I know this is the response that you were wankbaiting for, but the Internet is free for Christians to use as well. Your attitude towards other human beings sickens me.

Really?

That makes my soul hurt.

Nope. No one did.

I can see your icon going "oro" over and over because of that.

11. I'd have kept reading if Shoujo Beat didn't do the weird and start alternating stories (for money) and printing them in retarded colors. >/
46. In the North American Jump I remember Sandland, and I don't think... anyone even remembers it anymore. DX

[identity profile] blackjedii.livejournal.com 2008-05-13 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
That was the short-ish desert one that was by umm... Akira Toriyama, right?

I remember that. Should actually have those volumes upstairs in my wardrobe, if it makes you feel any better. ;)

N!S 1: bb, go through my fiction archives and let's see how hate-mongering you think I am ;D Protip: it's the vocal and extremist minority that makes the news. It's like saying all feminists hate men.

1. Mm, Rikku. Not gonna lie, I like Lulu and Paine better, but. Still. Damn.

14. Okay. I'm not going to get all riled up and say, OHES NOEZ YOU JUST HATE BELLA BECAUSE SHE HAS OVARIES because I know that's bullshit. People hate characters for all kinds of reasons. But, really? Saying you lose respect for people for liking a fictional character? Way to fail. She was hot, snarky, funny, and my kind of character. And if you don't respect me, well, you suck. 8D

36. Don't ship it, but, damn, I can totally see a resemblance, so I can buy the long-lost Air Nation theory. Also, lol, Ty Lee boobs. Hot.

46. I've read or watched all those series. DBZ was a major part of my childhood, YYH was my favorite series for a long time, and I'm still trying to catch up on Jojo. Gotta respect the oldies. But...I still like some of the new series more. Personal taste.

62. Wahwahwah all I hear is "I'm a whiny troll bitch." Try harder. Or, you know, GTFO.

67. I prefer Katara/Toph, but THAT WOULD BE ALMOST AS GOOD. A++

28. lol, late secret is late. :-)

31. Of course it wasn't your fault, but you're right to share that story as a warning to others. I'm trying to remember the exact wording of that line from Press Gang: "Be careful what you say to someone. It may be the last thing they ever hear."

43. eighteen year old lol

69. Sigh, me too. H/W is my OTP, House is my favorite show, and I'm not even involved in the fandom. It's so huge, and oh-so-wanky. Although now you made me want to go make fanart. Maybe I'll do that....

70. Haha, agree with you about Heroes S2. Geezis. As for the rest, I feel the same way sometimes. Are you an optimist, by any chance? I think at least in my case, I'm just psyched to *see* one of my tv programs, the negative stuff just flies right over my head at times. (Heroes S2 and the last episode of Doctor Who were... exceptions to this). :/

73. Shirley Temple does freak me out. Not a secret. xD But that's cute.

Wowwww. I don't think you realize how much of the world is Christian, or at least has some form of Christian belief. We're in the minority, dude. If the Christians all left fandom, we'd be a sad and sorry bunch.

Oh, and while I don't believe in God, I do believe that everyone has the right to believe whatever the hell they wish. Lucky for you, that includes bigots.

70. Or if you agree with them and then the next time there's a fandom explosion people want the exact opposite. I've seen people go off about the lack of interracial relationships on TV and then get pissed off because they happen. You can't win.

While the situation is different, I can definitely relate in the 'fandom helping through dark times and in shaping the person that you are today' department. The last paragraph especially.

It's nice knowing that I'm not the only one that's been helped, and I wish you luck on your journey. =]

12: You find some people who like what you do and you talk about the stuff you like with them. That's fandom. It need not involve fanfic, RPGs, or any such things. Just you and your buddies discussing what you like that brought you together.

11. *raises hand* I effing love this series! I would so participate in fandom for this. =D I need to catch up, but some day I'd love to write fic or draw for it. Or read fic for it...

15. umm.... no... it's not as funny or cute if it was. And I don't think a very femme gay boy would react the same as Ebichu did. Mostly, probably, but not in everything.

21. HOLY FRAKK. is this a SAVAGE GARDEN SECRET?!?!?! *fangirls* LOL... Savage Garden fiction was the first (and tech only) RPF I ever looked for and read and enjoyed. Oh man were those the days. XD

30. Not me... Only cause I'm so disappointed with the anime that it would be a travesty if they did that to our MeruPuri.

