2. I can see what you're saying, but I do think one of the few good things in the current arc is that she has been getting some character development. (Not to mention defeating an Espada without even using bankai, which neither Ichigo nor Renji have managed thus far.) I am holding onto hope that she will continue to get more attention, even though there are so many characters in the series already that it's probably a thin hope. :/

Too Big 2: You know what they say about assuming. Last time I checked, I had a collection of VHS tape anime from back in the day. I had to look at anime in the porn aisle of the video stores because it was considered less than that at the time. I taped everything I could off tv. I suffered through really bad dubs. I watched fansubbed videos and all that good old school crap...and I still download anime. It's there for me to watch. It's not coming out in the states for at least a year. I might as well download it. And if it kicks ass, I'll add it to my collection when/if it ever gets licensed. In short, I don't give a shit what you think. The only ones ruining things are the people who sit back and bitch about things like that, trying to make people feel bad with your big bad cred and useless guilt trips. Get over yourself.

I remember when anime first hit the American shores and people were calling it "Japanimation". I still cringe when I hear that word. I remember scouring the internet (such as it was back then) for translations of manga. And I too still download anime. I find it more fun to stay ahead of the game with new titles anyway.

Oh, don't feel bad! I have kind of complicated personal canon about this that helped me get past my similar problem. I think Heiderich is very patriotic, and wants to help make Germany a strong country again, and has kind of never questioned some of the nastier beliefs that his peers hold. But, I think his friendship with Ed causes him to look beyond the bigotry with which he's been indoctrinated. By the end, after all, he sees that Noa is a good person, and he chooses helping Ed over his own interests. This is getting TL;DR, I know, but in a nutshell, I think it's an important part of Alfons's development that he can move from working on the same side as the Nazis to seeing how they are wrong.

You're comparing apple and oranges. Scott McCloud isn't talking about animation in this book. He's talking about /comics/. Please, if you're going to cite information, do it on the actual subject. And I'm really sorry to say but, without the advances from America, and/or other countries that started way before the Japanese in the 50's/60's, there might not even be anime for you to get all wet about.
