Who are you? I'll be your friend without the whole "omg you're so amazing" crap. Honestly, in a fandom as small as furry, I don't really get all the fanboying/girling over the artists/fursuit makers, etc. We're all just people who have the same interest, after all, even if some of us are more talented than others. It's nice to be recognized, yes, but there's a difference between that and being put up on a pedestal...

163. I didn't laugh, but I cheered. Not that I hate the character who died--I love him only slightly less than the other and I walked around in a daze that they'd really gone through with it--but because it was exactly the way that storyline HAD to end. I'm still orgasmic over it; it was perfect.

123 - Fuck Dubs. I forced myself to sit through one dub, and never again. I'd sooner watch it raw and then read a synopsis.

127 - Wow, an Ayatsuri Sakon secret! I don't know who she is (and I can't find any episodes past 14 that will work for me), so I can't love/hate her (unless she did show up in those first few episodes and I don't remember her).

130 - There's a lot of people who look prettier when they age.

148 - I loved that episode!

167 - Oooh I hate "Chappie" and "Ficcie". I also can't stand "Eppie" or "Eppy" (though I find myself using "Epi" sometimes). Really, cut that shit the fuck out! I could see if the words were shorter, but damn. Chappie vs. Chapter - that's the same damn amount of letters and that's terrible! Ficcie vs. Fiction - a one letter difference! Even better? Fic.

Still, if the fic is extraordinarily good, I can forgive it. But it makes me cringe every time.

I dunno, man, I kind of flip flop over the whole dubbing thing. It's best to take it on a case by case basis, really. I generally try something in Japanese first, and if it irritates the hell out of me, I'll try the dub. I'd rather stick knitting needles in my ears than watch the Naruto dub, but I found the Japanese voicing of Quatre and Goku far too grating and unbearable to listen to in the original Japanese forms of Gundam Wing and Saiyuki. And what do you know, I actually liked the Saiyuki dub. I don't think it's fair to judge them all on one crappy dub. Obviously, if it was dubbed/diluted for a kiddie audience, that's a different matter entirely.

I still have clearly worked out theories that lie somewhere between Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Animanaics for defining Toon physics as they relate to the real world, etc (ie: Toons do the acting, animators are like special effects people, etc). Largely, it's for a fic that will never get written, but still...

151. Um. See, you missed the point. Doctor Who is ridiculous. It was always supposed to be. That's part of what it is, and hey, sometimes it takes the time to mock itself, and that's grand. It's a ridiculous premisis and occassionally overexaggerated characters, but every one of them--every single one (well, one minor exception)--is a real, three dimensional character, developed and "human" and believable. I watch characters in Doctor Who and think "I know that person! I know people just like that!" or "Yeah, that is what I'd do. I'm not proud of it, but that's probably exactly what I'd do." Doctor Who is whimsical.
What's ridiculous about Twilight isn't the premisis. The premisis is basic. Honestly, ridiculous isn't the word I would use, except for the Sparkly Vampires thing, and truthfully, a good writer could've actually made me accept that. They're just bad. They'e poorly written on a technical level--the prose reads like a 15-year-old's fanfic--and the characters themselves are unbelievable, undeveloped, and unlikeable.

Ridiculous? Fables is ridiculous. My favourite part is when Santa Claus tells the Frog Prince that he's going to save the world maybe. But it's one of the best written things out there. Ridiculous stories are good, especially if the writers know they're ridiculous. Ridiculous, in a word, is good. Just make me believe it.
