+1, anon.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-13 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Probably because 90% of the time whenever there is a terrorist attack it is committed by Muslims.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-13 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Over what time frame, and where

(Anonymous) 2016-10-13 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Aren't most public shootings committed by whiny white dudes tho lol.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-13 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm referring to incidents such as bombings or attacks carried out for ideological reasons.

Take a look over the past decade.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-13 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
It's certainly not exclusive to Muslims - see the Oklahoma City bombing or the attempted bombing of the Atlanta Olympics. Off the top of my head.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-13 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Not exclusive just the majority.

Thank you!

(Anonymous) 2016-10-14 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, because in Ireland during the height of their 'troubles', the terrorists, on both sides, were Muslims.
Because every single shooting rampage in the USA- which I would fit into the category of 'terrorist attack' (isn't the point of a 'terrorist attack' to cause terror?) is not a white guy but a Muslim.
Because the USA, going into Southern America and bombing countries, violently ousting democratically elected leaders etc (which I would say fits the definition of 'terror attack'.) that's somehow to do with Muslims.
Did you know that in WW2 America firebombed Japan? Robert Mcnamara has admitted to his guilt over the thousands of people who died, not soldiers, civilians. I would argue, even though it was during war, that was a terrorist attack (just as the Japanese bombing Pearl Harbour was a terrorist attack).
Hey, neither of these were 'Muslims'.
Because Timothy Mcveigh was Muslim.
Because the scientist, who killed people using anthrax, after September 11, was so clearly Muslim.
The list goes on...

(Anonymous) 2016-10-14 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
The list goes on but I could double that list with just what ISIS has been doing over the past couple of years.

And you are aware the deadliest shooting rampage in the US was a Muslim who pledged allegiance to ISIS right?

Not to take away from what you're saying, but I do agree with you, but terrorism is actually defined as using violence and intimidation for political reasons. So basically while, for example, the Columbine shooters and the Oklahoma City bomber both committed acts of terror, only the Oklahoma City bomber did it for political reasons, thus only he would be considered a terrorist.

Sorry again not to derail or anything (because as I said I agree with you), just was more replying to your "isn't the point of a terrorist act to cause terror?".

(Anonymous) 2016-10-17 11:32 am (UTC)(link)
Yep, just like the Murrah Building in OKC.

Oh, wait.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-13 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
What show is this?

(Anonymous) 2016-10-13 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Designated Survivor.

Designated Survivor. It has been pretty good so far, IMHO.

Is that the one where there was actually some kind of horrible violent incident and the designated survivor became president? It's hard to imagine the aftermath of something like that tbh

sounds interesting

Yeah, it's really horrifying the way government and intelligence agencies draw conclusions based on established patterns. I'm losing sleep over it, I tell ya.

You should probably be drawing your conclusions based on evidence, not "established patterns".

Theories, sure, but not conclusions.

What I like about the show is how constantly shitty and difficult Kirkman's job is, with people immediately playing politics while the rubble still smolders and so on.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-14 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
I guess it's just me that's disappointed the show tries to be realistic instead of getting weird with the concept.

Neat idea, just think it would have been better if the designated survivor had been someone the American people would have never voted into office. Then you can have some real fun.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-14 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe, but I can see why they didn't go too far in that direction. The lead needs to be someone who can seem presidential. If he was someone people hated from the vet to our some rube from Gooferville, it would be too hard to have him become THE President. At least to hard for a serious drama.

That said, I think the show has some sci-fi undercurrents that can be explored. It's an intriguing show.
