(Anonymous) 2015-12-03 12:03 am (UTC)(link)I've never liked Jessica. Not in the comics, and not now. There are way better characters who should've got their own series, IDK why Marvel picked her.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-03 12:17 am (UTC)(link)What I don't like about it is they seem to belabor every. single. plot point. to death. Like, give the viewers a little bit of credit.

Eh...
(Anonymous) 2015-12-03 03:28 am (UTC)(link)In the comics, the artist seemed to be trying to make a point of JJ being ordinary-looking. So the TV version is definitely a Hollywood interpretation of the character.

I don't actually think Kristen Ritter looks all that much like Jessica from the comics but I liked her in the show so it didn't bother me.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-03 12:56 am (UTC)(link)Jessica Jones I liked a bit better but it definitely had a tendency to drag and took itself too seriously sometimes. I like Krysten Ritter but I will admit that she tended to struggle with the cheesy comic dialogue at times (someone just bring back Don't trust the B.)
Both this show and Daredevil had the problem of the dialogue and story being SUPER OBVIOUS. Everyone said what you'd expect them to say, the plot went exactly where you'd expect it to go. I hope both improve in the second season.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-03 01:22 am (UTC)(link)I hadn't seen Krysten Ritter in anything since Veronica Mars, so I didn't know what to expect, but she was really great. I think the peripheral characters needed a bit more development, such as her neighbours, and I thought Carrie Anne Moss was a bit terrible. But Jessica Jones and Luke Cage had a LOT of chemistry together, and so did Jessica and Kilgrave except super creepily. I also think Kilgrave's power was just SO terrifying, and put to good use story-wise. The casual way he orders people to do things really showed how he'd never had anyone say 'no' to him before, and even though I found him disgusting, he was also charming and amusing. David Tennant really sold it. And why wouldn't he want to attach himself to a Marvel property? Lucrative and extremely popular, it's a good choice for any actor at the moment.

I'm not going to say JJ is the best show on tv, but it suited my tastes perfectly and it didn't take much to get me hooked.
But I also thought Krysten was a very believable, flawed character and that appealed to me; I liked her in the role. As for David, he was a spectacular Kilgrave; I can't imagine anyone else playing that character now. (By far the most terrifying villain in the MCU for me, as well as...pretty much anywhere. I can't 'like' him, but David deserves props.)
