I'm not fucking coming on anyone.

Thank god school districts are starting to lay the smackdown on it and not allowing children admittance without proof of vaccination. That's all that needed to happen. Sure, you can not vaccinate your kids if big words scare you, but keep them the absolute fuck away from every other kid.

There's some truth to that, but at the same time, there's a point where you're talking about willful ignorance and not a lack of education, and I think McCarthy passed that point long ago.

If you're determined to be offended, I guess? It's like people who hear a conversation across the room and just assume it's about them.

Weird Things You Enjoy in Media

what are some details in tv shows or movies that most people probably either don't pay attention to, dislike, or don't care about that you enjoy?

This, very much. Really, any long chunk of first-person narration, especially if it's in someone's head, doesn't translate to the third-person narrative form of film too easily, especially as long voiceovers are not really the done thing anymore.

Other unfilmable aspects, of course, generally involve the ratings board (there are scenes in the novel of American Psycho that were never ever no way no how going to get filmed).

Well, no, that's a terrible analogy. You were literally replying to Philstar.

Are you for real?

You're dangerous.

Honestly the core that unsettles me about the autism/vaccine debate is that you're basically saying "I'd rather risk my kid dying of a preventable disease than risk my kid having autism".

I mean, not that it even has any basis in reality, but it's basically the mentality.

Dang it, I can't get over how her "sexy" tongue thing reminds me of the pony I had as a child (no, really-- envy me if you like) and how when you bridled him he'd spend the first couple of minutes trying to spit the bit from his mouth.

Blood Meridian...?

If so please marry me anon. If you really wanted to film it, you could. It would just take a very, very bold director.

Miley is not the person to hate in that pic. And even if you dislike her actions you got to admit she knows how to create publicity.

Characters' handwriting/how they decorate their spaces.

THE HELL YOU SAY.

No one's better than Judy. Pfft.

(Anonymous) 2016-09-14 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
But McCarthy is literally the one spreading those lies. Like, she is the one taking advantage of ignorant (often poor) individuals.

I think SOME people pay attention to it, but I'm a sucker for good character writing, and I can squee about those little things writers get "right" about characterization. Not even huge plot things, just things that are pleasing.

But does she herself believe it, I wonder?

That makes sense, really. If they were all the same, we'd have no need of so many different mediums...

I'm definitely the person who pauses and tries to read the text in newspapers or books or whatever on shows. If I'm watching alone. I love it when they sneak easter eggs in there.

(Anonymous) 2016-09-14 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Either way, you sound like my granny.

(Anonymous) 2016-09-14 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Surely she would be far more evil if she didn't believe it?

Dude...I'm super critical about doctors and medicine (especially in terms of mental health), but go ask your grandparents what it was like to have the threat of polio or dying of measels. Vaccines are a good thing.
ketita: (Default)

[personal profile] ketita 2016-09-14 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean, there isn't actually another side in this case. It's been completely proven that vaccines work and have lowered drastically the number of people dead from those diseases. I'm not sure what the flip side to "all these not-dead people" is, or why people are supposed to be skeptical.

Yeah we are finally getting back to where we were in the late 90s and early 00s of no longer tolerating arrant stupidity again. Hopefully we'll move to smacking down religions again. Tolerating their right to be intolerant is moving fast out of fashion again. Heh, there was a good example of the latter on the SJW publisher Tor site last week. They put up a typical tolerate the intolerable piece of bullshit about even religion had a place in Star Trek and their usually woolly minded fluffy bunny comments section smacked it down hard. That took them by surprise that did. Like vaxxers, religion has no place in a progressive society.

I just don't get why everyone wants their slashy ships to be canon so much. I don't want any ships to be canon. Fuck canon ships.

I'm queer, by the way.
