133) I've been thinking about dropping people for a while now. It's not that I don't care but...ok, it is. I honestly don't give a shit about your kids or your marriage or the classes you're teaching or your boring and frankly, overly-detailed post about your newly discovered health problems (mental AND physical). It's not even a problem of TMI, it's the simple fact that before I friended you, I didn't ask about RL, I asked about fandom preferences. We bonded over our mutual love of the same show and books and characters and OTP, not your fucking job. You don't see me posting everytime I hang out with buddies or overindulge in alcoholic drinks with friends or the thousand other things that seem terribly fun and fascinating to a college gal like me but probably not to my f-list, who all probably frowns upon hobbies like kegstanding.

Personally, I won't think you're shallow/lack a RL if you only post fandom-related things. I kind of expect that because this is LJ, not Facebook. I don't ramble about fandom to my RL friends who couldn't care less, why would I do the same to my f-list?

Conditionals: I don't want to drop people, and some people write so entertainingly about anything that I would read their grocery lists if that's what they posted, because they would be the wittiest grocery lists. And it's nice to be there for people who are crisising or venting, because one day I may want to do the same and I'll be grateful if people have words of support for me, remembering that I had them for them when they needed such words. I post stuff on lj that lets others share the squee. 133 - I mostly agree. I personally want people to post about their lives. I've never been into LJ just for fandom. That said... I do understand people who feel the other way about it, and I don't think that anyone is particularly shallow for posting fandom stuff. And I don't mind the fandom stuff that pops up on my flist, even things related to fandoms I know nothing about.
