*scans the random spurt of Harmonian comments that have appeared near the end of the thread*

Oh Harmonians. Never change! If you pulled your head out of whatever and looked at the content in the actual books instead of searching for symbolism in random objects, magical beasts or alchemy you would have seen what was obvious and right before your eyes. Sometimes what's obvious is the answer. Not everything is a red herring. It amazes me that after years you still haven't realized how lame you sound.

About the horcrux scene; if she had in mind peeving off some H/Hr shippers with that I really can't blame her. I think I'd want to do the same thing if I were her, considering how downright mean spirited and ungrateful so many Harmonians were to her after HBP and still are even now. The woman shouldn't be your personal punching bag because you failed to read what was clear as day.

(Anonymous) 2008-01-05 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
WORD to the last paragraph. I can't believe the gall of some of them. They saw and participated in the vile, hateful spew after HBP, took great satisfaction insulting her and her writing, made theories about how she doesn't understand love because she was divorced one time, and still have the nerve to go, "BUT WHY DOES SHE HATE US SO MUCH?"

Gee, I FUCKING WONDER.

ILU Harry Potter fandom.
I've left you years before but ILU. Best shit ever. I've never imagined that people were STILL not over MY SHIP WAS SUNK BAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWW and OMG ROWLING WAS MEAN TO UUUUUUSSSSS.

H/Hr shippers and their persecution complex, nevar stop. What would we do if there weren't any people who thought they are brave fighters for freedom just because they like a children's book ship that didn't happen?

Re: 35

[identity profile] haro.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 11:54 am (UTC)(link)
Win. Seriously ship what you want. For example, I love Neville/Luna to bits but I'm not mad at Rowling for not doing it (and then pairing them elsewhere in post book interviews). Sure it would have been great to see it happen, but honestly? I can sort of see her reasoning behind not doing it- it would be a bit convenient to have all of the ministry six paired off amongst each other. Anyway, that's not what the books are about it (romance that is) and if she'd paired Dean and Luna or George or Luna or whatever in the books and said that Luna didn't much like very timid boys or that she viewed Neville as a brother I would not take it as a personal potshot against N/L shippers. Really guys. It's not all about you.

7. They were my first doujinshi couple too. And they introduced me to the concept of 'fandom'. Fond memories. :D

8. Please marry me? It's one of the best games I've ever played.

(When I'm feeling down, I play the space chapter over and over. And I've drawn Orsted/Alicia fanart. And I got every weapon in the final chapter.

Have you played Bahamut Lagoon too?)

38. Best. Idea. Ever.

Orsted/Alicia fanart

Win! Link? And the Space Chapter is my favorite!

I haven't played BL myself, but there's a girl a few pages before you mentioned it. :D

I wish I knew grammar.

Don't have the drawing anymore, I was fifteen and it sucked. XD I kind of want to draw more now, though.

Bahamut Lagoon is just as great as Live-A-Live, and made by Square around the same time. It's basically the plot prototype of FFX only infinitely more complicated. You should play it. :D

But really, it's so hard to get people to play Live-A-Live. None of the chapters are really easy to start with (except maybe the space chapter, but it's still radically different from most RPGs) and everyone either gets lost in the ninja chapter or gives up halfway through the modern day fighting. I really wish the game had more fans.

I thought it was more similar to FFXII, plotwise, restoration of a fallen kingdom, relatively realistic take on what war exactly means, etc... oh, wait, I forgot about the summoners in FFX... XD Whoops.

And was one of those who gave up during the ninja chapter (and played BL and Rudra instead, yay). I suck as a ninja. That was hard to stomach. :(

Re: 8 OP

[identity profile] purple-solle.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
It's close to FFXII too, but I like to think the links with FFX are deliberate. The emphasis on Bahamut, the Fayth, Sauzer as Seymour, an airship named Fahrenheit... it could all be a big giant coincidence, though.

And you really should give Live-A-Live another chance. There's more than one way to get through the ninja chapter... and I would really recommend starting out with the Sci-Fi chapter (Robot) or the China chapter (Monk) instead. They're infinitely less frustrating than the giant fucking Ninja maze of death.

... I just googled "Rudra". Why has no one told me this existed, and why do I have a feeling I'm going to lose my soul to this game.

9- I agree. "Anti" communities are made when people dislike something popular but feel powerless against it. [livejournal.com profile] antiyaoi is a typical example of that- the same 3 posts are posted over and over again, same rants, same responses. What a waste of time. Go do something you like instead.

36 heh
I'm glad that person is not in any of my fandoms.

Uh, you can't tell me you didn't see the hints. WTF. It was so obvious, and I didn't even care about any of the ships. I wasn't looking for it, but it was right there.

You can't possibly be that deluded that you don't even see the hints. Please. Please tell me you're not that blind.

You can ship all you want, but if you claim you couldn't even see the hints, even after being pointed to them, then... w-what. I guess what they say about Harmonians really is true.

9. And that’s why I leave the ranting to my FL.

39. I’m feeling you. I myself can’t write slash for humor series…or het…

Commenters on 35: Yes, yes, somebody didn't read GoF. Some people are still Harry/Hermione shippers, oh noes. GET OVER IT.

30. Who doesn't want that coat?!

Okay, I'll admit, everyone, it seems. I fell in love with him because of that coat (and because of The Ten Doctors comic) without having seen him in action. Now having seen him in action, I feel my love is justified. People complain that he was mean or sarcastic or a jerk...and that's what was so wonderful about him! Other Doctors were aloof and "smarter than thou." Six was just...very very blunt about it. There's something incredibly endearing about that bluntness.

Gosh, I heart him so much it makes me feel like I'm cheating on Eccleston (no, Nine, you'll always be my first!)

35. Okay, y'know what. I hate R/Hr. Loathe it with a passion. If I possessed scads of free time, I'd write essays and odes to how much I hate that pairing and how awful I think it is.
The hints were anvil sized.
That didn't stop me hating it. I saw it coming from miles away, not unlike a train-wreck. It was clear to me from at least PoA, if not earlier, that Rowling was going to have Ron and Hermione get together in the end.
It was equally clear to me that she decided that her wanting them to be together in the end would be enough justification for the ship and that it didn't actually have to read like a plausible, not-horrible relationship. Bickering only goes so far...

21. What movie is this and does it centre around football?
(It's not that German post WWII-set 1954 World Cup movie is it? The ball is too new...)

47. Looking at other responses to this secret, I can't believe it is Mystery Men...I barely remember that movie (but I was old enough to). It was my favorite too :(
