If this issue is so emotionally excruciating that it currently causes OP to avoid anything they associate with childbirth, it's probably not a good idea to wait for it to start impinging on other aspects of their life, you know? Like, for example, when people around them start having babies irl.

(Anonymous) 2016-09-05 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)Like I said: presumptuous.

What I don't tend to presume is that they have tried things not traditionally considered romance, but that still falls under the umbrella of m/f. I'm going off exactly what the secret says here.

Summarized: people often find writing useful for working through personal problems. OP may or may not wish to do this.

I also have never had skin cancer and can still tell you that many people find chemotherapy useful.

It's literally my first comment. Many people find reading and writing fiction helps with deep personal issues.
It's not a directive or a value judgment, it's a statement of fact.

The answer is still: I'm not giving out my job title on f!s. Never. No matter how indignant you are.

It's ok to not want to share personal information like what your job title is, but then you don't get to be adamant about being qualified to give advice on this or that. You can't have it both ways.
I take it from your above response that you're not actually a practicing psychologist (i.e. licensed therapist, counselor, or psychiatrist). So when you say "technically yes" do you mean you have a BS in psychology or something?

I could practice tomorrow if I decided to. I do NOT want to.
But that's totally beside the point since I didn't tell OP they should absolutely go start reading fiction. What I did say was that it is an avenue a lot of people use, that they might also find useful if they were to consider the breadth of available material.
Yep. What a terrible comment.
(frozen comment) no subject
That sounds pretty definitive to me. It sounds like you are casting a lot of judgment without really knowing the situation at all.
I'd be really pissed if I were in OP's shoes and some stranger made a comment like that to me - doubly so if it were a dude.
So do you have some kind of license?

Come on dude, no you couldn't. Registered psychologists require a doctoral degree and supervised practica in BC and assistants require a master's (http://www.collegeofpsychologists.bc.ca/rrp.php#registration). You're years away from being able to. I'm not giving away your job details or anything but that's just a straight up lie.
Not even that you're necessarily wrong or your advice is bad, but faking credentials is wack.
