I think on a big enough scale I wish that we didn't have to choose between those things, and that there was both representation and fandom for everything.

That said, I personally would like it if there were more shows that had women inhabiting the variety of roles that men handle in fiction, not just because of representation but also because I would enjoy shipping it. It's frustrating to think about how common it is to have shows with, you know, five or six male characters with different personalities and roles that you can ship, and how much rarer that is for female characters. And I would personally prefer that to Steven Universe, because I don't like Steven Universe.

I don't understand the envy in this context. If you want to watch the show watch the show...? Or do you mean you wish there was a similar show but with gay male representation?

Huh? Don't torture yourself trying to be non-judgmental. Judge her and enjoy it. Judging celebrities is one of life's little pleasures.

What I find hilarious is the kind of people who argue that XYZ is slut shaming aren't even sluts, in fact, they're probably virgins. Real sluts don't care. Just like Miley Cyrus who's laughs while you judge.

I'm not saying you should post mean things on her Instagram account, that's bullying, but FFS you're allowed to have an opinion.

Come down off your high horse. There are people in the world that genuinely deserve to die. It is fine to wish them dead.

Also, like someone else said, she's going to die eventually regardless. It would just be funny if it was something preventable by vaccine.

I think the only time it might not be inherently awful is wishing someone who is currently murdering people/torturing/whatever were dead so it would save lives. It isn't about that person, it is about the lives saved. But even then it makes me uncomfortable. I just think it is pretty shitty to wish a real human being were dead. They are a person. They may have done awful things, and it is okay to hate them. But wishing them dead? I personally don't think that is okay.

It swerves deep into Randian politics, and also into really bad writing.

And the first three aren't, like, good. They're mediocre and rather formulaic, with some striking ideas and characters.

You should have seen the glory days of the Queer as Folk fandom...

Yeah, they mean slash in the specific sense of m/m and not f/f.

I'm not familiar with Judge Rinder, but now you have me curious to check him out :D.

I like court shows, too. They're weirdly addictive :p.

Awww.

(Anonymous) 2016-09-14 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I just disagree with that in the strongest possible sense.

Everyone has to die of something. Since she has contributed to the resurrection of curable disease in the Western World (in the developing world we can thank our good buddies at the CIA for that) I'm fine with her dying of one of those diseases as an example to everyone who might have been hoodwinked by her vacuousness to go and get vaccinated ASAP. In death, if her death was like that and not by (random example) bird strike, she might finally save more lives than she has put at risk. One might even say that the good of the many outweighs the good of the one.

I disagree. there are people who deserve to die, but I don't think it is okay to wish any human being dead (except if you are thinking about the lives it might save rather than just thinking that person deserves to die). And I don't personally think that is funny at all. Death isn't funny.

Okay, that's fine. That's just my personal opinion.

Fuck outta here

(Anonymous) 2016-09-14 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, fair enough, absolutely.

I just don't think it is okay to wish another human being dead. That's my personal view.

I guess that at some point it just becomes something entirely different though. And that's okay. But you can't in all honestly say it's really a film adaptation of the book, more like a film inspired by the book.

randian politics/bad writing same-same

I won't be impressed until they have a human woman who's confirmed to love another human woman. Human women loving monogendered aliens who coincidentally look like human women has been a thing for a long time. (Looking at you, Mass Effect.)

And yes, I know about that tweet about how Mr. Smiley and Mr. Frowny used to be in love, but the show itself never quite stated it.

He's the British version of judge shows. He's pretty awesome. There are a lot of clips on youtube, but I haven't found anywhere to get whole episodes yet.

(Anonymous) 2016-09-14 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Wishing doesn't actually hurt anyone. Have you never had thought, "Man. I wish this asshole in front of me would trip." Or, "That dude who keeps aggressively hitting on women needs to fall down a sewer drain."

(Anonymous) 2016-09-14 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think it is quite the same. And equating the two leaves the door open for people to say they're actually wonderful books and we're just too PC or something. They would be bad even if I agrees with the ideology.
