Too many selfies on a non-personal blog. It was clear he did it for the self esteem boost, which was both annoying and a bit pathetic.

Not really. I mean I agree that selfies belong on a personal blog. But calling them pathetic for trying to do it to boost their self esteem is shitty and makes you sound like a dick.

Too many reblogs of those twee-as-fuck posts of "I'm soooooo GAY I love GIRLS my personality is LESBIAN uwuwuwuwuwu"

There was a character we both loved but disagreed on whether that character was going to get a redemption arc (they were for it, me against it). A while later they ended up making a post talking about how obvious the character was going to get a redemption arc in such a condescending way.

Despite genuinely liking them and getting along with them, I noped out after that post. They were one of the few mutuals I had.

Now I want to know who was right. Did the character get a redemption arc?

They got too negative for me. Pathetically, it wasn't even about the world, just fandom stuff. Almost daily, it was just "God, X sucks donkey schlongs and someone should've run Y director out of the country, his stuff makes me want to shit in a nun's face and throw 45456632856 kittens into the sun!" It was worse when it was a series we all used to love, and it was uncomfortable just hearing him go on and on about what trash it was, when all I wanted to do was gush and bond with him over it.

I don't have a lot of mutuals, but if I unfollow someone it's because they have too much posting that takes over my feed so I never see anything else, or too much NSFW content. That, or constant gifs to shows/movies I'm very not interested in. (Too many gifsets don't load well and make my machine crash sometimes).

They eventually turned out to have this attitude toward political opinions as well (and was annoyingly conservative) so I dodged a bullet.

Sometimes people's attitudes with small things can hint at their attitude toward bigger things.

Pothead obsessed with pot. I don't care if you smoke, but there's a certain type of smoker who thinks it's so incredibly fascinating that's all they talk about. So... posts about how you're going to blaze it, photos of bud with "omg drool!!!" captions... I don't think they realize quite how sad and boring they sound, but if you're not going to tag that crap, I'm out.

They kept posting that "There's no such thing as talent/natural ability! Anyone can achieve anything with hard work!" inspirational bullcrap I hate.
How 'good' you are at something is very complicated and involves a lot of factors and trying to reduce it to laziness or motivation is obnoxious.

I agree, that is annoying. I mean, I also think some people take it too far in the other direction, basically acting like natural talent is everything. And I can definitely see how that would be really annoying for people who've busted their asses (naturally talented or not) to succeed.

I guess to me either extreme is equally annoying.

I agree. Sometimes people use this to shame other people for not succeeding at sometime. Sometimes people use it as a fairytale to fool themselves into thinking that everything and anything is possible, no matter what. Either way, it's simplistic and obnoxious.

Too much "woe is me" stuff. We all have our bad days and days where the world has turned to shit and we need to vent about it. I get that. But if it's all you blog about, then I'm going to unfollow.
