I'm not saying the guy isn't at fault, calm down for a second. Just saying that even if he's the horniest sex-fiend on the face of the planet, in the end, I think the girl usually has more control (or lack thereof) on the situation.

I find the idea that men are horny, mindless, sub-human sex fiends who can't control their raging erections long enough to think the consequences of their sexual encounters through to the extent a woman can extremely insulting on behalf of men.

You are buying into really frustrating stereotypes that insult both sexes.

I'm not really buying into anything, my opinions on this subject are entirely based on people I know or have known in real life. I can't even say I need to find a new social group, either, as there are several. I don't consider it insulted when, in my experience, it's the truth.

Well, uh, if every "truth" was based on personal experience and opinions, the world would be in a whole lot of trouble.

That line of reasoning is often used to excuse negative opinions about entire groups of people. It's a really slippery slope you have to be careful of, and if you're going to take that stance, I can't even bother trying to reason with you, because there is no way I can logically counter something like "I know a few people like this, so it must be true for everyone."

So good luck in trying to defend your position further with other people. Something tells me you're going to need it.

Maybe you could try, I dunno, actually doing some reading and seeing if there is any evidence to support your opinion -- or if, in fact, most of the evidence disproves it? Call me crazy, but while many of my opinions have a personal aspect to them, they're also based largely on evidence and logic.

Men and women have equal sex drives, although obviously men are made to feel more comfortable about being outspoken about it. Likewise, they both have equal control over their sex drives. And the idea that men have less "control" over their sex drives -- aside from being insulting to men as well -- is a very dangerous one, because it leads to the thought process that if a woman dresses a certain way or flirts in a certain way and she is raped, it's partially her fault, because the poor man just couldn't "control" himself with her dressed/acting like that.
