Fuck yeah. I loved Rose when she first showed up, then Nine left and Ten came and yeah Ten was cool at first but Rose seemed to change and I was glad when she was gone, and then Ten got worse and worse and I was glad to see him go to.

I was especially annoyed to see Rose show up with a BFG when the Doctor has always been very anti-gun and he didn't even say anything!

They felt like mounting toxicity to me, especially together.

I had to read that sentence twice to realize that BFG was 'big f***ing gun' and not 'Big Friendly Giant.'

That's the ugliest doctor I have ever seen.

(Anonymous) 2017-01-06 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
You find him uglier than Two?

(Eccles is a bit goofy, but he had fucking PRESENCE.)

Nine is the only version of the Doctor I'm attracted to. Funny how that works, isn't it?

(Anonymous) 2017-01-06 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe it's that Nine and Ten were so different?

(I liked her with Nine as well, and while I liked Ten well enough, I didn't feel that r/10 had the shame chemistry as r/9 did.)

Rose was my least favorite companion (and my sister's). She was so annoying about how much she looovvveeddddd The Doctor.

(Anonymous) 2017-01-06 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
And god forbid anyone else get close to the Doctor after that...

(Anonymous) 2017-01-06 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
I can't say that I was ever a Rose fan, but she was a million times more annoying with Ten than with Nine. I liked Rose and Nine traveling together, despite not liking Rose independently. But Rose and Ten made my skin crawl.

(Anonymous) 2017-01-06 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Agree with you on both fronts. Rose is one of my least favourite companions (I go Donna > Martha > Clara > Rose > Amy), and found the whole Rose/Ten "twoo wuv" set my teeth on edhe.

I couldn't stand her and Ten in Tooth and Claw when they didn't seem to be taking the situation seriously. Especially Rose when she seemed to care more about getting Queen Victoria to say she wasn't amused than about people dying.

Rose and Nine brought out the best in each other. Rose and Ten brought out the worst.

I liked her with both, but the dynamics are very different, so I can see why you'd like one and not the other.

(Anonymous) 2017-01-06 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
This is exactly how I felt. I was never crazy about Rose, mainly because the way she treated her mother and Mickey always made me feel uncomfortable. But she had great chemistry with Nine so I still enjoyed their dynamic. But with Ten, it just felt so...forced and she just became more and more whiny.

Which is weird because I LOVE all of the other new!Who companions (Yes even Clara. Fight Me!) and at least tolerate all other doctor/companion ships (although I really only ship Ten/Donna and Twelve/Clara). But Ten/Rose just aggravates me and I'm still not entirely sure why.

I liked her with both 9 and 10 but the dynamics were different so I can get not liking the shift when you preferred the other.

(Anonymous) 2017-01-06 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
I have a theory that Rose couldn't cope with the whole "Absorbed the Time Vortex, became briefly omnipotent and committed genocide" thing and spent the whole time she was with Ten on the verge of a mental breakdown, trying to convince herself that it was all worth it to be a Companion because she didn't see any way that she could go back to her old life after everything she'd done.

It doesn't make her less annoying, but it makes me dislike her less.

Yeah. The first time I watched through the reigns of Nine & Ten I liked Rose & the dynamics of both sets. I rewatched & started disliking Rose. She started really annoying me, especially how she (& Ten) treated people. I wasn't a fan of Mickey, but did he really deserve the names & the casual dismissals? No. He did not.

Donna & Ten though. They were fantastic. I just wish we had Donna & Nine. Imagine the sass levels.

A statement that is specific to Doctor Who:

Rose was definitely better with 9. With 10 the two got really codependent and unhealthy and it started to get obnoxious.

My favorite episode of series 2 is when Sarah Jane shows up, not only because Sarah Jane is great but because then Rose is confronted with the fact that the Doctor has had other companions he cared for and he still left them behind.

But then even knowing this she still tried to ditch her entire family just to stay with him, I hattteee when companions get like that. I much prefer companions who know they eventually have to leave and are ready to lead their own life (this is why I loved Martha's ending/respected her so much for walking away.)

(Anonymous) 2017-01-06 02:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I will never forgive Rose for telling someone they should put up with an abusive relationship if the other person loves them. Never. Maybe if the show had done something, anything to acknowledge how messed up her advice was because she had Major Issues relating to personal relationships, but no.

I still loved Rose but I also thought their relationship was written differently after that change, and I also ship her with Nine but not Ten.

Agreed. For me it was because her character became about being in love with the Doctor and the Doctor being in love with her (to the detriment of all previous companions). Maybe that would have happened if Chris had stayed, but as he didn't, we can't know.
