The new Miss Iron Man just shows that Marvel is running out of ideas by replacing all of their popular characters with minorities, and that they don't believe anyone would be interested in these characters unless they were piggybacking on the established name and popularity of the actual characters.

This just in not making new versions of heroes white is a gimmick and reveals a lack of creativity

Also this is totally not what Marvel has been doing for ages, this is new please ignore that time when Iron Man's buddy wore the armor and also that time when Thor was a fucking alien horse

I don't have a problem with new Iron Man being a black woman but I fucking hate to the moon and back that she's 15. Fifteen is still practically a baby (cue all the crying teens bleating about how they're so growed up...)

Between black teen girl iron man and literal Nazi Steve, the race want is going to get glorious I'll bet.

I don't object to her being a young black woman, but 15 seems a tad too young. 18-20 seems more reasonable to me. A fifteen year old should be firmly in kid sidekick territory.

Sweet potatoes are way better than regular potatoes.

Old dogs are way cuter than puppies.

Most bugs are cute as are snakes.

The fourth generation of Pokemon is the best one.

"Sweet potatoes are way better than regular potatoes."

This is not controversial. This is sensible. And I say this as a potato.

Re: sweet potatos--this as long as they're salted instead of with extra sugar.

On old dogs v. puppies -- I've had both, I find both effing adorable. Same with old cats v. kittens.

Most bugs ARE INDEED CUTE. As are snakes.

...I'm inclined to agree on the last only because it gave me my favorite Pokemon of all.

There's a reason "cute as a bug" is an expression.

Except for giant water bugs. All the Belostomatidae can fuck right off.

men on one (depends on how they're cooked) and two (I love 'em both), AGREED on three, not so much four, but I guess I'm not alone in that. There are a few things I loved about Gen IV but was overall pretty underwhelmed with it compared with most other gens.

Honestly people who hang around fandom spaces just pick on one fan group and mock them for what they like, or harass and start shit about a certain fandom do not belong in fandom spaces.

And if there were a way to make it so they couldn't comment just be dicks, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

And if anyone comments just to argue their "right" to behave this way or whatever FREEZEPEACH bullshit they use, I'll point and laugh and then fucking ignore them.

Fandom spaces are for people to enjoy their interest not to be shit on for liking it.

Not really controversial, more that it's one people won't hear me out on because it sounds like I'm being anti-welfare. So let me say up front - I'm not against welfare. Or affordable healthcare. Or anything else. In fact, I'm for them.

However, I DO agree with the stance that communities and families should be stepping in to take care of each other more. They don't, and in many cases can't because everyone's hurting, which is why we need the government. But I see GoFundMe pages to raise money for funerals or much-needed operations for toddlers, and I think... where is the community? Why isn't anyone raising money? Why isn't anyone helping? Why do they need to rely on strangers? (Unless of course the page is just a way FOR the community to help.) And I think about this often. Why aren't more people offering to help the single mother who can't work? It goes on.

So yeah, I'm for government assistance, but truth be told I think fewer people would need it if more people took care of their own.

(Yes, I know GoFundMe isn't government related, I just mean in the grand scheme of things...)

I don't think "everyone is beautiful" is actually a good message. I know it's supposed to encouraging but it often enforces the idea that self-esteem is based on appearance.

I'm plain but it doesn't bother me because I'm proud of who I am. But apparently any non-positive remarks on your appearance is proof of low self-esteem.

How many times have you seen something like this:

A: I'm not pretty.
B: You're beautiful.
C: Don't put yourself down like that. You're perfect!

Probably more than once. It's happened in these forums. If it's the inside that counts, then what's with trying to assure everyone of their outside beauty?

Somewhat related, but I hate the "beauty is subjective; someone thinks
you're beautiful" arguments. I believe it but why are we suddenly basing our self-esteem on what others think? Also, that argument doesn't work precisely because beauty is subjective. Think about all the celebrities that make a negative remark on their looks and get mocked for it because they're obviously gorgeous.

Not sure how controversial this is, but it did get me called an ableist piece of shit once...

It doesn't matter how depressed you are: if you tell someone you'll kill yourself if they leave, it's emotional abuse. And if you're the recipient of that kind of threat, you aren't wrong to get the hell out.

If your kid is attacked/killed by an animal (I'm thinking the gorilla and alligator cases here) you are most likely a shitty, inattentive parent, and in general, there are a fuckton of people these days who should not be parents, but are.

Everywhere I've gone people are making excuses for shitty parents, and in my opinion, it's complete bullshit.

"Oh, but parenting is hard! You don't have kids, you don't understand! I only turned away for a second! Some kids are more rambunctious and it's easy to lose track of them!"

NO. I KNOW parenting is hard, and that's exactly why I don't have kids. When you have kids you CAN'T "turn away for a second". You just can't. NOTHING in your life is about you anymore. You have to devote 100% of yourself to your kids. If your kids are "more rambunctious" than others, there's a good chance it's because you haven't raised them properly, but either way, you account for that. You don't take them places where you know they could hurt themselves. Your kid has a tendency to run away from you? You don't take them to a zoo where they could fall into an animal enclosure, and if you do, you hold onto them the entire time you're next to that enclosure.

When you go grocery shopping, you don't let them run wild while you talk on your cellphone and ignore them. You pay attention to them, make sure they don't run into other shoppers or climb up display cases. You can gossip with your girlfriends later.

Yes, I know parenting is hard, but that's not an excuse for not doing it if you've already made the choice to have kids.

I enjoyed (FMA's) The Sacred Star of Milos. It wasn't great but it was a fun movie and enjoyable bit of nostalgia for those who missed Ed and Al's dynamic in the series.

Also it was more easily ignorable because of the fact that it's set during series.

Conquerors of Shambala was fun but it got a lot of heat for being the epilogue of the series and making such a big change.
