I Like X But Only If Y

What are some kinks or tropes you like, but only in specific circumstances or ways?

(Anonymous) 2016-07-04 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I like daddy!kink pretty much exclusively in f/f

I like incest if it's not fucked up, which means it has to start when both parties are adults and they're not codependent or totally wrapped up with each other to the exclusion of everyone else.

I like D/s but mostly if it's a lot of praise or light discipline. I'm not in it for the roleplaying and definitely not humiliation.

ugh, humiliation is t h e w o r s t

Here's a question: is there a name for dirty talk/banter that's "negative" but contains zero of the typical humiliation-talk tropes? The context is exes hooking up again and one is talking about how bad for each other they were. I want to know how to tag this.

Question: how can you have non-fucked up incest? I mean, it is inherently fucked up. (It's one of my favorite reading tropes, but I just don't understand how you can have happy, fluffy incest.)

Oh god, praise kink is my favorite. That, and service tops. Especially if the sub doesn't feel comfortable with the praise, or with receiving pleasure.

I like deaging but only when it is body and mind being deaged.

I love BDSM as long as there is NO humiliation. Humiliation is a big no for me.

Incest, but only if it involves VERY specific characters.

I also like Hurt/Comfort, if it focuses heavily on the comfort/healing part.

There are a ton I only like when the genders are reversed (either m -> f or f -> m, it doesn't matter) because the original has been done to death. I guess most notably going to save/avenge/rescue someone. The "man must save/rescue/avenge his female" has been done so goddamned fucking much I literally won't consume media that uses that trope. Which writes of a whole swath of (mostly bad) video games, I realize.

If it's a dude s/r/a-ing another dude, sure. A woman s/r/a-ing a woman, sure. But I honest to god can't think of a single game in which a woman s/r/a-s a (grown) man as the driving focus of the narrative. I mean, sure, the new Lara rescues a couple of male minor characters (and fails to save others, another all-too-common spin on this, because women saving men is emasculating, so let's have her fail! /director of Salt) but the end goal and main plot is to save another woman. Mirror's Edge? Another woman. And if a woman is "avenging" something, it's almost always either a child or another woman or her own rape/abuse (i.e. herself, a woman).

Can anyone rec anything where a grown woman s-r-a's a grown man? Preferably saves/rescues, since avenge is apparently okay after a failed rescue attempt, thanks Salt.

Do robots count? Because if I recall correctly, in an episode of G1 Transformers, Elita-One ends up saving Optimus Prime.

I think maybe Dishonored 2 will have that option. It's not quite clear yet, but it looks like there will be a point early in the game where during an attack, you will have to choose which of the two MCs to play for the rest of the game. Some think that the character not chosen will die, but I'm not convinced. In any case, it would probably turn out to be either avenging or rescuing the male MC if you decide to play the female MC.

Well...spoilers - Knight and Day (2010 movie with Tom Cruz and Cameron Diaz) has her rescue him at one point, though there is a LOT of him saving her first.

I think that 2013 movie Beautiful Creatures had the lead girl save her boyfriend. I haven't seen it in awhile so I may be misremembering.

Of course there's Starwars TFA with Rey and Finn a couple times.

Pocahontas actually saves John Smith in the Disney movie.

Underworld - Selene saves Michael a lot in that movie/series.

I know there was a video game where the main character is a girl saving her brother, but I can't remember the name.

Mercedes Lackey's By The Sword (IMO her best book) has the heroine meeting her love interest by rescuing him from enemy captors.

That music video by Brandon Flowers (from The Killers) featuring Charlize Theron? It's not a story but it's got everything you described.

I like bickering couples and the slap-slap-kiss trope, but only if it's m/m or f/f.

I like love triangle tropes if the love triangle makes sense, and if the seemingly sympathetic member of the triangle isn't just as bad as the other person we're supposed to hate. Either make it complicated or make where everyone's awful and you're watching/reading for the train wreck.

I only like boss/employee sorts of pairings when it is a fantasy setting or just in general feudal sort of setting it seems. I used to really hate those pairings until I started shipping Angbang. I just can't do them in real life (or even with realistic sorts of scifi military characters). But with kings and servants and dark lords and lieutenants? I love it.

I only like BDSM sorts of things when they are consensual. Noncon is not a kink for me (except in a non-sexual sense). In order for me to enjoy a kink in a sexual sense, it has to be completely consensual. The submissive character has to be just as in to it (even better if it was their idea in the first place).

aliens made them do it, deaging fic, genderbend, sex pollen, all kinds of weird silly sci-fi tropes

but it either has to be consensual or after they're back to their regular selves. all i really want is the 'change' to be an eye opener.

Re: I Like X But Only If Y

(Anonymous) 2016-07-05 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
Fuck or Die/Sex Pollen, but only if it's the sort where they're just super aroused and ask for help and they both consent. If they're completely out of their mind and don't realize who and what they're doing it is a huge nope for me.

A/B/O, same as above. If they're completely gone to 'heat' and yowling like cats and humping random strangers/streetlights/the section of house under their crush's window or an alpha in 'rut' unable to keep himself from raping everything in sight, I'm out.

Childhood-crush to marriage only works for me if it's requited all along. One person pining for years and the other not noticing or returning their feelings until -plot device- doesn't work for me at all.

I like watersports, but only if it involves desperation somehow. I don't need to see someone getting pissed on.

I like noncon, but only when the victim resists, even if only in their own mind, and does not turn into a self-loathing puddle of goo afterwards.

I like destined romances and soulbonding, but I dislike it if a soulbond forces them to fall in love. I'm fine if it speeds the process, because a telepathic link is another way of getting to know each other, but I want to see some time in the development and evidence that they are actually getting to know each other.
