Let's be real, Billy Boyd as Pippin was the best of all the Fellowship. No competition.

He was amazing.

And that voice.

I was ridiculously in love with Pippin/Billy Boyd when I was 12. He was so endearing.

(Anonymous) 2017-08-26 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
He definitely was. I was obsessed with him years ago, he's lovely. Too bad he hasn't done much since. At least he has a band that's half decent.

Ah, diabetes. The chronic illness it's cool for everyone to joke about or make light of.

(Anonymous) 2017-08-25 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Get that chip off your shoulder. If a person actually ate like a Hobbit, diabetes would be a pretty likely outcomes sooner or later.

in middle earth? where elves, orks, dwarves, ect exist? diabetic hobbits is what you think we should focus on? I'll keep my chip and say any place that jokes about diabetes should piss off.

It is not a nice disease.

OP here

(Anonymous) 2017-08-25 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I was serious. I have a family history of type 2 diabetes and my A1C tests on the high side of "normal". I'm on medication and if I don't watch my diet and exercise regularly, I WILL end up diabetic.

It never ceases to amaze me how hard people will try to look for things to be offended by. Or at least, to claim to be offended by. I doubt you're actually upset as opposed to just trying to stir the pot. You do realize you don't get imaginary internet points for it here like you might on Tumblr, right?

this :(

(Anonymous) 2017-08-25 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
You could totally eat that many meals in a day, they'd just each have to be small, like 1/2 the size or less of a normal meal for a 3-meal-a-day person.

(Anonymous) 2017-08-25 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Which isn't what Hobbits do. Hobbit meals aren't exactly normal sensible people meals.

Sure, but that wouldn't be like a hobbit now, would it? ;)

Or be doing lots of hard laborious work, all day. That would warrant a lot of meals, even moderate to big ones.

(Anonymous) 2017-08-25 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
When I first saw the movie, I thought second breakfast was made up and only recently found out that it's a real thing.

(Anonymous) 2017-08-26 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
I think it's supposed to be common on farms and other places where people have to get up really early.

In college, I'd often eat two breakfasts on days when I had an early class. I'm not a morning person, so I usually didn't have my shit together in time to eat a large breakfast before class, so I'd just have some toast or yogurt or something, then come back to the dining hall after class and have a second breakfast, like maybe something with an egg in it and some fruit. They were both small meals, though.

I'd often split lunch into two meals around classes, too. I'd still eat that way (more smaller meals) if someone else was preparing all the food for me!

Yeah, it's totally a thing. But it generally isn't two full-size meals. Breakfast's usually something small - like, any other part of the day you'd probably call it a snack, but you're breaking your night's fast so it's breakfast - to help you get woke up and moving, and then a couple hours later you have an actual proper meal.

(Anonymous) 2017-08-26 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
Move to northern-eastern Poland OP! Or not.

My family's standard meal schedule is:

6/8 AM (depends on working day) - breakfast
10ish AM - second breakfast
(both can by anything breakfasty)
12ish AM - lunch which is usually soup. You'd think it's not that bad but they do deep and big plates, add cream, potato and carrot chunks
2 PM - dinner which is often meat with mash with veggies
3 PM - coffee and cake
7 PM - supper which is often sandwiches or pancakes

Nope, they do not work out and are perfectly average weight wise. I am not counting days where they take trips as anything longer than an hour means an extra sandwich for every half an hour. Mum has a collection of photos of her brother and his wife stopping to eat sandwiches every 15 minutes near various landmarks. They made them before leaving. We have a lot of cheap shops where you can get a pastry for up to 50p.

Poland sounds amazing!!!!

But if they don't work out a lot, do they still do a lot of activity in their usual day? Because if they are naturally active that could mitigate weight gain.
