37.) I feel exactly the same way (especially for the PW fandom)-- I could even have written that secret. I feel really overwhelmed by all the talent...

But I've decided to take it easy. To try to write or draw for the sake of being accepted/contribute... That's not the point of fandom, and I've come to realize that. The people who actually draw and write well-- they write and draw because they love the characters and the story.

Writing and drawing selfishly will never produce results worthy of a fandom's true appreciation. Fandom is created by love for the characters themselves-- a willingness to write upon a character, and try to understand a character with all the feeling you can muster. That is what creates and supports a fandom-- not a want to fit in.

What I'm trying to say... is... Write and draw when you feel ready-- don't feel pressured. I'm in the same boat as you, and I believe that if we love the things we love enough, we'll be able to create something to fully express that love... All in due time :3

7. You shouldn't worry about naming your kid Sakura~ I mean, it's a pretty common Japanese name. If you're ashamed of it, you can always say you named it after the flower? XD

17 - oh, agreed.
27 - yeah, basically.

W.I.T.C.H wasn't created by Disney.

6. YAAAAY for this secret! It freaked me out too - I had been thinking about buying Animal Crossing but um, yeah, now I can't. Do you have stairs in your house?

12. <3 <3 <3

I am protected. The stairs won't save me from her, though.

Don't mind me

They made the eyecatches cheesier by adding surprise haros in every corner of the screen surrounding them! So yeah, the SEED eyecatches were better.

But campy? I could think of other anime that are campier than GSD. \o_o/

As for GOOD Yzak/Dearka fanfic, uh... lemme ask my fellow DeaYza fan friend from my flist. She'd probably know where to look.

Side Note: Am I the only one who finds Kira in the white ZAFT uniform hot?

3 OP

He does look pretty freakin' sexy. But it just makes no sense. :(

9. Play it. You won't ever look back.

12

[identity profile] offensive.livejournal.com 2008-01-12 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
I know exactly what you mean. (Zanna was always the character I could relate to the most in the show, because I'm pretty self-sacrificing for the people I love) And obviously ♥ for the use of Zanna, Don't! to voice your frustrations. I wish I had advice to offer but I'm kind of adviceless in that department D:

25: Yes. ♥ Sad yet so beautiful.

9. Actually, I've thought about it too. It looks interesting.

14. Hawt and sexy threesome right there. I am totally not saying that because I'm a piano player...

20. AAAAAH, BUMP OF CHICKEN!!!! ^______^

22. His art (at least his FF art, anyway) bothers me...everybody has such creepy faces. They all look like some sort of zombies. Or vampires. And the anatomy can be pretty fucked-up sometimes.

30. Speaking of fucked-up anatomy...uh, what the hell is that second piece doing back there? I'm assuming it's her other half, but I'm not exactly seeing how the parts match up. *way to completely miss the point of the secret*

re 30

[identity profile] yui-hime.livejournal.com 2008-01-12 07:51 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, you can see where her spine is, right? That part of it just past her elbow? It points rather directly at the big steaming heap of entrails signifying where her midriff/waist should have been were she all in one piece... from there, you should be able to figure out her butt and her legs.

As for the point of this secret, either it's "guro!Rei gets me hot", or it's a fake secret that someone posted in an attempt to start wank.

[identity profile] thano.livejournal.com 2008-01-12 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
29. Same. Absolutely -- god, I need to stop the sheepthink, this is insanity. (I wanted the angry Izzy, actually.)

I-is it lame to admit that I still have a crush on Magnaangemon's sexy echoey voice? x333

[identity profile] kyriesanctus.livejournal.com 2008-01-12 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
22. Actually not a huge fan of Amano, but I do appreciate his full illustrations much more than just his character designs. I feel like he's a wonderful artist in his own respect, and, if you have an eye for whimsy, he's probably your go-to guy, but I prefer more solid stuff myself, like Nomura.

14. Is that George Sand? I would have used the Delacroix portrait of Chopin (http://www.artofeurope.com/delacroix/del11.jpg) myself, but to each his own.

26: Ditto. Any suggestions, DC Comics fans?

33: Someone decided that every happy ending was predictable and clichéd, mostly because they said so. Arbitrary plots are the new black.

