158. They all have a basic idea in common - the mecha/puberty thing you mentioned - but the resulting stories are all wildly different. That's kind of the point. Seriously, Evangelion and FlCl were made in succession. I can understand missing the Evangelion and Gurren Lagann connection, although the intentional parallels should be obvious if you've seen both. But... c'mon. Evangelion and FlCl are not anywhere near being an example of plot recycling. That should be readily apparent.

And to be fair, there's plenty of fans with bad spelling/grammar who don't like het, either. Perhaps you're just not looking hard enough?
