Either the Tolkien fandom has one really passionate troll who really hates porn, or there are several of them. Either way, the rudeness and desire to control what other people write is really getting out of hand.

So I wrote a gift fic for someone who has been doing a lot of hard work recently keeping the fandom active. I wrote a porny fic. I haven't written porn in months. So I post it. And I get an anon message telling me that the two of us are turning the fandom into Pornhub. What the hell? How rude. I'm even more annoyed at them for saying this about the other person than me because the other person has been going out of their way to keep the fandom active, running fests and making prizes and generally being amazing. She's written maybe a couple of porn things in the midst of other stuff.

But no, this person seems to be offended by the very existence of porn in this fandom.

Then she'll be busy with that for a while, because I've never seen so much porn as in the Tolkien (or rather LoTR) fandom in it's heyday.

But you might consider the audience you are promoting it to. Is there any rules against adult rated stuff at this forum? Can you promote it somewhere porn is encouraged in stead?

There's one person in Mattel Hybrid School fandom that gets factory rejects of dolls about to be released.

Well, now that they've gotten a SDCC doll that hasn't even been announced, they feel the need to blur, pixellate shots and will release a clear picture when they get enough followers.

Uh, 1) it's a fucking doll
2) just put a watermark on it and show us the clear picture. Stop wasting our time, no one wants to follow you.

Jasper fans are acting victimized because for some reason they think she's absolutely dead for good after falling through the crack in Super Watermelon Island and we're never going to see or hear of her again. Who cares that this assumption makes zero sense, that the writers have said there's a lot about her that we still haven't learned, or that there have been photos of her voice actress recording future episodes with the rest of the cast? "No, she's dead, the characters have an OOC disregard for her life because the Crewniverse hates her and wanted her to be expendable, and the fandom is being cruel by joking about it, bweeeeeeh!"

Fans, why do you try so hard to be upset? Jasper is coming back. Breathe. Be happy. Be patient.

Yeah I mean it would make no narrative sense whatsoever for her to die like that (plus she already survived being tossed into a spaceship's reactor core, causing it to explode and crashing the ship... I don't think she'd die from falling into some hole).
It *wouldn't* have made much narrative sense for the CGs to NOT bubble her indefinitely if they'd had the chance, though, I mean, from their in-story POV, Jasper is seen as purely antagonistic and a threat, and there'd be no reason to keep her around like there was with Peridot. And that wouldn't be a very interesting narrative direction to take with Jasper. Plus, there's a whole bunch of other plot threads going on that they really can't leave hanging at the time. Therefore it makes the most narrative sense to get Jasper offscreen away from the CGs for a now, so that she can plausibly return once there's actually room for her in the plot.

I've heard speculation that the reason for dropping Jasper down a "plot hole" is to give Lapis a few episodes of independent character development without Jasper overshadowing her. I'm all for it, since there's still so much we don't know about Lapis.

Yeah I definitely didn't even begin to think she would be dead. That doesn't make any sense at all. And it'd be too bad if she were - I'm not a stan or anything but I think she's interesting and there's no reason to kill her off at this point.

There is a theory in the Better Call Saul fandom that the reason Jimmy McGill changes his name to Saul Goodman is because he's disbarred under the former name and changes his name to the latter in order to be able to practice law again, AND THATS NOT HOW IT WORKS. Like holy shit he's just gonna change his name but have TV ads, billborads and bus bench ads all over the same exact city with his same exact face in all the ads, just a different name, and nobody will be the wiser??? Sometimes I can't tell if people are trolling or just fucking stupid.

I guess this might sound a bit...bad but I would think he changed his name because Saul Goodman sounds more Jewish. And he would think being a Jewish lawyer would be better for business.

This is a lot of rambling, but I've been having some issues with someone in fandom. There's this crack pairing in my fandom that they absolutely love. Nothing wrong with that. Personally, I don't think it makes sense, considering that A and B of the pairing never met in canon and A is long dead before B is even aware that A ever existed. I'm not a fan of it, but whatever--if it makes those shippers happy, than so be it. I just ignore it and do my own thing. However, one shipper of this pairing would. Not. Stop. Sending asks based around this particular pairing, since it's their otp. And it grew tiresome, to the point where I just closed off requests/asks altogether because I was sick of it and really couldn't ship it. They'd also wedge in their otp in my posts that had absolutely nothing to do with them; it was awkward. It also didn't help that the way this shipper views/writes A and B is incredibly ooc and writes the same thing over and over; it's like they're two completely different characters. So one day they send an ask about their otp yet again, and I describe how I see their relationship using their canon personalities if they met. They get passive aggressive, I don't respond to their passive aggressive post, and the otp asks come to a screeching halt. Whatever.

So later down the line they make a meta post about how fandom views certain characters, and honestly the way it comes off is very generalizing and "holier than thou." I respond saying with reasons why people may see those characters as the way they are, pointing out how poor canon writing can influence fandom's general interpretation. Next thing I know they're screaming in my inbox about how I'm "attacking" their post and want an apology. Then they freak out about how they acted and backpedaled, saying that they were upset because of the "context" and how they were mad at someone else in the fandom over another post of theirs. So it makes sense to take your anger out on someone who had nothing to do with it? Yeah okay.

I know I can just easily block this person, but they also interact with a lot of people I interact with, and I can just imagine a shit storm when they figure out they've been blocked. :/

God, that felt a bit better just venting.

People keep trying to come up with new ways to ask the creator of one of my favorite works to disclose all the characters' sexualities. The answer is always going to be 'it's not relevant to the story and I'm not going to say anything unless and until it becomes relevant'; you are not going to somehow magically trick him into revealing something.

So, Clarkson, Hammond & May (formerly top gear hosts) have finally announced the name of their new Amazon show.

The Grand Tour.

Stupidest name for a car show ever. It sounds like they're doing a 19th century travelogue. Or a travelogue being hosted by old ladies. Idon't keep up with the former tg fandom but I'm sure they love it.

Just realised GT is the reverse of TG. Although technically, it will be TGT. God I hope thats not why they chose it.
