129: I still get the theme music stuck in my head sometimes. It just sounds like Danny Elfman.

140: Bill Nye did the same thing for me. I think my life would have been drastically different if PBS weren't around.

107 Just say, "I'll probably watch X and be fangirly about that!" If you don't get embarrassed about even good natured teasing, it isn't as much fun for the teaser. And besides, it's true!

125 A LOT of Remus-fans agree with you. Don't presume that portion of the fandom who are all-or-nothing about HP, or think that JKR is god, are the entire fandom. Plenty of us who really loved the books really hated the way it all ended, for a lot of reasons.

133 Oh music snobs. I just hope you have more reason for being into that band than rubbing her nose in it!

134 It's not a total thing, more like a percentage average; there's a higher proportion of badfic in het than slash. And it used to be because there were more really young kids writing fic and not taking it all that seriously in het fandom. But believe me, they've started to make their way into slash, so I bet femslash/yuri will be the only place to get away from annoying fangirls and their bad porn.

153 I so cannot take him seriously since Joel started doing such a good take on him on The Soup.

167 You make me feel better just about my own single-fandom AU!

169 Wow, talk about your rare fandoms. But a friend of mine was watching Hello Dolly and slashing that, and French sailors have to be gayer than anything in 1890s Yonkers. That's what Yuletide is for, man!

125 OP

There's been a lot of drama and extremists on both sides, which is kind of the problem...? I don't want people to jump to the conclusion that I'm a crazy 'nothing' fan. I guess I'm worrying too much about what hypothetical people think of me but... there's been a lot of wank expended already, I don't wanna get caught up in more.

170. Any reason to stick around is a good enough reason. (When I was going through a bad patch at the beginning of the year, I kept reminding myself, "Come on, you want to see the Torchwood finale, don't you?")

If you haven't talked to a doctor about how you feel, go do that now. You don't have to feel that way.

It's a one-shot RPS fic, not an epic fantasy, where David is actually a side-note.

But this article linked in an early comment provides some backing to that particular part of it.

Lulz at Days of Our Lives Secret. I used to watch it when I was in HS I am ashamed to admit, I was in love with Hope/Bo. I put up with it until they got together and married again and then I vowed to never watch it again. I am sure they are broken apart by now but ignorance is bliss.

Because of real soap operas I now hate soap opera tactics in my other fandoms. :)

It's pathetic but those stunts seem to be working well as publicity, that's why they continue. Instead of waiting for their fake suicide on f_w, I'd wait for the day people start making those lies come true, one by one. Ceiling cat will be waiting too. 132: I don't know if it's normal, but I do it too. Worse, it affects my writing style. I learned the hard way I can't ever read Dickens if I'm planning to write anything in the following 24 hours.

147: See icon. I don't have any BSG yet.

161: I don't get it either. By and large, I don't think the rest of the fandom really minds that the Paire people are so insular. First one that asks the actors a 'cesty question at Comic-Con, though, is going DOWN.

163. YOU CAN DO IT. Please do, so I know that I can do it too. ;_; Even though I would never choose to give Yuugiou up.

person thinks pairings are religion.: You frighten me. Greatly. You also make me ashamed of being a Kuro/Fai/Kuro and Kuro/Tomoya fan.

NEITHER ARE CANON BTW, LEAST OF ALL KURO/FAI. STICK THAT IN YOUR PIPE AND SMOKE IT, BECAUSE WHAT YOU ARE USING NOW IS SERIOUSLY DISTORTING YOUR ABILITY TO THINK LIKE A SANE HUMAN BEING. Oh, and if I actually wanted one of the two to be canon... I'd choose Kuro/Tomoya.

125. I-It's comforting to know that I'm not a horrible freak for really, really hating the way JKR mangled certain things in the last two books - I feel you, OP, I feel you.

142. Why don't you try your hand at RPing her? I know CFUD needs some Twilight chars liek whoa b-because if we got a Bella, I'd never be able to stop myself from apping into it.

125 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-06-10 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
A lot of people -- most, in fact -- agree that JKR did the last book (at the least) wrong. And while I definitely agree in general I've seen some people take it to pretty crazy lengths. Like uh... deciding that Hermione was destined to grow up to be the next Voldemort because Crookshanks disappeared after the third book, and we all know that Crookshanks was the most reliable of judges of character, so the fact that he ran away obviously means he realized she was a secret psychopath! Yeah. I don't wanna be one of "those fans." :\

[101] -- He's such a thoughtful character, someone you can truly respect!

[103] -- AUUUUGH, have I known people just like that. Emotional VAMPIRES. That desperate need for chaos is something young people do to get attention. If people are going "OMG POOR UUU!" then they feel loved and cared for. I'm not sure alot of the kids who pull that stuff are even AWARE they're doing it, but that doesn't excuse their behavior. I can't tell you how much better my life has been since I said to them "You and your drama are no longer interesting to me". I cut a couple people out of my life which seemed DRASTIC at the time, but has been nothing short of an emotional godsend. I hope you find a way to get rid of your leech, she sounds like a classic pain in the ass.

[119] -- HA! You rock. We have the same brain. X__X

[120] -- I have been obsessed with Vlad for my entire fucking life. Ever since I found out he was a REAL PERSON waaaaay back in grade school. I must have read a dozen books and seen one hundred documentaries. I hope that one day I can travel to see Castle Bran before I die. That would be amazing.

