Fanartists/writers like this make me sick. Anyone so self-obsessed and bitch as to think themselves perfect and above criticism (especially when it's blatantly obvious that they NEED ALL THE HELP THEY CAN GET) needs to be bitchslapped. Multiple times.

... and random note: I thought that was the world's fugliest Reno/Cloud pic on earth at first. D:

8. Made me lol. And then be sad, because seriously, you want that? XD (Okay, the sadness is quickly replaced by hilarity.)

11. More lulz. "It was mostly because of the hair, though."

12. I read it as just glee. "LOOK, I DREW THIS, and it's better than what I've done before! It's hot!" and all that excitement. I doubt they are earnest in saying it's the "hottest picture in the world" (especially because they used "totally"--it makes the statement seem a little self-mocking).

13. Even more lulz, although that was because I thought the OP was actually serious and my reaction was "Vaan's a gigolo?" (yeah, I know, trying for humor, but when people have made most of those complaints in earnest...)

26. DARN YOU. *shakes fist* Now you've got me thinking about getting the tattoos of a character I love, but...it just wouldn't be a good idea. XD They're awesome, but still.

35. You must not be in very many fandoms, then. :/

44. Awwwwwwwwww. ♥ You should tell them that!

XDDDDDDDD
Re: 13
You know when I think about it, when everyone is out there screaming to the hilltops about how much the characters in FFXII SUCK SO HARD that it makes it easy to jump the gun on it.

No, Vaan is actually a male stripper...oh...there goes the premise for some horrendous fic...*lols*

Better luck next time *shrugs*

At least I got a reaction!

11. I don't even watch House and this secret made me laugh. Two thumbs up.

[identity profile] falco-999.livejournal.com 2008-01-17 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
41. Agreed. Actually, I think he's still the best female romance option Bioware/Obsidian have written, from what I've experienced, because he reads like an actual character, rather than some developer's idea of a fangirl's wish-fulfillment fantasies. He's a prick. He isn't a badboy. Just bloody annoying. Yes, the romance is flawed, and the ToB sections are crap, because all the dramatic conflict is over, but it was still great. I think the quality of the Anomen romance was overall much better than those of Viconia and Aerie.

[identity profile] astrakiseki.livejournal.com 2008-01-17 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Oy, Aerie. GOD, AERIE. X.X If you go far enough, she gets knocked up and gives birth in-game. WTF.

At least with Anomen, you didn't ignore biology like that.

28. OMG WILL ♥.

42. As much as I like House/Cuddy/Wilson, I still agree with you. I think Ferris/Sloane/Cameron was my first OT3, when I was about 13. I just didn't want Cameron to be sad, okay?

[identity profile] xanykaos.livejournal.com 2008-01-17 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
14. A fury? Like those things in Greek mythology?
For serious, though...I can't tell which part of your statement seems so sad. That anti-furries "opened your eyes" or that you stay for one person's approval. I'm going to go with the first one. Y'know what? There is nothing innately bad about furry art. There are plenty of good furry artists out there who aren't creepy or don't draw teh pronz or get all fetishy or dress in fursuits. What it sounds like to me is that you caved into peer pressure and "opened your eyes" and "dislike furries now" because you wanted to jump on the bandwagon and be "cool."

Disliking something fun that you liked just because a bunch of other people did too.

Lame.

If he's your boyfriend, then surely he could respect that you're not into it anymore. But if it were me, I'd be sad because of the crappy reason, not the disliking it.

33. I love GoldenWolf. I was never completely, scarily into Furry as some people got (certainly never into yiff *disturbed*), but dangit, I am so tired of the stigma. Whatever the reason, it does produce some darn good art.

36. I'm not alone? AMAZING!
I agree. Much as I really enjoyed Depp and Rickman and Carter's performance, the only time I squeed like a fangirl was when Spall started singing. He's fantastic! (I mean, as an actor, not a singer.) And I heart him so.
I think it was Enchanted that brought me around.

