Are you honestly insinuating that Peter Parker isn't the most boring character in all existence

ahahahahahahahaha

(Anonymous) 2015-06-25 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
he's not, though

what makes him boring

(Anonymous) 2015-06-25 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
He's white.

That's the only reason I can think of.

Fantastic argument there, Nonny.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-25 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
That's what it comes down to as to why people prefer Miles over Peter. It's not like Miles is more interesting.

That's a biggie for me. POC make up about 70% of comic readers, so the constant focus on people we can't relate to is super off-putting and makes it very difficult to like them.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-25 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
You can only relate to someone if they have your skin color?

Where did you get the 70 % information from? Honestly interested.

What makes him not boring though? To me Peter Parker is boring because there's nothing interesting about him. And please, this has nothing to do with the fact that he's a white dude.

Lolwhut?

I could get the argument that Peter is annoying, but boring????????? Have you ever actually read a Spider-Man comic, or have you only watched the Rami movies where he, like, doesn't make jokes at all and has no super-fun relationship with MJ and stuff?

(Anonymous) 2015-06-26 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
Considering we're talking about Spider Man movies here, I'm not sure what old comics about his nerd personality have to do with anything.

The only people who think Peter Parker is boring are SJWs and Tumblrinas who are triggered that people would prefer a white guy over Miles.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-25 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Yawn, nice strawman. I don't give a shit about SJW issues, and Peter bores me to tears. Not that Miles is a whole lot better, mind you, but Peter's so goddamned played out at this point that there's literally nothing left they can do with him to make him even remotely interesting.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-25 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Seriously, we've how many Peter Parker Spiderman movies now? We've had two origin movies for him and it's kinda played out. Heaven forbid people get tired of seeing him.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-25 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
We've had far more Superman films and Batman films than Spider-Man films but for some reason no one has issue with Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne.

See now, you've stumbled on a good reason why Parker should disappear and we should focus on another spider man. He's not a boring character, we've just seen him too many times before.

That said, a lot of his haters are fucking tumblrinas.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-25 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I feel like this hits the nail on the head. I already thought the last reboot was piling it on, and now another one with another Peter Parker? At least Miles Morales would have been a fresh and new take on Movie!Spider-Man.

lmao, i like how in the same breath you decry sjw oversensitivity while getting this defensive over white people

like, calm down

(Anonymous) 2015-06-25 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Anti-SJWs are just as bad as SJWs, I've found.

And people who aren't interested in a character who has essentially become a self-insert vehicle for whiny aging nerdboys who feel the universe has done them wrong.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-25 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
This tbh? To me its not that Peter himself is boring, but the constant revisiting of his story is tedious and he often isn't written to his full potential.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-26 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
I've never been a big Spidey fan, but all that stuff about rebooting him because he was in danger of "not being Spiderman" anymore if he wasn't a nerdy loser living with his Aunt, so he couldn't be allowed to settle down in a happy marriage with his wife and kid, made me lose interest in getting interested. Why not have him grow? Why the fuck would people who enjoyed the way his character grew and changed and bettered himself want to watch him get stuck in the "nerdy reject" box again?

Wow, that's just... you could not be any less right if you tried. Peter's weird inner and outer conflicts are fascinatingly twisted, and if you're not aware of that, well, maybe don't go opining about characters you don't know anything about?

I mean, nobody's saying you have to be familiar with every character. But you don't hear me talking about why Starbuck sucks, because I've never watched BSG, so I neither form nor offer an opinion. Try that. It frees up time.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-26 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Fascinating" is your subjective opinion, not objective truth.

Have you seen Cyclops? I mean Peter Parker isn't the best character ever, but at least he's witty, which is what a lot of people like.
