Everyone should have unimpeded access to good medical care, birth control, housing, financial aid if they are unable to work temporarily or permanently, clean water, power, care if they are elderly or disabled, important medication, mental health care, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, public transport, legal and financial advice, education and training, and probably a whole bunch of other crap I've forgotten but it doesn't matter.

The basic idea is that we should take care of people and not let them suffer unnecessarily. I give no shits about politics. I just think we should all give a shit about other people.

cooked tomatoes are disgusting, no matter how they're prepared or what they're cooked with. restaurants should stop being so obsessed with using them in almost every dish!

I got all my chores done today: washing dishes, laundry, got my hair did and a mani-pedi. I went for a walk this morning and got Starbucks as a treat. Since I got everything done today, I have tomorrow free, so I'm going to get sushi and maybe watch a couple of movies.

Nothing except stress out at work because I don't know how they are going to deal with the problems we are having. I really hope I don't lose my job. :(

I had a crappy day at work, but I managed to snag tickets to see The Pillows, so now I'm on cloud nine. :)

Work, like usual. But *after* work? I watched The Towering Inferno! The one from '74. And you know what? It's pretty damn diverse. A lot of tv shows now woudln't have so many black or hispanic people in the cast (they'd maybe have one for that affirmative action look).

And the minority people that *are* in the cast? Are not stereotypes or caricatures. And the women? Are not hysterical or stupid, they're tough and brave. Also? Even though she's only in the first part, there's a deaf woman with two kids and she uses sign with her kids and nobody is freaked or thinks she's a bad mom.

It's just...really refreshing, in a weird way, and somehow just better than a lot of more modern stuff. (Plus, holy gods, it is *so very 70's! The orange and harvest gold! The hair! The big-pocketed jackets on the men!! I luff.)

Well, I'm still at work (*grunbledeadlinegrumble*) but within the past 24-ish hours, I have baked biscotti, invented a sort of orange sauce to pour on the chicken, veggies, and rice I'd made for lunch for the week back on Sunday, since I was out of peanut sauce and needed a use for the orange I zested for the biscotti, and then watched the second half of both Monday's episode of Elementary and Blade Runner 2049, which I'd DVRed and hadn't finished yet.

Now I'm going to go home, have a late dinner of boxed mac and cheese, and go to be.

I’ve been having a very bad last couple of weeks, and it feels like whenever I hope something will go well it just gets worse - but today I was finally paid so I finally had more than 75 cents in my account so I walked to the corner store to buy myself a cold soda, which I did... and then when I got it home and opened it it exploded, with lit literally shooting directly at my chest, all over my white shirt. So now I’m sobbing because I can’t even buy myself a fucking Dr Pepper without the universe finding some way to fuck it up for me. I really can’t do anything right! And I feel dumb for crying over a fucking soda but here we are.

Why is lying and spreading deliberate misinformation okay?(vent)

I know this is a few days late, but I want to thank everyone who commented on my post about my cat's death. It meant a lot to me. ♥ I'm still pretty busted up about losing my little buddy like that, especially so soon after I lost my horse, Sharif. Max had his quirks and was a total Chaos Kitten, but he was one of the sweetest, cuddliest, most love-starved cats I've ever met, and was right from the moment I met him. I got him at a yard sale in May of 2008. He was 3 months old and in a crate with all of his brothers and sisters, and I asked the owner if there were any female kittens left. She said they were in the back of the crate, but the second I opened the door Max leapt into my arms and started headbutting me and purring as hard as he could, and that was that. I never even saw what his sisters looked like. He was a feisty little scamp from the get-go, and he never quite grew out of his playful kitten stage, even when he was diagnosed with diabetes two years ago. He was the best little cuddle-buddy I ever had (though he would get very offended if I moved without his permission, how very dare I) and didn't deserve a single second of the pain he went through in the days before his death. I don't think I'll ever be able to get the sound of his cries out of my head, or forgive myself for not being able to alleviate his suffering no matter how hard I tried.

I'm sorry, Max. You deserved better.