42. The funny thing is, when it comes to Ferris Bueller's Day Off, every time I watch the movie, I can't help but think that the unspoken set-up for the future, in a piece-it-together-yourself kind of way, was that Ferris would never be tied down and would go off to bigger and better things, while Sloane and Cameron would quietly settle down somewhere.

I never thought I'd like OT3 until Doctor/Jack/Rose. Not really for the "sexy" but because they had such friggen fantastic chemistry between them. Bless, they were adorable.

43. Agreed. I'd love to have access to musicals, but usually, I just don't. I've been lucky enough to see a handful that are my absolute favorite, but I'll take movies too. Even the PotO movie. Gerik was awful at the singing, but dangit, the movie was so pretty. And yes, I have actually seen the play. There's always such an either/or in fandom.

[identity profile] shadhahvar.livejournal.com 2008-01-17 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
Much agreeance on 14 & 33. It always seemed sad to me, even as peripherally as I was in one of the therian communities a while back, that people would cave to peer pressure either way. I also never understood how "I" couldn't like anthropomorphic art, or stories, because then I'd be a furry, and furries are gross, evil, and undermine all the values the rest of the world stands for.

...Mostly because it always just sounded like another fandom to me, in that way.

47

[identity profile] lunar-wandering.livejournal.com 2008-01-17 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
Write ittt! The fandom could always use some more Shinon/Gatrie.

33. goldenwolf is overrated
OH SHIT I WENT THERE

[identity profile] onesto-hotel.livejournal.com 2008-01-17 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
18. Psh, I don't think I could stand dating any guy who hated Arrested Development anyway. That guy's obviously a jerk.

28. Loooool...I was probably too busy wishing I had a daemon to pay attention to silly things like omelette-making while reading that book. XD

35. I don't dislike them for being stereotypically "strong" or "weak" or ANYTHING...I just don't like female characters. I tend to complain about women in real life, despite being a girl myself. I guess I just don't like the way most women act, whether real or fictional. Like, if they were male characters who acted that way, I would still hate them. It's their personalities that make me want to shove them all off a cliff.

41) LOL Baldur's Gate secret, awesome. I miss you Baldy.

Um, yeah, I tried to woo Anomen the first time, but eventually I got way too tired of him, dumped him and booted him out of the party. XD

Yay game mods.

46. Wow. I haven't kept up with VK for a while (I'm wondering why not right now, really) and I generally don't like incest, but that would be HOT. *___*

[identity profile] powercorrupts.livejournal.com 2008-01-17 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
13. Because character traits are bad icky things that we want to get away from, right? Penelo is a cool character but... disliking a cast of interesting characters for reasons like those just strikes me as really shallow. I just wish I could have someone explain to me one of these days why characters have to be nice and young and pretty to be likeable.

35. I'm much too tired to really go into all this, but really, there are two things that really baffle me about fandom - the people who seem to dislike characters for stupid reasons (the character isn't your best friend, you don't have to like them as a person to find them interesting or well-written DX), and the people who have double-standards and hate one character for something they like in other characters, especially when it's a gender thing. By which I mean, all I really have to say it, wtf?

13 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-01-17 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
XDXDXD

I don't think I ever said that I disliked the other ones explicitly...

They also have to be alive to be likeable, don't forget!! /sarcasm.

And wherein did I say that any of them are ugly? Sure, Vaan looks like a male stripper but...

I think that Ashe is really stuck up in the beginning (Don't interrupt me, I'm thinking) and maybe she gets better...

And ummm...I don't know about Basch?! There isn't any other criticism to make. He's a BAMF! Oh my god is he!!!!

OMG ANOMEN! You handsome spineless doormat you! Always pissed me off that guys got a freaking harem and we're stuck with this guy.

I remember reading about how if his personal plotline goes poorly he becomes a "bad boy". Ooo my interest was piqued and I made sure we f'ed it up good... Um, no, not a bad boy. More like a rabid wombat. Even more intolerable then before. I reverted to a previous save.

