock Holmes, only instead of a rat-infested London, you had a gargoyles-infested Partington. Lots of fantasy, female Watson equivalent (her name was Emma Bishop, she was a polyglot and a former actress), great banter.
The company making Ruse went under after twenty-six issues. They were able to wrap up the immediate plotline, but a lot of bigger character questions were never answered. This fic answered all those questions for me, with perfect satisfaction.

Re: Favorite fanfiction
At Least There's The Football, Mycroft Holmes/Lestrade (BBC!Sherlock)
I just love how it is written and how their story evolves and I like all that OCs and the dynamics between everyone. It is pretty much a get together/getting to know each other fic and it is just a nice (be it a long) read.
http://archiveofourown.org/series/9540
But I would also have trouble giving this one up as it is pure gold and one of the very few crossover fanfics that I enjoy.
Seduction By Aviation, Martin Crieff/Tony Stark (Cabin Pressure/Avengers):
Pretty much what it says on the tin.
http://archiveofourown.org/series/28029
And this, as it is one of the few Dom/Sub relationship fics I enjoy:
Taming a Hawk, Clint Barton/Phil Coulson (The Avengers):
I'm not sure what I should say about this one... I am not great at recommending things it seems.
