Re: I feel like complete shit. TW: Weight talk
(Anonymous) 2015-08-08 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)Also to gain one pound you have to eat around 3500 excess calories apparently, so it might not be as bad as you think if you haven't weighed yourself yet.
Re: I feel like complete shit. TW: Weight talk
(Anonymous) 2015-08-08 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)When I diet, I eat 1200 calories a day and work out 1 hour about 4 times a week. I've been bingeing and eating at least 3000 calories a day for 14 days - that would cause a 5 pound weight gain.
Re: I feel like complete shit. TW: Weight talk
(Anonymous) 2015-08-08 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)Do you restrict yourself a lot when it comes to what you eat? I mean, besides the obvious number of calories. I also try to be around 1200 calories a day at least for a little while more, and I feel that it would be a lot harder for me at least if I just restricted myself to eating healthy all the time, so I try not to deny myself an ice cream as long as I still come around 1200 or even a bit above (as long as I am under 1500 I'm still at a decent deficit I feel if I've done any sort of activity during the day) I still fail sometimes though. Like, yesterday I bought a tub of mocha ice cream and ate it all in mostly one setting. While it was a delicious 800 calories I also regretted it a bit afterwards.
Maybe you should try upping your daily calorie count a bit? Especially considering you workout 4 times a week. Your body needs fuel to move around! I'm obviously not an expert though, and still fairly new to actually trying to get in shape so what do I know?
Maybe you should check out r/loseit? I personally lurk around there and feel like I get some tips out of it. It's also nice to know you're not alone, whether it comes to failures or victories.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-09 01:22 am (UTC)(link)Morning. A big breakfast. Usually a couple of bowls of Cheerios at 250 calories each - that's big bowls of cereal, but actually not particularly filling so that's 500. A big bowl of blueberries and an apple pushes it to 800.
Lunch. Lighter because it's close to breakfast. A salad with chickpeas and tomatoes (300 calories) and hummus with pita bread (200 calories). A couple of Oreos for dessert and I've reached 1460 already.
Snacks. A chocolate, maybe another Oreo, 1620.
Dinner. 3 slices of pizza, 300 calories each. 2520. Avocado dip and a dessert shared with my family pushed it up to 2800. These are just estimations, but it really does add up a lot more than you think it does. I'm a pretty small girl but dieting seems to knock my appetite up to 11.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-09 09:53 am (UTC)(link)I am just so confused on how you think 3000 calories is unreasonable. For that matter, lots of athletes go on 3000+ calorie diets (even 5,000, even 10,000) and are healthy because they burn it all off.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-09 12:49 pm (UTC)(link)I know what a binge eating disorder is, and I also know that a 3000 calorie daily diet is not the magical qualification.
Re: I feel like complete shit. TW: Weight talk
(Anonymous) 2015-08-10 02:06 am (UTC)(link)OP has 1200 calories while dieting
OP switches to 3000 calories while binging
OP has gained back 5 pounds of weight during binging
OP has presented no other factors in this equation
So here's a pop quiz:
What happens when you are used to a certain amount of calories, and then suddenly start taking in 2.5 times the amount of calories you are used to?
Go ahead, I'll wait.

I once read about a lady who was eating closer to 11000 (before changing her eating habits). I myself have gone through 1000 calories' worth of Oreos before lunch -- thankfully, that was a one time thing.