...good point. That's what you get for using Wikipedia to search for images. :P

2. He's also mentally unstable ^^ just FYI. Its all in the article from the magazine that picture is from, I suggest reading it. It's an amazing article, actually. I really respect him. But I'd NEVER want to be in a relationship with him. Ever.

11. oh god me too. *feels terrible about it*

23. I didn't know it was a book! I should check that out.

25. I ADORED that movie, I don't understand really why so many people didn't. It was absolutely brilliant.

26. Oh my god I know the feeling. This is why I go for spoilers. I mean, if I was REALLY going to try to start watching Doctor Who, I would have to start from the first Doctor, and that would drive me completely insane. Way too long.

28. Do I know you?

Re 26.

[identity profile] shinraisei.livejournal.com 2008-01-12 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, you could start from the beginning of the new series with S1 (2005) and work your way up to now (soon-to-air-after-Easter-S4) which isn't as bad as sifting through various Classic episodes. What I did, was that I had started with the new series and then as I got more and more interested, I decided to take a look at Classic Who and I didn't start from the First Doctor, nor did I watch any Classic Who episodes in order--I started with The Five Doctors special from the 70s, the Second Doctor had caught my interest and I watched the 5-7 episode story (29 minutes long) of The Invasion. From there, I've bounced between either of the Doctors and have never been lost or confused.

Besides, most of the adventures with the Second Doctor and some with the First Doctor were "accidently" burned by the BBC during a purge in the 60s/70s. :)

26. I would suggest looking into specific comic series. For instance, if you want to get into X-Men, get into New X-Men or Astonishing X-Men... Something without 450+ issues. XD; Your local comic retailers will gladly help ease you into a more recent/on-going series that isn't elderly.

G-goddamn.
....that.
Was.
Beyond EPIC.
Seriously... I have no words for it.
Thank you so much for that link.
Fucking wow.

I...was planning on buying another copy of Animal Crossing... just so I could play it with my little sister (who took my copy). And now, I'm not so sure I want to anymore.

Because the actual game? Can't compare to that.

Re: 6 OP -- You're welcome!

(Anonymous) 2008-01-12 08:08 am (UTC)(link)
You're more than welcome! More people need to read and be disturbed b-- I mean, enjoy that story!

Oh, the actual game CAN compare, in it's own way. The story doesn't end just because you're done reading it. It IS possible to play the game again, but you'll see unusual things everywhere. Things that you wouldn't think twice about, had you not read that story.

After I visited Camp, this lady appeared in my town. She'd lost her daughter. In Camp. We know what happens to kids at Camp. ...... TAT

That said, I totally agree with you. Seriously, holy shit. Epic win story.

(Separate from my freaking out over 6~ =D)
You're totally not alone. :<
I wish I could contribute more to my fandoms, but my art is total crap compared to other artists and I honestly think I suck at writing/roleplaying. (Why I keep trying, I dunno. >>;)
But, um, you can still be part of it! As cheezy as it may sound, you can contribute just by being there, really. =D Different people with different ideas and opinions is part of what makes fandom great after all.

22: I love Amano because he combines elements from different eras and styles from both Western and Eastern traditions. I'm glad the games gave me a gateway to the rest of his work. If you want to see some cleaner images he's created, check out his character designs for G-Force (http://www.amanosworld.com/html/work/g-force.html) from many moons ago. (And there's a whole bunch of other non-FF stuff to explore too.)

23: I didn't care for the Miyazaki version much either, except for the few scenes that were true to the book (green slime I love you).

42: *sniffle*

(Anonymous) 2008-01-12 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
23. I don't think the movie version was Miyazaki's best, but the book wasn't all that great to begin with. I had so many people telling me how amazing the book was, how the movie was nothing compared to it, and after reading it, I was left with the feeling of 'WTF were the book fans smokin?!'. You can feel that the author was trying very hard to make something out of an idea, and spinning out prose just for the sake of making a longer book, but it just managed to create a very thin story, even for a children's/young adult's book.

All in all, I thought Miyazaki's film was better conceptualized and was glad he went on a different route, although I gotta admit there was not much he could have done since the original source was crap to begin with.
