Columbo leaves L.A. for the U.K. and winds up getting involved in a murder case there. Naturally, this also involves Shakespeare, because a show may be clever but can still resort to cliche at times. Not that this is always a bad thing, though.

There are names I dislike, but I tend to judge the parents who gave their kid a shitty name instead of people who are stuck with shitty names. That said, I have never known a good person named Kevin.

The Kettering Incident. I find reviews of the show and I think I once found a Reddit thread through Google but I can never find anyone else who actually saw it.

I think part of the problem is that it came out around the same time as Stranger Things and had vaguely similar themes. (They're not really much alike though.)

Basically it's about a doctor who is having memory issues, who goes back to her hometown in Tasmania. She remembers her friend who disappeared when they were kids, that people think may have been abducted by aliens. (That makes it sound a lot more generic and predictable than it actually is though.)

The Severing Crime Edge, the manga. People know about the anime, which they usually say sucks, but no one knows about the manga. It's one of the few fantasy stories I've seen that takes mental illness as a central subject and manages not to be offensive.

Sorry to bring the mood down but just needed to vent/get some advice. I've been treated for depression/suicidal thoughts in the past, tried antidepressants, stopped them when I felt I was "getting better" which was probably a dumb move. Took an overdose last summer which I instantly regretted. Used to self-harm but have managed not to for a year and a half.

Basically I just feel like it's come back with a vengeance recently. I'm against self-diagnosing but I'm starting to wonder if there's a possibility of bipolar, since on my good days I feel fucking invincible and productive and brilliant, then a few hours later it's like I'm in a fucking pit and there's absolutely no way out and I'm completely inconsolable. There's also the issue that I've since developed a reliance on alcohol/drugs that I know I'd have to give up if I went back on medication.

I just. Ugh. It's like this huge thing that I know I need to start getting sorted, but it's going to be such a long process and the idea of going sober scares me shitless. I don't know where to start. I don't know if I'd be able to function sober. I don't know who would support me through this. I don't know how I got here and I feel like such an idiot. Sorry.

I hate my neighbors

Or at least whichever neighbor stole my trashcan again, after I called the city hotline, confirmed the can serial numbers associated with my address, took it back and spraypainted our house number on it. I leave one trashcan outside the fence because I'm on the corner lot across the street from a middle school and rec center, which also serves as a homeless hangout, and if there's no trashcan people pretty reliably fill my bushes with plastic cups, bottles, baggies of dogshit, beercans, and random debris.

At least if I leave a can out I have less rooting around in the bushes for other people's garbage on trash day. I just hope I get it back, they cost $70, the city requires that we have them, and I don't have a car. Home Depot charges $70 to make home deliveries. I make $1,200/mo and spent my last paycheck paying off more of my dead mom's medical bills. I'm living off leftovers until I get paid, trying to save something from my next paycheck to pay my mom's lawyer so I can officially transfer mom's house to my name.

Between the persistent trashcan thief, the fucker who keeps flying his drone over and through my yard (and bounced it off my sliding glass door, after dark, a month ago, and scared the shit out of me and my cat) the people using my bushes as their landfill, and the people who steal whatever fruit and flowers they can reach, I'd almost want to sell up and move but the house is all that's left of my family and the only thing that kept me alive sometimes when I was dealing with the worst of my parents' addictions was the thought of fixing up the house and living here until I died of old age.
