I... that point of view really doesn't make any sense to me, at all. I'm not quite able to pinpoint why but I guess I'd say: just because they're allowed to fuck doesn't mean that they can do whatever they want, no consequences. They still have all of the same moral questions and difficulties as any other human being or fictional character. Including one with magical powers. The idea that, for them to have drawbacks and sacrifices, it has to happen in this specific way is... ridiculous.

I mean Christ some pretty bad shit seems to have happened to Luke and there's no indication it had anything to do with him fucking or not fucking.

I like it because of the idea that serving a higher power comes with personal sacrifices. They're space-monks. They live in a temple! I mean yes real life nuns and monks and other very strict religious groups do run into problems and have their drawbacks, but I can't think of many other big franchises that have that sort of thing for main characters.

Sex is just such a huge part of media, can you really not imagine a universe where people would willingly give it up to follow a higher calling?

I can imagine it and it's been done in other places but I think the whole point of the prequels is that the Jedi created an unhealthy space by trying to force their members to live up to the no emotional attachments rule.

It was addressed a bit in The Clone Wars and in KOTOR... and it's not something Obi-Wan or Yoda seemed to impress on Luke, so I think they realized what an error it was after Anakin.

I'd rather that be disgarded, there's still lots of other rules for them to follow.

I love sex in all sorts of media for all sorts of reasons (storytelling, smut, whatever) but agree with you about the notion that Jedi were basically space monks. That doesn't mean that people didn't get married or have sex but, ideally they lived chaste lives and devoted themselves to the force. I mean, that's basically what they were modeled after. I think the light side in general is about personal sacrifice and abstaining from things like passionate emotion and about finding equalibrium. A little bit of sacrifice (or a lot) is certainly part of that. I wish more people would take the time to watch Lucas' old documentaries about where he borrowed his ideas from when he conceived of the Jedi.

Even in movies like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon you have two older warriors who were in love, but never saw it through because they were so devoted to their duties and honor. Mirroring that you have the young romantic pair who jump into a passionate romance. Sacrifice is a huge theme in this movie.

Except Lucas himself said that Jedis can have sex, just not forming attachments.
