3) Ugh! Yeah, yeah, on an intellectual level I get why people enjoy the happy sex-slave trope. It's all the naughtiness with none of the moral responsibility. But for me it's a cheat. I want my abusive fucked up relationships to acknowledge that they are abusive, fucked up relationships, and if the abused comes to love it, I want it to be because they are fucked up in the head and this is the way they've learned to cope, not because it's somehow the default reaction.

5) LOL, I wanna be a best selling author, and I'll secretly revel in all the badfic I generate.

35) I don't know, bashing is really annoying even if you don't love the characters. It seriously sours me on a fic even if everything else is good. I was totally disappointed in one beautifully written Jack/Ten fic that just had to turn Ianto into a whiny, jealous rapist. WTF.

40) Actually... uh... they aren't that different in height (at least not outside of doujin. Ed starts off as being 4'11, but grows several inches (both in anime and manga) so let's make him 5'1 or so by the time he's 15. Meanwhile Mustang is a whopping 5'8". Yep. that's it.

5. Oh, I still have that dream, myself. I actually feel like my time in fandom has prepared me for dealing with having fandoms should my work ever *actually* get out there. What I mean is - I kind of know what to expect. I plan to mostly ignore fandom and/or laugh at how much people warp things and "just don't get it." If people write me letters/whine about how I didn't do what they wanted, I'll flatly tell them to get creative and write their own stories. I'm a Christian and I fully *expect* that if my work becomes popular, other Christians will call it devil work and question my faith (I write fantasy). I'll flatly tell them what's what, too - or I'll give them a cheeky smile and thank them for giving me publicity. As it is, I like to speculate on what fandom will do to my characters - what *kinds* of Mary Sues and improbable pairings will likely crop up. -- I think I'm actually having fun with "my fandoms" before I've even got them!

How I figure it - if you expect to get anywhere with creative work, you've got to try to develop a thick skin and learn to laugh at human stupidity.

53. You know, I must be one of the 2 people on the internet/in fandom who's never been to 4Chan and has no interest in going.

Am I the only one who would be A-OK with people performing Rule 34 on my characters? I don't understand what's supposed to be so horrifying about it.

16. I know a guy like that. Swears by whatever Cartoon Network shows. TRY SOMETHING ELSE ARRRGGG. I'm sorry that you have to deal with that at work, good luck!

(Anonymous) 2008-04-08 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
He's a hardcore Shounen Jump weeb. To the core. It's like you mention anything else to him and he's " what? " ... you say GOKU he's like HELL YEAH GOKU. AWESOMESAUCE. He also says random stuff in Japanese, you know that generic " Silence! I'll never forgive you! " crap.

Being part Japanese and being able to speak it -- it's like someone putting their nails against a chalk board.

annooooooooooying.

O HAY I HAVE A STUPID QUESTION

[identity profile] leelakin.livejournal.com 2008-04-08 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
What happened with the community ihearttvshows that made everyone hate the dude from Supernatural? I must've missed it. D:

Re: O HAY I HAVE A STUPID QUESTION

[identity profile] problematique.livejournal.com 2008-04-08 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
They did a really stupid April Fool's joke where they said they were limiting membership to 1000 members and you had to fill out some survey to get in and you had to read this one thing about how that dude from Supernatural was hot or whatever.

7. I love them so much, I think they might as well be one of my few anime OTPs, they're so cute, and in case you didn't notice IDAWTS. :P

9. Twilight, ROFL! It's so much crack, thanks for reminding me, I have to finish Eclipse before new semester starts.

16. Hueco Mundo sucks big greasy hairy balls, it turned me off of Bleach completely.

33. I'm pretty sure #33 is a repeat.

51. I must admit I don't enjoy an anime quite the same if the pairing I want doesn't happen, but I don't stop watching, because unless it's not good at all I can't not know how it ends.

PS: Mao is love.

56. *sigh* Orihime, ♥ pity Bleach isn't more about the girls.

Re: 7, 9, 16, 33 (repeat), 51, 56

The Bound arc made me hate the anime with passion. I don't understand how anyone could have watched through that shit animation fest.

Hueco Mundo was interesting for the first ten chapters and then it was getting ridiculous. It's dragging on -- how long does it take to save some chick? Meh, and all the baddies are flat and boring.

Cha-ching the register rings for Kubo Tite though.

[identity profile] rumminov.livejournal.com 2008-04-08 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
AGREED, Mayuri is awesome and pretty much the only person in Bleach that I care about anymore. I also cannot agree more with the helmet thing, I'm always disappointed when fanartists/whoever draw him without it

I smile every time I see someone break rule 1 and 2 in defense of /b/. I'm not a /b/tard, but I'm pretty familiar with 711chan. I don't need to live by their rules.

(The only rule I care about is 34).

47. Anyone who thinks they're a 'better' fan for a stupid reason like that isn't worth listening to. I didn't even hear about Final Fantasy until two years ago, but that doesn't mean I love it any less than an 'old fan'. Not to mention, I was 7 years old when FFVII came out, so if I let them hold that against me, I would a very unhappy person. Don't let those assholes bother you.

Oh, and Dirge of Cerberus might be fanservice, but I still like it. Why is that impossible for people to understand?

48. HAH. I wish my host-dad had been like that. He was a bit more reserved.

Honest opinion?

The gameplay was even worse than the plot.

03) Despite the badfic cliche plot, I want to read this.

17) This secret is awesome.

36) I believe the correct interweb-slang is "SAUCE PLZ"?

19 - But fat cosplayers are still better than sucky cosplayers. =p

45 - Concerning the secret portion--then the game did exactly what it was supposed to do. Aerith herself says that she and Zack were never serious several times in the original game, so yes, it was puppy love. This has also been confirmed by Nojima--as for her 'maiden' status--well, her novella is titled, "Maiden who Travels the Planet"...

I wouldn't be too mad about her characterization--she had to start somewhere in order to become as awesome as she is in FFVII. I would have preferred to have a portion of the game explain how she learned to fight with a staff and how she came by it, but oh well...

56 - I understand your pain. Orihime isn't the strongest in my opinion, but she certainly isn't the weakest either. I do not understand all the hatred for her unless it's just spiteful Ichigo/Rukia shippers who just hate her for being in the way. Personally, I'm surprised Orihime even has that much development in a shounen manga. It's not like any of the other cast members are perfect pillars of strength, so I don't get why Orihime gets all the flack.

Re: 19, 45, 56

[identity profile] paperclipchains.livejournal.com 2008-04-09 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
I figure she just picked up the staff and practiced smacking people with it over in Wall Street. Not because it's plausible, but because it's a fun idea.
