New Year, New Experience

[personal profile] herpymcderp 2016-01-09 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Well the first week of 2016 is up. Has anyone here done anything or learned anything new in that time?

Personally, I found out what a bedbug looks like. Pretty gross, really.

I wrote a fanfic, turns out fanfics are pretty cool.

D: Mine were pretty easy (but they weren't impacted at all). Sorry to hear you had a rough time.

I came up with a couple of goals/resolutions. That was my only new experience this week. :/

1. Find a new job.
2. Get out more. Party more. Meet more people. Date more. Have more sex.
3. Find a new hobby. I'm having trouble thinking of one though.
4. Save my money. Pay off a three year car loan in one year.

I'mma copy #2. Welll except the dating thing of course, because that would be disingenuous. 2015 was a pretty dry year.

Week one nearly finished of "D Tox" program. I hate the word D Tox and I'm already pretty healthy, but I'm doing it to try different foods while avoiding others. I eat a ton of greek yogurt but I can't eat dairy on this program. And those frozen food meals? Bye bye! So far I'm learning what it really means to meal prep your meals for the week. And that it is possible to get a side effect of hot flashes. Which is weird at 37 years old! I've got two more weeks to go, so I hope to make the best of it.

That sounds like an overall positive experience and a commitment to better nutrition if it's not just a temporary thing.

I hope you learn some good tools for yourself, anon!

Does this claim to be an actual "detox" diet? Because that stuff is nonsense. Your body gets rid of toxins by itself, assuming your liver and kidneys are functioning properly. If it didn't, you'd die. No diet will "detox" you.

I experienced for myself how infuriatingly rude the people at SSI are.

SSI? Ohhh, social security.

The trick is to go in looking visibly disabled, then they leave you the hell alone.

I've been on SSI for years. Most of them do suck.

I have pink eye, an ear infection, and a cold. The cold's not new but the other two are. I could honestly have lived my whole life without knowing how pink eye felt, and my ear is bugging me so much right now.

I guess I can only hope that the shitty start to the year means that the rest of your year will be flowers and sunshine.

Oh no. You're not dealing with an infestation, are you? ):

No, that would be awful. Someone up there is looking out for us, because only one seems to have stowed away on someone's luggage and there is no sign of any others.

I learned I don't want to be a teacher and now I don't know what to say when people ask me what I want to be. I genuinely have no clue.

Re: New Year, New Experience

I had this experience when I was a lot younger. I'm really glad I spent that year teaching in Japan because it lead me to that conclusion without having to spend a lot of time in school figuring it out.

If you're anything like me, anon, it'll come to you. There are a lot of things to love out there if you love learning. :)

Ahh, you don't know what a bedbug looks like because you have bedbugs, do you? If so, I'm so sorry. That is some shit.

I learned what a hair tourniquet is. That was not so fun.

However, I also started learning shoulder mode on my puppyhammer, which is super fun! So yay!

Re: New Year, New Experience

[personal profile] herpymcderp 2016-01-09 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
Apparently we had a single one. Inspector/exterminator guy said it was probably a stowaway from public transportation or air travel. He couldn't find anything else... no eggs, no nothing, so... touch wood.

Dang! I hope there's no lasting nerve damage with the hair tourniquet. Those can indeed be quite serious.

Also the puppyhammer looks awesome!

my sympathies. Bedbugs suck and take a long time to get rid of.