No matter how much scorn you heaped upon him he still wanted to "show you love".

"Have I ever told you how I decided to become a priest?"

"Well gee Anomen, I don't think you have. Have I ever told you how inappropriate it is to try and woo me with tender tales of your past while we are trying to sneak past this huge fucking shadow dragon?"

That being said. I did print out that picture and put it in a silver frame with hearts on it to set on my desk at work. I love LOVE LOVE how it looks like it was ripped off the cover of a romance novel.

If you look around enough, you can find what you need to at least lie and say you've seen it. All of the original crazy Sondheim goodness that is Sweeney Todd is up on Youtube, if you've seen the RENT movie you just need to listen to the OBCR, and Rogers and Hammerstein movie-musicals (really most older ones) are basically the same as the stage versions.

All it takes is some work on Google, Youtube, and Limewire, really.

Re: 43

[identity profile] theorygirl.livejournal.com 2008-01-17 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
My first thought: Does anyone really care about the differences between the movies and the stage version of older shows? Nobody's gonna jump on you about Silk Stockings, seriously.
My second thought: The movie versions of Rodgers and Hammerstein shows are not basically the same, but again, I don't think anyone's going to debate it or anything.

22) Really? I thought if either of them was a canon match for Fuu, it would be Jin. The two of them... just seemed closer.

41) SQUEEE! I never thought I'd see this game here. And yes, sanctimonious dick that he was, in some ways he was still rather hot. And he could do his share of damage once he leveled enough.

I still wish they'd had time to give us more male-npc romance options, though. Even Minsc or Jan would have been good for variety.

Re: 22, 41

[identity profile] noneko.livejournal.com 2008-01-17 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
Aaah, Minsc. That would be like romancing a child. A very large, muscle bound child. Boo had all the brains in that operation. XP

He was hawt, though, I will admit it.

Ugh I hate Ramos' art so much. All his drawings look like retarded monkey babies. I hope his run is really short. D:

[identity profile] michirukaiou.livejournal.com 2008-01-17 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
35. I agree with this, to some extent. I don't hate all female characters, but I do hate that in order for a female character to be appreciated, she must be strong-willed, fiesty, independent, kick-ass, etc. (Even more so if she is the main character.) Although these qualities do work well for some characters, I still think that a female character does not have to fit that stereotype in order to be interesting.

14, 33

[identity profile] shadhahvar.livejournal.com 2008-01-17 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
14.) Wait. Furry-haters opened your eyes? How? They're usually self-proclaimed active despisers of anything they think they can so much as nudge toward a label of "furry." That just sounds... sad? To me. Haters shouldn't be that effective.

33.) I love Goldenwolf's artwork! I'm sorry that the stigma leaves you wanting to disassociate. I've always been a fan of anthropomorphic artwork, stories, and such, but was never therian or furry myself. I have friends who are, and a few who were, but the friends I have who have a big, wobbly mass of hate and disgust for "furries" have always bewildered me. Hello, folks, but let's be less hypocritical here. Look at fandom! Fandoms have tons of porn, too, but you rarely hear folks being into fandoms "just for the porn!" People who invest time and energy in stigmatizing "furries" haven't done enough research, and are often closed minded on the subject of therianism or anthropomorphizing or the nature of a "furry" and lack understanding of any of these titles/labels. Oh. Except, the general, "Furry = Gross people who fantasize that they're animals and want to fuck your Zebra/Gryphon/Sea Horse fursona named Bobzilla."

(Anonymous) 2008-01-17 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
8) Wow. Someone takes things a little too seriously

30) I hardly see how using some photos as a reference to get anatomy correct is some horrible crime. I'm sure there are many artists who do it. If the proportions were messed up people would be complaining about how crappy the art was.

And keep in mind that shonen mangaka especially run on a tight schedule if they're in a weekly magazine, and sometimes the best way to get things the way you want them to look is to use a reference occasionally. Even if it is tracing, so what? It's not the entire manga (or even the entire panel in this case) and it's not taking another mangaka's work either.
