135. I wish I was good enough at Japanese to pass for a native of Japan, although I wouldn't pretend to be a Japanese person. That aside, it's been said a million times, but I'll say it again: if the people you call friends think less of you over something like loving to draw Yu-Gi-Oh!, you might want to look into finding some better friends. :/ Whenever anyone I know gives me crap about liking it, I tell them, "There are worse things I could be doing."

Bear in mind that most people who go to see musicals have never gone to non-musical theatre shows. The genre has a gaudy, circus, "bums on seats" sort of mentality to fill the theater with people. Any people. Thusly, a certain amount of theatrical mediocrity in performance is made up for by pretty costumes and pyrotechnics because that's what Average Joe "Let's go see the Lion King on Broadway and get us some culture!" is looking for.

I honestly liked the dub, but I can see why people don't like it. It's not a good example of a dub, they changed A LOT of things about the series. They took away opportunities for kids to learn about Japanese culture, and they altered the characters and the plot. A good dub should leave things alone. But the fact is, I watched the dub, and I grew very attached to whiny, hypochondriac Joe. I don't care too much about Jyou, who is apparently a lot saner. The Japanese voices also annoy me, especially those of the Digimon, and Taichi. Some of them are good--Maeda Ai and Wada Koji are infinitely better singers than whoever did the Digimon Rap. But still, I think it's perfectly fair for someone to dislike the dub, or to like it.

I've become convinced that I am the only remaining fan in my fandom (Maximum Ride) who ships everyone, and has considered what kinks most of the characters would have.

(The eight-year-old is or will be into bloodplay. The mad scientist is into bondage and masochism. The six-year-old girl will grow up to be a high-paid whore who uses her ridiculous powers -- mind-control and transformation -- to get people off.)

So you're not all that alone in feeling like the sole pervert... but we're totally not in the same fandom. D8. Damn.
