I followed your advice when I met with my Trump-supporter therapist - I stayed quiet and non-confrontational for most of the meeting. He confronted me directly at the end of the meeting, and said I was acting like a child.

I also tried talking to my parents about the situation, and they haven't budged. They think that my therapist will force me to grow up and mature emotionally and that his methods are what I need at this point in my life. It's not helping me at all - it's putting me on edge and makes me dread therapy, and I don't see how it helps me mature.

My new goal is to get a job soon and save up money so I can move out of the house.

To start off, I'm feeling super hyped for Pokemon Sun and Moon on Friday - especially since the early reviews are very good. I hope you can catch Ultra Beasts, since they'll probably be a lot of fun in Pokemon Refresh.

What's the most simple thing you've ever had to explain to a fully competent adult?

How have you had your mind blown lately?

So that secret maker who made the secret about the person blatantly self-kudoing a while back blew my mind because it never occurred to me that people would actually bother to do that. Yet now there are a few fics and their stats that make so much more sense to me now.

There's one that is just semi-literate garbage that has the highest kudo-to-hits-ratio in the entire fandom - like, more than mind-meltingly hot porn and sob-inducing angst that has been shared on tumblr and twitter to hell and back, and I'd always wondered what the fuck so I clicked on it and sure enough, 99% of those kudos were from "guests".

Mind. Blown. (I get you anon, now. I get you. It is super shitty that that fic is one of the first people come across when they search by kudos. If someone hasn't had that particular revelation it makes the whole fandom look like a gaggle of morons with horrible taste.)

What belated realizations have you all come to lately?

My cousin is getting married, and I have a weird phobia.

Long story short, I can't stand looking at flowers, real or pictured. They're extremely repulsive to me to the point where it's basically a phobia even though it's not exactly "fear" that I feel. I've had this phobia for 20 years so it's not going away by next spring without a lobotomy. I'm going to be doing a lot of mental preparing for this event, hopefully with my parents' help, but I want to know if anyone here has any tips for blocking out my peripheral vision without being obvious about it (I can look at something "safe" all I want but I expect the whole thing to be a minefield of flowers that will catch the corner of my eye solely because I don't want them to.) I'm sure mentally relaxing will help a lot, but I can't relax until I can relax...well, you know what I mean, it's hard to get the calmness wheel running. Maybe some of you have weird visual-based phobias and advice to share in that regard, so I thought I may as well ask.

I've seen like...three movies and read a shitload of fanfic, and it's made me want to catch up on the canon. Assuming I watch all the movies, what else would you consider "mandatory" to watch/read so I don't come off as ignorant if I discuss it with people -- or especially if I try to write fanfic? I know there's a lot of material and I don't know if all of it is necessary to understand the settings and characters I'm working with.

After a rather interesting discussion with friends. Say you found a very interesting story with decent writing that you enjoyed. If you were to find out that the author wrote it initially as wish fufillment or some thing personal like that, or to fulfill some personal feeling or need. Would it change your opinion of the story? Would that make you like it less if you liked it to begin with?