71. And this is a fandom secret... why? The bromides came out so long ago. Besides, we don't know when she changes her outfit. She could have married and gone into power with that outfit and then finally gave herself a new one. At any rate, the bromides were made to sell and make money, at the time, they didn't care about the complete factualness. And as it was made for a Japanese audience, most customers wouldn't know what the heck it said, just that it has pretty English on it.

[identity profile] abyss-of-colors.livejournal.com 2008-05-13 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
11. hmm...I should give that one a chance. Hey any fans out there, is it anything like Saiunkoku Monogatari (meaning with the intrigue and the history and being effing sweet!?)

12. How to be an Avatar fan.

Step 1: You get a favorite/preferred character.
Step 2: You put that character with another character.
Step 3: You enlist for the FUCKING PAIRING WARS, MAN...and that's the way you do it!

Sike. I just talk about it with my rl and online friends. 'Cept I don't really care about any of the big ships and stick to smaller ones. That's really it. Really, it depends on what you're looking for in the fandom. I go for the fanarts but stay away from the fanfics.

29. Eh. I felt some remorse but...eh. He died for what he believed in and that's what matters.

36. DUDE. YES. But they look so much like right now that it freaks me out at the same time.

44. HAH! I had a crush on him ever since Hook!

53. Though I don't know what it feels like to influence people, I do understand how it feels to be left behind when it comes to art. But 'never be that good'? The best thing about being an artist is that we're always changing and growing. I mean, I'm feeling down right crumby about my style right now but I know that if I keep going at it I'll get to a point where it doesn't matter if the person sitting next to me is better; I'd be satisfied with myself. ...And then I'd get into another moody period. The cycle goes on and on.
Whoa! Sorry for the rambling! Just, don't feel too bad about feeling that way. It's understandable why you would. Don't linger on it and you should be fine.

54. I don't know who this is but we (generally) reeeeally need to do something about the definition for femininity, like giving it a wider range.

55. FTFW!

62. Reborn doesn't capture my interest but still...everyone really is picking on Reborn, aren't they?

66/67. YESSSSSS

70. It's okay. Though I do see -ist side of the majority of even my favorite shows, I don't always. When I don't, sometimes the canon of the show seems so removed from reality that I forget that they're there. But they are. They are created by rl people after all. Some issue just come forward a lot more than others.

71. THAT PISSES ME OFF TOO. I saw one once when I was 12 and was like DOIN' IT WRONG, THIS IS HOW.

72. I withstood Potemayo and enjoyed every minute of it. Bring. It. On.

(Anonymous) 2008-05-13 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
11. I'm a big fan of both Saiunkoku and Kaze Hikaru, so I can speak for this! :O

I really think that you should check it out! By all means. Though, in my opinion, I think it takes a few volumes to really get into it. The first volume didn't catch me right away, to be honest, but I'm so glad I went through with reading the rest.

Let me see.. Well, I think you can definitely compare the two. The history aspect is clear in both, both keep you wanting more, and the characters in each of the series have something similar about them that you just can't help but love. I also know that quite a few people at [livejournal.com profile] kazehikarufans are also fans of Saiunkoku!

Hopefully this helps some~

68) The only problem is that genre savvy characters have a very high mortality rate in horror movies (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DeathByGenreSavviness).

72) Yes, more cavity-inducing cuteness for me, please! (Not being sarcastic at all)

Also, is "moe" so expansive that it covers both warn-the-diabetics cuteness and characters like Mikuru from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya? Because I like the former but don't really care for the latter.

[identity profile] purple-kama.livejournal.com 2008-05-13 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
72. For all I know, "moe" generally indicates the turn-on/charm factor that's more on the cute side. So fearsome cuteness too, yes.

But I totally don't blame you for feeling the way you do. I would worry more if you weren't remorseful about it. Maybe you could visit his grave and say you're sorry? Maybe I'd help, just throwing out ideas. If you ever need support or anything just message me, I totally don't mind.

Sort of unrelated, but if you're talking about ppg yuri, then I'm interested as to what you ship and the com link. C:

Not related, but I agree with you about the Aspergers thing. I'm Autistic and I HATE IT when some people who are in the high functioning Autism spectrum act like fucktards on the internet and IRL because they don't even bother to change how they act to other people. Dammit I don't care if your Autistic, if you act like an asshole YOU JUST MIGHT DESERVE THE HATE THATS THROWN AT YOU. YOU ARE NOT SPECHIAL AND SUPAR INTELLAMENGENT BECAUSE OF YOUR AUTISM, GROW UP AND GTFO.
