23: Personally, while I love adaptations of stories and all that, as a film on its own I really didn't like HMC - the last part was just so rushed that people in the theatre were laughing at the wrong places because it seemed ridiculous (and these are just your average folks, mind you, not movie critics).

And then when I read the book I mourned at how it was so much better. :( Despite having watched the movie I felt "man, it'd be great to see this in a movie" after reading it. The Miyazaki movie not applying.

31. Hm, I don't know about people brushing off something like that. Most of the characters in KHR have had enough impact on the plot for no deaths to really be meaningless. Not to mention there's just no character that no one likes. If any major character in KHR died, I'm sure people would react to it. Spoiler:

So with you! I love that book to bits and tiny pieces, and I love the interactions between Howl and Sophie, and so much of the dialogue, and certain scenes -- I was so unbelievably excited when I heard Miyazaki was making it into a film.

And then... it was just not the book at all, and I was said. D:

8. AHAHA I LOVE YOU! W.I.T.C.H. is genius, and I was in a tight spot during the time between when my younger sister got too old for the books and I was able to swallow my pride. But they're just so fantastic!

26. True and true. I love comics, and I want to read more of them, but I hate hate hate starting story lines in the middle, and how can I catch up in comics, which're into 200+ issues? And then there're so many characters around... Ah well.

18 - I'm seeing HSM, but I have no idea what "Spring Awakening" is. Someone please enlighten me?

22 - You're not alone. I don't like his FF designs at all - the guys are always too feminine or just weird-looking, and the girls all look the same. And you're right, pretty much everyone has the same expression.

I've seen some of his faerie art, and his style works better there - he's free to focus more on details of clothing and background and not have to worry about making every "person" individual enough to tell apart at a glance. But he's still not one of my favorite artists.

23 - Agreed. I don't hate Miyazaki's version, but I hate it in comparison to the book, which had a lot of uniquely "Western" - or British, take your pick - elements woven into it and which I felt didn't need any changes. I understand when some things from my favorite books need to be left out for the sake of time (otherwise I would've pitched a goddamn fit about Ron not getting to shine on his own in Quidditch in OotP), but when you take out a lot that's just awesome and add in a bunch of other stuff that wasn't necessary? Yeah, no. I adore Miyazaki. I do not adore what he did to one of my favorite books and have to force myself to think of them as completely separate works.

26. Super heroes is why Wikipedia is your friend! Seriously! I got into Batman about... say... ten years ago. Didn't know much about the comic at ALL because all I'd done batman related before was the cartoon (which is the BEST EVER.) but Wikipedia helped me out. Before too long I found out why Dick wasn't Robin anymore, what the heck happened to the second Robin and how Batgirl changed to Oracle (etc, etc.). It's helpful. If; however, that does not work for you...

Dig the DCAU. They have 4 seasons of Batman, 3 seasons of Superman and 5 seasons of Justice League (Unlimited). And it's all GOLD. (Well worth the watching.)

8. Actually, W.I.T.C.H is just an Italian comic not at all related to Disney, right? Disney I thought only purchased broadcasting rights for Jetix since the cartoon is animated and produced by a French company (which I'll admit, when I watched it those years ago was pretty good) But I suppose they are involved because it seems they co-produced it? I dunno. *shrugs* I haven't seen it since...ages2 years ago o_o

14. ...Didn't George Sand (the lady, for those who don't know) love Chopin and Chopin dedicated most of his opusi(?) to her? Didn't he also have an immense adoration for Liszt? (...actually, didn't every single composer save maybe Camille Saint-Saens have immense adoration for Liszt?)

26. Oh! Don't worry...I know the feeling; I started reading Green Lantern from Green Lantern: Rebirth and only knew who Kilowog, Hal Jordan and John Stewart were. (And these guys go back way far) I started practically in the middle of most of the series I read and then progressively (and randomly) looked at older comics.

(besides, if you were to start from the begining, half of it would've been retconned over and over by now which does cause a problem for attracting new readers. My case was a 12 year hiatus in which I became disinterested in comics for a while and then when I was high school suddenly felt compelled to get back in again. D:)

29. It's been 9 years? Really? Cripes...Now I feel old I, for one, want DVDs of the dub. It was a staple of my childhood and my most favorite dub ever Those keychains were cute and I still want one. I'm sad that I never went and got myself some Digimon plushies when I was younger (at least I still have my D3. Dead batteries of course, but whatever :D)

because the people that told me that do NOT only read W.I.T.C.H., they read a lot more comics like marvel and stuff, so why only mention witch? because the art style? because the characters have big eyes? "OMGZ BIG EYES, THIS BE MANGA DURRR"
