51. I'll never forget the fateful day I saw Sailor Moon on Cartoon Network by random chance, and I remember being so excited I was almost having a heart attack, and that started me into fandom. Soon I had merch, and I was Sailor Venus for Halloween, and I bought the videos--

Point is, if I'd never seen it that one day, I wouldn't have found 1) the amazing epic tale that is Sailor Moon or 2) anime in general, so I see where you're coming from loud and clear. You never forget your first time.

8 - I understand this assessment and agree to some extent. At this point in his characterization, I can't see it either.

15 - I did one forever and a day ago, and while it's horribly cliched and whatnot, it makes me giggle to this day. Esp. since it's for an unpopular pairing As far as I know, the fandom is still active, so by all means, give it a shot!

52 - Adding in another 'your friend is a douche' vote here. D:

64 - Pfft. I see...another elitist cosplayer gets a nice serving of karma? ;)

67 - I love the concept, I just wish Goku had actually been there for Chichi. =\ I don't think I ever pitied anyone in the series more than Chichi.

2. You would have loved the books we used, which actually had romantic subplots and dialog.

-Takeshi-san loves Meriji(Mary)-san, but Meriji-san feels uncertain due to the language/culture barrier, and she's afraid he only likes her because she's different and new as an exchange student.
-As Takeshi tries to put the moves on her (inviting her to the library to study, asking her to meet him at the train station on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in order to see a movie, and taking her shopping for books, pencils, and shoes before going to ear pork, chicken, and noodles.), suddenly, Roberto-san arrives! Another exchange student, from Spain!
-Meanwhile, Meriji's friend Soo-san (a Korean exchange student) has a crush on an anti-social kid (can't remember his name) who later tries to kill himself when he doesn't get into the high school of his choice.

Hilariously, all this stuff is in the book. Study group was amazing.

It seems pretty clear to me that you feel worse for the characters because you identify with them or just care about them, but you obviously had issues with the person you actually knew who committed suicide. It sucks sometimes how deeply one person can impact us and cloud our worldview for the rest of our lives.
