People who expect cats to be dogs and then get annoyed when they aren't. People who want any animal to be something they aren't and then blame the animal. People who think it is funny to talk about how much they hate cats and to make jokes about killing them.

Lol, if people want something that's like a dog, they should have a kid. It's more or less the same thing imo. xDD You teach them tricks, feed them, clean them a lot, scold them, treat them, do fun things with them, and will probably chase them off of things they shouldn't be on more often than not - and during potty training, rip your floors. xDDD

.-. One of my sisters had a friend who deeply disturbed me when she revealed to me that she had always wanted to 'pop' a cat's paw pad. And like, to make it creepier, she gave from a very religious family. x.x

Also, my other sis hates cats and is constantly talking about how she can't wait for ours to die. =(

I like dogs, but I like cats too. And they aren't the same thing. You have to expect differences from different animals. To not realize this is stupid and totally not the cats fault.

I know several people who think cat death "jokes" are funny. I don't care if you don't like cats. We all have things we don't like. But those are not jokes and are not funny.

I fully agree with you on both points.

no dog ever called me a witch, told me I was ugly or pointed at me and started screaming.

In fairness, I never had a child do those things to me either. But not all kids are the same, the same can be said for dogs. (But I do understand your point - sorry that's happened to you. *sadface*)

and even if dogs could throw, I'm sure none would ever throw a hard plastic toy at me and hit me right in the face with it.

I'll extend that into inability to read both cats and dogs (and other animals) - or rather, reading their actions (and "facial expressions") from a human perspective. It's a little annoying when you get the "oh my dog just broke something and now looks so guilty!" or whatever. Really frustrating when it's shoving negative characteristics on the animal. Your cat is not a manipulative and vengeful bitch who wants to kill you. If your cat keeps biting you, read the situation better. Are you petting it after it tries to signal to you that it doesn't want any more? Are you raising your voice (even jokingly, because Cleo and Fido can't tell you're joking when you start yelling and acting threateningly) or advancing on them in a way that looks aggressive? etc.

I agree 100%. That was part of the problem with Joanna's previous owners. She wanted to sit on laps, and they read that as her trying to be annoying and not listening to them on purpose when all she was doing was telling them what she needed. You can't make an indoor cat an outdoor cat. It just doesn't work. She already seems so much happier.

Re: Pet Peeves

Ugh, yeah. I understand having a preference for one over the other, but I hate the whole "cats are evil, cats have no soul, etc" thing... especially when people only think that because cats are independent or less easy to read than dogs. That... doesn't make them the spawn of Satan.

Yup. And cats have personality, same as dogs. They are not all one faceless mob. You just have to take the time to get to know them. Find out what they need and makes them happy, and they'll love you forever.

Re: Pet Peeves

(Anonymous) 2017-11-16 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, my cats have very distinct personalities :D. It's fun to see how they'll both respond to certain things that my mom or I do, or how they each like to play and cuddle and relax and whatnot.

I completely agree with you and everyone else here. I've owned both dogs and cats, and there are notable differences between them, for sure. Some people can handle taking care of both, others might have an easier time with one over the other.

But even if one has their personal preference between dogs and cats, the fact is that they're still both wonderful, sweet, fun animals in their own ways.

And I also agree that joking about killing animals is just not cool :(.

I wish more people understood this, cats aren't dogs and won't behave like dogs, if you want something that behaves like a dog then get a fucking dog.

And the whole 'cats are evil' bs is just tiring, no they are not the spawn of satan, no my cats don't try to kill me every day(mostly they want food and pets/cuddles), and like dogs they have their own personalities that you'll learn and figure out.

On the flip side, I hate it when people call friendly, snuggly, playful cats "dogs in cat bodies". Like no, my cat isn't secretly a dog. He's a cat, because cats can be (and often are) playful, loving, and cuddly.

Agreed. My cat is a lap cat, but she's still such a complete cat.

Is this the cat you rescued and were trying to get to the shelter? Are you keeping her?

Yep. Every cat I've had thus far has been quite cuddly :). And when they want to snuggle, they WILL let you know :p.
