They really are kind of...missing the point. Because yeah, the whole "spreading" thing isn't about being able to touch people; it's about comfort, and about the fact that there's a much lower standard of "propriety" for men than there is for women. So, these people are busy focusing on the behavior itself and thinking it's a form of overt intimidation while completely ignoring the actual issue, which is that men and women are conditioned to behave differently (not that there aren't some creepy guys who purposely get touchy-feely and invade women's space, because oooooh they soooo exist. But most men are just sitting the way they're used to sitting, and they've been told their whole lives that it's perfectly acceptable to sit that way).

They don't seem to have gotten that sexism (and any kind of systemic prejudice, really) is propped up by subconscious bias. And it's really, really dangerous and counterproductive to start thinking that every prejudiced person is a cardboard cut-out villain who knows and owns the fact that s/he's prejudiced.

People who should not be indulged, I think. nyxelestia already mentioned solutions they thought of that wouldn't work (swapping rooms, fan unit, covering vents) and frankly, there's only so much you're expected to do to please one roommate's really unusual requirement. I'd say majority rules in this case, and Frosty the Snowman can just learn to deal.

Haha, I had forgotten she was in SG-1! I was never a huge SG-1 fan but I do vaguely remember her. I googled searched and shit was she hot in that role...

Sounds like a good idea! People tend to look at my like i'm nuts when i tell them home birth/no drugs, but i hate hospitals, and my doc said it was no big if i wanted, so - why wouldn't i? Nothing like laying down in your own bed after and going to sleep. :)

I don't know if I would jump to the conclusion that it's all slash fans and Sheppard/Mckay shippers who disliked Keller and McKay/Keller because I never shipped the boys at all and I still disliked the second pairing and Keller.

Sometimes people just don't like what you like. Sometimes people do not like characters. Sometimes people do not like ships and it has nothing to do with what they do ship (I don't really ship Mckay with anyone in truth, so it was never about Keller getting in the way of anything.)

Ha, yeeaaaaaa I'm expecting them to go that route as much as I'd like them to keep Fitz and Simmons as best buds.

I think the thing that burns me the most is that Tripp was completely underused during the first half of the season, like he barely did anything outside of snarking with Skye(which I liked don't get me wrong) and occasionally going on a mission, so the fact that they offed him feels like such a waste to me. They should have at least done more with his character before killing him off.

Oh gosh I'd have been freaking out in your place as well, that's never a nice thing to hear before-hand. Thankfully it didn't come to that, though I was really worried about Mack the entire episode because of what had happened to him.(I don't know his name either, tells you how much I care :P).

Oh, absolutely. All? 100%? No. I would never make such a claim.

However, SGA was my primary fandom for years and *most* (not all) of the Keller hate came from McShep fans who hated her for derailing the pairing.

I even wrote a really long meta post debunking many of the objections that frequently were brought up because it just made no sense to me and still doesn't.

Awesome. :D I am down with Kat/Virgil in and of itself, though, and I too wish it was more popular. It's so hot and sweet and screwed up all at once.
