Oh thank god someone else here ships it too. I wouldn't necessarily say I feel embarrassed but I do kind of worry about people on tumblr thinking I'm a weirdo for it. I've went on a few recent reblogging sprees because damn I ship them hard. (They have nice chemistry, okay...)

Admittedly, one of the reasons I was most excited about this season were the teasers about Norma and Norman being even closer and the hints that their relationship might turn physical. IMO if that happens though, it'll only be in Norman's mind; I think as much as Norma is (probably unknowingly) in love with her son, she might not be physically attracted to him in the way he is to her, and even if she were I don't think she would act on it.

Still, I'm so looking forward to the rest of this season. I couldn't stop laughing last episode when he started making out with Emma to piss Norma off. (Though I feel SO bad for Emma in this situation. She deserves better.)

CHANGE SUBJECT!

I think if the show itself addresses those things -- e.g. controlling issues, the lashing out and projecting onto others -- and makes it clear they're not admirable or desirable traits to idolize then that's one thing. That's good character development.

Unfortunately a lot of shows don't, and a lot of jerky characters never get their assholish behavior addressed in any way by canon. In many cases, the assholish behavior instead gets vaunted and made out to be the excusable actions of a perfect Golden Boy who just couldn't control himself for no apparent reason (and besides it's good for the people he's lashing out at, don'tcha know?), which is hardly character development unless you're aiming to develop and even bigger asshole.

Eating disorders aren't a problem?

...and you REALLY think "thinshaming" is a bigger problem than fatshaming?

Ugh, people were churning out fics of John being abusive beyond belief since the show came out and I've always found it tiresome. Their childhood was messed up enough, good lord.

I think it's the responsibility of parents/guardians to raise children, not the entertainment industry. I really can't simplify it anymore than that for you. Parents/guardians are responsible for creating a healthy foundation for their children based on their beliefs and morals. This includes body image.

Try Google?

Also Richard Dawkins tweeted about this only a month or two ago.

I cannot vouch for its veracity, but yesterday I watched part of a documentary on TV that went on about how Jesus Christ was in fathered by a soldier nicknamed The Panther (unfortunately, the product of a rape), how Mary Magdalene was a pagan priestess who abandoned her beliefs because she fell in love with him, they had two kids together (one of whom was named Maximus) and apparently the crosses where people were crucified by Romans were in the shape of X's, not T's, which became mainstream representation after the vision Emperor Constantine had right before he converted to Christianity.

I don't think it's pathetic at all. I've been known to mentally reframe the most hellish parts of my life, as I'm surviving them, as marvelous adventures. It could get kind of terrifying when things got really bad, but it definitely helped a LOT. It gives you emotional distance from what you're dealing with, and hopefully some perspective as well.

Not like the splendid example worn by the gentleman on the left, however. Gone are those days of glory.

I was talking about The Hobbit when I decided to make an account, so I ended up choosing a hobbit name for my username, and it's sort of accurate because I'm smallish and I like gardening?

But yes I have replied to a post or two as a hobbit pretending to be offended by someone hating on hobbits. I think I'm funnier than I am. It's become like when I first got chickens and couldn't stop making chicken related puns. Help me.

Letting go of the leash of my cat when we encountered an angry dog when I was twelve. The cat ran away and never came back. To this day I feel awful about this. (though my thinking at the time was that the cat would be safer this way.)

Letting batshit fangirls run my LJ for years.

Seriously, I'd post an opinion, they'd get mad at me, I'd apologize.

Although the person who told me I apologized so much she only hadn't defriended me because she didn't want to hurt my feelings wasn't much better.

(I regret keeping her on my flist instead of telling her to go to hell and defriending her.)

I'm so different on LJ now. It's nice.

Holy shit, did I make this secret in my sleep? I like Beth and Bethyl just fine but there was a hole in her head. Even if this wasn't a zombie show where people die every week, nobody comes back from a fucking headshot. The amount of delusion in this fandom knows no bounds.

...technically correct, but not what the question was going for because it's not entertaining enough :P. The word avocado comes from the Nahuatl word āhuacatl which was also used for 'testicle' for obvious reasons.

Aw. :( I can see how a twelve year old would panic and think "I'll let it run" etc.

That is most assuredly the question, but what we need now is to turn our faces towards the light that is the answer.
