Even though I'm A Kuzaang shipper, I think that the wank caused by this would be absofuckinglutely HILLARIOUS to witness. (And seriously guys, what's stopping fans from shipping whoever they want together. That's the beauty of fandom!)

*sigh* To make one thing clear: The movie is set in 1923. In 1923, the NSDAP was not much more than a joke to most people - before the Beer Hall Putsch, they hadn't even taken part in a legitimate Reichstagswahl and their only "local" success was in Bavaria. The vast majority of Germans had never heard of the party or that "weird painter Hitler". Heck, the party preceding it, the DAP, was so miniscule their membership register was started at the number 501 to make them seem more important than they were!

(incidentally, when Hitler joined, he had the number 555 - so he was the 54th member, nearly a year after the DAP was founded - THAT's how tiny and unimportant they were)

And the Thule Society... was far from mainstream. Its founder only established it to further his own occult theories offside the Germanenorden. The anti-Seminism, anti-Communism, racist ideals only entered the picture later, and were never intended by the founder. They poured money into various projects they considered interesting (including the DAP) or beneficial to their 'studies' (i.e., and I quote Wikipedia because my sources aren't in English, [a] primary focus of Thule-Gesellschaft was a claim concerning the origins of the Aryan race. "Thule", or Θούλη, was a land located by Greco-Roman geographers in the furthest north.) and later, ironically, dissolved specifically because Hitler severed the ties to it - because he had no interest in it.

Some people who were later important in the regime did have ties to it and occasionally took part in meetings, but most of them were never full members - more guests than anything else.

tl;dr - Thule Society != 100% Nazis. Hence, Heidrich = not a Nazi. And really, what does it matter? He's a fictional character. And that movie... they GENDERSWITCHED A PERSON WHO REALLY EXISTED (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dietrich_Eckart)... and had "her" tentacle raped. Historical accuracy? What historical accuracy?

15. Well, yeah, but honestly, the people who first started drawing anime were inspired by Walt Disney...so it's sort of a big loop, innit? Also, toobig!2: you can summarize this by screaming "YA DAMN KIDS, GET OFF MAH LAWN." I sympathize, really, I was there, man, I've seen it all, I spent way too much on shitty dubbed Sailor Moon VHS tapes that weren't even collecting the whole series or released in order, and I have bitched about people not realizing how good they have it many a time to other such old-schoolers. However, it really is akin to old men screaming at kids about "in the good old days" and "kids these days are so spoiled"--none of the kids actually listen, and just roll their eyes and run along. I suggest you find someone who feels the same way you do and reminisce/complain with a person who has felt the pain. Feel free to contact me if you like, I'm all for it. ♥

No-one laughed (well, okay, very few people laughed) at me for wanting to take Greek in college so I could read the Odyssey in the original. So why should they laugh now that I'm trying to learn Japanese so I can read/watch other things I like in the original?

Of course, right now I'm at the stupid-wannabe stage of learning, but I don't mind people laughing at me for that.

1: ...That writing is pretty damn bad. Rowling is not a genius or anything, but she's good. The nooks have their faults, but I generally liked them. I've still not seen a fanfic that's better than canon writing, though mistful comes close (and the prose in her latest one is simply delightful; I think it's better than Rowling in style, actually). It's hard to compare fanfic with a novel though, since theyre so differently plotted.

2: Wrong on all accounts! Though it was Starzinger rather than Speed Racer in my case.

Of course, I do buy anime I like if it's released in my country (in a decent quality); it's just that so few titles are. I have to download if I want to see most of the anime I'm interested in. Either that, or buy imported, and that's really frowned upon as it wrecks the domestic market.