[128] -- You're better off with a wig. Unless you were planning to dye your hair, in which case, rock on. But it's one or the other -- nothing is more boring than un-colored cosplay hair!

[133] -- Music snobs are the worst.

[141] -- LOL... I am torn between wanting to make a snarky comment, and agreeing with you. Ah hell, I'll look like a perv. I am fine with this secret. XD

[142] -- I'm a fan of the books, but HAAAAAAAA I hope you're kidding. If not, that's the sweetest/silliest most Mary Sue thing I have ever read. *pats your head*

[169] -- Is that George Chakiris?? What is that?! It looks cool!!! O_O

104 - As far as anime guys go, DBZ definitely has the finest ones!

106 - I think I love you. XD

116 - That would be one badass pet! Totally go for it.

122 - OH MY GOD! I'm so glad I'm not the only one! XDD Well, for me it was 10 years of age, but nonetheless... It doesn't seem to have caused any lasting damage (er, aside from the obvious insanity, but I'm pretty sure that was there from the get-go!) But yeah, this secret makes me happy. Huzzah for early bloomers! XD *high fives you*

123 - Ahahahahahaha!

130 - I wonder this, as well...

137 - DO IT! DO IT! You won't regret it! :DD Reaper and Supernatural are both fantastically awesome; they deserve to be together!

138 - OH MY GOD IT'S LAMBCHOP!!!! I watched that show ALL THE TIME when I was a kid! :D (And shit, now I have the song that doesn't end stuck in my head.... x_x)

139 - Hahaha, aw, I loved that show. Watched it in high school. Ed was always my favorite (followed by Edd), but Eddy just annoyed me endlessly. (But if you're thinking of ugly shows, how about Ren and Stimpy?!? That shit is crazy nasty.)

140 - So many of these secrets are taking me back to my childhood. XD Late 80's/early 90s kids are the best!

141 - LOL

146 - Aww, there are gatherings for XKCD fans? D: I must find them!!

158 - This secret made me LOL because it is so freakin' true. XD (I still kinda like them all, but I have a passionate, neverending LOVE for EVA... and I think it's because of the message it tries to communicate. Screw life-affirmation!)

167 - ....... oh, sorry. I'm trying to find words to express just how EPIC this cross-over is, but... O_O HOLY SHIT! MOTHER FUCKIN' YES, PLEASE!

HERE WE GO AGAIN - YYYYY

What - Uh....? o.0 Lol?

TOO BIG #2 - HURR HURR, JAY-ROD'S TOO BIG! (we all knew that!)

Not!Fandom #1 - Technically wouldn't this be fandom? It's referencing the character Noah Bennet (fondly known as H.R.G.) from Heroes who was always going on about how there is NO right or wrong; he was very morally ambiguous. In other words, Noah Bennet is the reason why her dad can never be her hero.

[identity profile] callmejude.livejournal.com 2008-06-09 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
122. Glad I could help! XD I agree that there doesn't seem to be much lasting damage other than a perverted sense of humor and a very thorough knowledge of sex for a virgin. Haha.

"All the same"? You've GOT to be kidding. I hate NGE (and most of other mecha), and I think FLCL is nothing more than a crappy bunch of random references to a huge range of anime fandoms. And I've really enjoyed TTGL.

"POSITIVE" my ass. They spend eight episodes on introducing a char that is all kinds of cool, and then he dies with no hope for any dragon balls to bring him back. I'm 26, and I could see so much more in TTGL than just the growing up theme (that I don't really care about). A lot more, actually.

Re: 158

(Anonymous) 2008-06-10 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
OP : My problem with your argument against "positive" is they did that already in NGE, except the character's name was Toji, and he was around for a lot longer than 8 episodes so there was a lot more attachment. I honestly didn't care that Kamina died because he didn't develop that much, and so I had nothing to be attached to. My only thoughts on his death was, "Wow, they actually killed him? Weird!"

Though since you seem to have found so much more from GL, I would love to know what you saw in it. Most people have been saying to me, "GL just isn't that deep! It's just big robots fighting each other and it's fun! You're digging too deep, shut up and just enjoy!" so I'm very interested in what you got out of it.

Sadly and surprisingly, I find it to be true: most het fans turn out to be pathetic wankers that can't spell or express themselves otherwise. I'm not particularly a yaoi/yuri/het fan and I don't read fics, but I'm in the fanart thing for the art itself. Yet whenever I post anything on y!Gallery, I get tons of supportive comments that, you know, actually make sense; when I upload my stuff to HentaiFoundry or some other het artsite, I never get anything like this, I have to struggle even to read the comments, and no-one behaves like an actual thinking person.

The best way to get quality feedback on a het pic quickly is to upload it to Extras on y!Gallery, lol XD

105.) I have BPD, too, but I can see somewhat where you're coming from. I guess my reasoning would be that new fandoms would tear us apart. If it's getting to be a problem where you can't keep or maintain relationships, you should consider getting some help.

134.) Yeah, I haven't met too many het-only fans, and the ones I have seem so... strung up. I love me some het, but I also enjoy yaoi and shoujo-ai, too. Hahaha and You Higuri = fucking awesome.
