Weepy stats
(Anonymous) 2015-01-25 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)Being really sad or touched doesn't make me cry, and I've never wept at a movie or what have you. I generally only cry once or twice a year, always a hearty sobbing and almost always in public (because I have to be thoroughly stressed and frustrated to cry and I don't usually get that way in the comfort of privacy). 27y.o. female, jsyk, and it's been like this basically forever.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-26 12:01 am (UTC)(link)Funerals and other tragic events don't do anything to me, though. I just seem to lock up and not react to it. I might cry later, after the fact, but at the event I can't.
Re: Weepy stats
(Anonymous) 2015-01-26 12:01 am (UTC)(link)I wish I could... not. I can't even meet a professor alone without that ball in my gut and my throat going dry. My voice was cracking and I had to book it out of there just because my professor was giving me (great, well-needed and appreciated) constructive criticism about my research proposal. He was perfectly friendly and pleasant. I think I should like, chug a glass of wine or something to relax before I have to go through confrontation of any sort, because embarrassment over feeling like crying just makes it harder to get a grip.

Re: Weepy stats
I try not to cry in front of other people (unless we're watching something together in which case, whatever, it's basically a lost cause and trying to stop it just leads to further embarrassment), and if I'm in a situation in public where I feel I'm about to cry I try to control it or take myself out of it. That doesn't happen often, but I don't want to start because I have trouble stopping.
But I've always felt odd to be like this, because my dad is a damn rock and almost nothing can bring him to tears. I think I've seen him cry about five times in my life (once was during LOTR, which cracks me up) so I always feel overemotional.
Over 20, female, since you shared.

Re: Weepy stats
(Anonymous) 2015-01-26 12:12 am (UTC)(link)Crying in private varies a lot on my mental state. At times I be a weeping mess for days, but other times, like now, I haven't really cried in weeks. I cry about 50 % of the time I talk to my father on the phone though due to some stupid, um, daddy issues, I guess.
I cry very easily when it comes to books and movies (or any other media really). My friends joke that you can tell whether a movie is good or not based on me crying. Other than at the cinema I very rarely cry in public. A couple of times on the bus and once at a bar that I remember.
Re: Weepy stats
Well, and I cry when people die and awful shit like that. Very rarely during a movie, but that is more an exception.
Re: Weepy stats
(Anonymous) 2015-01-26 12:43 am (UTC)(link)I cry a lot though, is the point. Not at books/movies usually, I just get overwhelmed easily. Its a problem and I would like it to stop.
For statistical relevance: I am female and 21
Re: Weepy stats
(Anonymous) 2015-01-26 12:43 am (UTC)(link)Also whenever I have an especially terrible driving lesson. Otherwise not at all.

Re: Weepy stats
Depending on how well I'm doing, it can be once a month to multiple times weekly. (And during the REALLY bad years, I would cry every night.) I am okay with this, except in the way of, "If I'm crying every night, it's time to get my meds adjusted."

(Anonymous) 2015-01-26 01:00 am (UTC)(link)I also cry when reading fanfiction, so really, I think my reasons for crying might just be based is backassward's land.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-26 01:40 am (UTC)(link)Re: Weepy stats
Books sometimes make me tear up, but I haven't cried over a book in years.
Otherwise, I hardly ever cry, and when I do, it's mostly due to frustration. I cry when I'm angry of frustrated, which can turn into a vicious circle when people try to comfort me because they think I'm sad and don't get that I am just really fucking livid. And then the consoling makes me even madder and I cry even more.
Re: Weepy stats
(Anonymous) 2015-01-26 02:24 am (UTC)(link)Otherwise, only usually during panic attacks, the frequency of which depends on my anxiety levels in general. Can do it several times a week, then a gap of many months. Being that the panic attacks give no fucks at to when they happen or where I am, it can be private or public, depending. Before my panic attacks started, I was much more self-conscious about crying in public, worried what people were thinking etc. Now, not so much.
Re: Weepy stats
(Anonymous) 2015-01-26 02:28 am (UTC)(link)For reference, 25 yo dude.
Fairly often.
(Anonymous) 2015-01-26 03:59 am (UTC)(link)I also cry when I'm really upset - frustrated, angry, disappointed in myself, scared, etc. - when the emotion gets overwhelming, it comes out in tears.
Re: Weepy stats
