People who hate on this show clearly haven’t seen any of the last three seasons. The writers finally realized that vague nerd jokes and misogyny were run through, so they switched to genuine character development and forward movement. It’s basically Friends now. But yeah, try to get anyone to believe this. Ha. Hahaha. The hate is too strong.

I have seen the later seasons, actually, and I agree, they're clearly trying to rectify some of their earlier mistakes. But frankly, they had a lot of room for improvement and while it's improved, it's still kind of mediocre in that respect, especially with the female characters.

But then I thought Friends was pretty crap, too.

OK, I'll be the idiot who enjoyed Friends and am kind of intrigued by this comparison. But then, my biggest problem with the show before was not how I thought it treated nerds but with what an asshole Sheldon was, so...

I never hated TBBT, it just wasn't something I ever felt the urge to catch up on or watch all of. I watch the occasional episode on TV if I catch it and I mostly find them alright? It's not the best thing ever to me but it's also not the worst either.

I agree with you OP but they still have a lot of work to do and, frankly, we just need a new nerd show. I want one where the ladies are just as geeky about pop culture as the dudes, where there's one LGBT character, and maybe more than one minority character.

Most of all, I want some REAL nerds. Yeah, you can have that dude who lives in mom's basement. I fucking know that dude and, believe it or not, he's not that bad and he's not a gamergater misog-troll. But I also want to see that nerdy couple with kids. The nerd who's athletic and buff, maybe to emulate beloved superheroes. The nerd, male or female, who gets laid on a regular basis because of actual charisma and sex appeal. Nerds who aren't all super geniuses. Nerds who know how to dress and don't wear crayon colors all the time because WHO FUCKING DOES THAT?!!

I think most people just don't care enough about BBT to want to give it a chance now tbh. I know I certainly don't. I liked making fun of it as much as the next person, but nothing about the show piqued my interest in the first place. That it was so ~problematic~ was the only reason I paid any attention at all to jokes/discussions about it lol.

I have seen later seasons, and I think you're confused by the fact that improving from really bad to still pretty bad is still pretty bad. Improvement is good, but I could just watch something that was always good and lacking bigoted shit!

Eh, I'm not going to spend all that time catching up just in case it might have improved. I enjoyed the first season, some of the second. But then it just soured, and I have stuff I actually enjoy to watch instead. It very well could be better, but I don't care enough at this point. Too little, too late.
