Aussie stumpy tail x bull terrier and a blue merl great dane cross (supposedly, considering her rural origins: many breeds possible)

Leaning away from fandom names - I'm thinking just 'doggy' names? So like Honey, River, Pebbles, Fudge, Hunter etc.

But I've been struggling at thinking of feminine versions as I want ppl to realise they're girls (and hopefully feel less threatened. One person already thought white was a Pittie D: Nothing against pitties but they are banned here and people thinking she's a pittie could = dead dog D: so avoiding tough pittie names)

Just names that fit!

White is a very sweet, very friendly yet incredibly stubborn mother. She comes from a really bad background and is covered in scars and missing fur from the mange. She's still on meds.
She heels amazingly like woah.

Blue is very timid, very shy. Startles easily and has a GIANT DEEP bark. But she's also really sweet and keeps creeping up behind me to nose my hand than panics herself XD

They both love swimming!

That's all I know so far on them :D

I would name the gray one Priscilla, Viola, or Isabelle.

I'd name the brown-and-white one Olive, Josephine (Josie for short), or Eva.

I don't have any suggestions, but one thing that might help you narrow down any list you make is to try out how well the dog would understand that you're yelling out for them from afar in an emergency, and to make sure that the name doesn't sound like any other command you might issue them, or words that commonly pop up in conversation.

My apologies if these are all things you had already thought about and I'm sounding condescending. :(

No everything is good and repetition is good! I'd thought about how I'd have to yell it but not about the commands!

Is it bad that my first thought was literally "Sodium and Chlorine"? And together they'd be the salt of the earth.

They've been dubbed Scarlet and Thistle :D Got their ID tags on the way home today. But thanks for suggestions n_n

White and tan looks like a Honey or a Belle to me.

I like Skye or Fiona for the Blue.

Going off of what dreemyweird said,

- Nadia and Cleo
- Idgie and Ruth (I know you said you're leaning away from fandom names, but I feel like these aren't super fandom-y, so I wanted to say them. ^^;)
- Doll and Sweetheart
- Bluebell and Jasmine (for fun, name the white one Bluebell, and the blue one Jasmine?)

My roommate's gerbils were Idgie and Ruth. Idgie died last summer, but Ruth is still kickin'!

I've found that one or two syllable names work best for dogs. And make sure they don't sound too much like commands like "stay" "sit" or whatever you want to teach them.

The blue merle looks like an old-fashioned kind of lady to me, so older names keep popping into my head--Sadie, Edith/Edie, Mary (Puppins), Maggie, Coco, Charlotte/Lottie. The white-and-tan looks very much like a Missy or Carmen to me.

Sorry I am bad at dog names! Does the breeder/shelter have names for them now? If you like what they're being called right now it's totally okay to keep that.
