__________ Rage

[personal profile] kaijinscendre 2015-10-07 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
What are those things/people that make you angry as fuck but that you can't express for various reason (have to be nice, can't be angry at the object of your anger, etc)?

I was helping my mom with a computer problem and watching her made me want to pull my hair out. Every time she went to a new site, she would hit the back button until she got to Google, would search the website, and click on it from there. I've tried showing her how to do it the normal way but it won't stick. All I can do is scream inside my own head and hope to fix the problem as quickly as possible.

Seeing people who are younger than me smoking. I don't like it in general, but older people who grew up with the "9 out of 10 doctors smoke Camels" BS, they get a pass. I got "Smoking is bad, mmkay?" drilled into my head as a youngster, so anyone who came after me has no fucking excuse.

Oh, I know! I just don't get how someone can think they are a good idea. I get peer pressure and all that but ugh.

My partner, who is borderline abusive. For various reasons I'm choosing to stay and hope I can support them through their issues, and stay okay myself. But I still can't help getting fucking angry sometimes.

Well, if they are abusive, you should think about leaving. Your health comes before anyone else's.

A couple days ago

I occasionally check up on reddit for some of the good subreddits and for discussion and support places. The other day on /r/aspergers there was some nutcase who kept remaking account to rant about his crazy desire to kill his mother and her family for giving him aspergers and generally trolling comm and worse, harassing and attacking the parents who come asking for questions about their autistic children.

He's hostile and goes around attacking people and insisting that his negative experience is the only right one and telling people to shut up if they say anything else. He's harassing scared, worried and upset parents who are already feeling bad enough. They don't need this jackass telling them they're awful people who subjected their children to a horrible life by having them.

I know that he's probably mentally ill or trolling and its no use replying. The admins of the comm are doing the best they can to take care of it. I know I shouldn't get involved, and its no use anyway. But it was really tempting to rip into him and tell him to fuck off.

(if he replied to me in something I probably would have. Because damn it if someone is saying that my little sisters shouldn't have been born because they MIGHT have what I have, I'd rip them a new one.)

Ugh I hate that shit. The other day someone on Reddit replied to me with some narrow-minded ignornant bullshit acting like an expert on a topic that they clearly knew nothing about. I don't think they were trolling, just an idiot, and it's like...I know there are morons in the world and I shouldn't let them get to me, but still, it pissed me off.

Yeah, I can see why that would make you mad. Especially since you can't do ANYTHING about it.

Re: __________ Rage

(Anonymous) 2015-10-08 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
My mom's similar sometimes when she's looking up stuff online. Instead of just clicking out of a tab, she clicks the red x.

Mine would be the customers at where I work. I usually encounter at least one of these five groups of people, if not more:

-The people who ask me to look up a book for them, but can't tell me the title OR author OR even what it's about sometimes. Thanks. That helps.
-The people that gripe at me if I have to ask for their ID. Of course, if I didn't ask, and we had some sort of card breach, then those same customers would bitch and be like, "Well, you guys should keep track of that stuff!" *Throws up hands*
-The people who get mad when I tell them they can't return something because it's past the date our return policy allows. I often have people asking me in that case, "Well, what am I supposed to do with this book now?" I dunno, give/sell it to someone else? Have a garage sale and put it out? That's a problem that's kind of out of my hands.
-The parents who don't pay a whit of attention to their kids and let them run around the store and move things around and toss stuff, or parents. No, yeah, I'll totally babysit your kids. Not like I already have a job to do or anything.
-The people who feel the need to spout their personal political views at me (which I often strongly disagree with to boot), and say them in a way that assumes I'll naturally agree.

But of course, I have to be as polite as possible when bringing all this stuff up with the customers, or, especially in the case of the political views, just not say anything at all. Just gotta hold my tongue and save my eye-rolling and ranting for when they're not around.

My parents both will, when they're finished looking at one site, close the browser out altogether and then re-open it to go to another site. No matter how many times I explain that they can just go to a different site in the same window, they don't get it.

My dad in the car. We were going to pick up my prescriptions after the movie because my mom was in pain and couldn't drive with me. My dad can't handle going anywhere we don't know. I've been to that pharmacy exactly once, but he expected me to direct him and then yelled at me when I couldn't. I started crying like I was a little girl again. He decided we were going to call my mom (good plan) and told me to "pull myself together" I think so she wouldn't know I was crying.

Basically, my dad is a horrible driver who hates it and it makes him mad every time. And I want to yell back at him, but that never helped anything.

Ah, I know some bad/nervous drivers. My mom is a nervous driver with road rage. She is really fun in the car. Like, she literally can't drive through mountains. Hell, she can't even take them as a passenger.

People who overreact to shit too soon and start a pity party for me when I'm like, "Uh... well, this is awkward. I'm gonna go fix my problem now." But mostly they make me want to vomit all over their face.

And I completely understand your rage. That sounds horrible.

People who make fun of America's gun problem. Yeah we're getting shot and killed because a relatively small portion of the population doesn't want to let go of its toys, so fucking funny. But I can't get mad because: "We're laughing at the stupid laws, not the people getting killed!" (OK, try saying that when you and your family are in danger of it happening to you) or: "You should be mad at the shooters instead of the people making fun of them!" (no room for both, as always)

People lying, then when you call them out on it they insult and claim you don't know what you're talking about.

You are literally lying and claiming something is a common scientific fact when it is not. Stop fucking lying.

Windows 7 update is such a piece of shit. A progress bar and text completion indicator that are completely meaningless, no way to say, "I want this now" (as opposed to whenever this system is indicators), and unfortunately I can't just switch back to my primary computer, where I just bought a swank handbag and hula girl for my virtual truck. I don't want to hand off this old beater of a computer to family without patching 2 and a half years of bugs.

Then there was the faculty consultant who filled up the end of the day with oversharing. And he's entirely right, but I can't really say anything without opening a big can of worms about my department.

Mostly people just being annoying at work - like telling me how to do shit I know how to do. It's work so I feel like I have to be nice. I carefully measure the discomfort I express verbally so I don't cross any lines. That's one annoying thing about being at work. :|

Your mother's manner of browsing sounds a little like mine. I don't think she's ever tried using the scroll wheel on the mouse as she always resorts to the scroll bar and it took ages for her to learn not to close the whole browser window and just close tabs.

Mum may learn a bit but sometimes it doesn't feel like it when she runs into some issue.
