I have no desire to name my kids after anything in fandom but I have tons of fandom names I want to apply to pets haha. I'm not close to actually adopting any of my own pets yet but I have tons of ideas. For some reason the one that's stuck with me for a while is Nynaeve and Egwene as names for cats.

I've always liked the name Hermione, which 1) is totally associated with Harry Potter and people would make assumptions and 2) I would end up being That Asshole who would always be like "ACTUALLY, I named her Hermione after the protagonist of H.D.'s series of autobiographical novels."

Yusei (as in Yusei Fudo from Yu-Gi-Oh 5Ds). I'm a fan of the character and I love the name, but I couldn't name my kid that.

There's several characters in various shows I watch called Eugene. I just really like that name for some reason.

Not really embarrassing due to being fairly stealthy.

In the increasingly unlikely event I have a daughter, I'd really like to name her Anita. (The character in my icon.)

ROD isn't exactly unknown, but it's hardly the phenomenon some media are, and Anita's a pretty common name. The fact that my daughter, if I got my way on the naming, would probably end up named Anita King (the full name of the character) makes it better.

I have no desire to have children, so this isn't an issue for me. I do want a pair of huskies named Arthas and Jaina in the future though.

idk if its " "fandom " " but I love the name Medea, but I've been told naming a child after a literary child killer is inappropriate or whatever.

Also my partner now loves the name Theodosia, which is another debatably fandom name (she definitely got it from Hamilton, but it is a real, if mostly defunct name.)

I like Aeris and Tifa from Final Fantasy VII, because they roll off the tongue so nice and Aeris sounds a bit like Alice or Ellis, and Tifa sounds like a nickname for Tiffany.

I also like Zelda - which I know is a "real" name but I've never met a Zelda who wasn't from the 1920s and I feel like the name is probably most associated with The Legend of Zelda.

My son's name is Owen and everyone thinks it's because of Jurassic World :( Really it's a family name and I didn't even see the movie until Christmas.

I've loved the name Edward for a really long time and I associate it with Edward Elric from FMA, but people would probably think I named my kid after that guy from Twilight.

I would completely name a child Faybelle, though that kind of borders the line between fantasy fake and real.

God help any boys i may have (hopefully not having kids anyway), because i would unironically call him either Nathaniel, Victor, or Edgar.

None of mine are embarrassing, though. They're normal English-language names that happen to also relate to characters. I have two older siblings, so they know I have dibs on two names, although they are both boy names and I would slightly prefer a daughter.

The first name is Simon (middle name probably Aaron for familial reasons), for Simon Illyan of the Vorkosigan books and Simon Morley of Time and Again and a couple other personal reasons.

The second name is Geoffrey (must be spelled this way), for the Geoffrey Plantagenet in The Lion in Winter because I am a gigantic dork.

this is really embarrassing lmao. when i was like 16 and the discussion of naming your kid popped up, i said i would name it ciel (name from the anime, kuroshitsuji), if it was a boy and if it was a girl, angelytha (a name i made up).

I'm never having kids, so Bilbo Spock Skywalker and Arwyn FourthDoctor Winchester are going to be okay socially.

I would absolutely name a boy Luke, after the protag of Tales of the Abyss. And I could get away with it because that's a pretty normal name where I'm from!

Saria, on the other hand...bit more conspicuous. Or Lyra. or Jolene.

If I, for what ever reason, ever have twins, tbey will be named Jason and Jaina (if they are fraternal twins).

It still calls back to a fandom, but isn't anywhere near as obvious as Luke and Leia. Not to mention I'll only use Jason, not Jacen.

This, to the average normal person/society, it's not an obvious fandom thing. To a Star Wars fan, they'll roll their eyes or love it.

Panteleimon is actually not an unusual name where my great-grandfather came from--the church in his village was called Agios Panteleimonas--but if I named any hypothetical kid of mine Panteleimon, anyone who was not Orthodox would assume I named him after the character in The Golden Compass.
