145. Gambit needs to GTFO the Wolverine movie. Same with not*Beak. Deadpool can stay.<3

154. Del Toro should hand the Hobbit over to Jackson, so he can make a movie with Lobster Johnson and Roger the Homonculous.

160. Azumanga Daioh was seriously better and actually deserves its attention.

172. Agreed. Eckhart was the real star of the film. :)

155--I do agree with this comment, but I more want to know where you found that picture. I've seen it before, but I can't place where...

I believe I found it on a google search, actually! But the painting itself is by Dali, if that helps :)

OMG! I know who you're talking about! You are wise to post anonymously. The sheer amount of wank she would create if she knew who you were would be intolerable. I won't even mention the wank chain reaction that would be created by her followers and fangirls. Just do what I do -- don't read anymore.

103. You and me and everyone who's seen Scrubs. *siiiiiiiiigh*

112. EUREKA!

121. You're a serial killer, of course. The sweet thing is a ruse to fool your victims.

130. Dude, he's Cillian Murphy. How could you NOT want to hit that?

Unless you mean the character. Since I don't know who the character is, maybe you have a point.

Also. Take back the Britney comment. Do it.

136. Actually, I wish I could go back and read this one Mary Sue fic I wrote when I was twelve for the Inuyasha fandom. Unfortunately for me, I deleted it from FF.net, and I don't have the original files. Baaaaw. I don't think it'd bring pain, necessarily; I'd compare it to my current work and be happy that I've come pretty far.

And I'm twitchy about showing people my writing, too. Not that I doubt it, but it's not stuff I'd show my friends or family.

138. IAWTS. Hellooooo, Caspie.

172. Eckhart definitely deserves credit for a very fine role. While the Joker was my personal favorite, I also cheered on the inside when he was on the screen.

118) You seem like a very nice and rational person, so I will only say it a little bit. learn2history, just a little.

I haven't seen Conqueror of Shamballa in a while, but I do recall what you're saying about Al. The movie takes place in 1923, before + during the Beer Hall Putsch which was basically (and i'm tl;dring here) an enormous failparty that got Hitler thrown into prison. It wasn't until 10 years after that (Hitler out of prison, political maneuverings to get nazi seats into the reichstag, etc etc) that Hitler would have come to power, and 2 years after that until the Nuremburg laws were created- I'm personally confident that Alphonse as a character wouldn't have advocated the slaughter of innocent people that would occur twelve years in the future. You should let yourself like him. But uh tl;dr being a pre-WW2 patriotic German = hard and also =/= bad.

THERE WAS A POINT TO THIS, I SWEAR. :(

I've only seen Azumanga Daioh and Lucky Star, and Azumanga left me completely cold. I didn't think it was funny at all, I didn't like any of the characters, and I didn't like the animation style.

I loved Lucky Star.

Good ones today. 137, 101, 103, 108, 143, 174

137: IAWTS SO FUCKING MUCH. I watched it again last night cause it was on SciFi and I was like, SHE SAID NO SHE SAID NO SHE SAID NO!!! Tori Amos needs to come and write a song about her plight.

101: Lol. Yes, this. I'm so afraid people will find all my secrets. :X

103: My best friend and I are like this too. Black people + Jewish people 4eva! I like seeing secrets like this instead of "My friend and I are like House and Wilson, omfg!" secrets.

108: I think it's because the SW fandom is too cool for this bullshit. At least, I am! I don't even know what that second picture is. Is that some EU crap? I thought NJO is lame as hale and I only find out about it through Wookieepedia. Lol is bad fan bad?

143: Yes. Lusting after serial killers is one thing, lusting after rapists is another thing. *shudder* I'm scared about the Watchmen movie because you know there will be a buncha bitches squeeing over shit when they should really be reading the source material and getting smarter.

174: I know so many straight girls who have said the same thing. It's ridiculous. :D *Ridiculous as in RIDICULOUSLY RIGHT!

RE: 108
That's what I do, too! I can't stand reading the books. Everyone is either dead or on the dark side. The whole original gang has been ripped to shreds. It's no fun anymore.

Agree so hard about the SW fandom being too cool for that. (At least, I think OT fans are.)

160 and 165

[identity profile] anemoneoflight.livejournal.com 2008-08-03 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
160) Same here. Lucky Star cute, don't get me wrong but it uses anime references as a crutch pretty often. I haven't gotten all the way through it because frankly, i don't find it to be worth my time. Azumanga Daioh, on the other hand, is worth all the attention it gets. I'll ahve to check out the series in the middle as well. Also, I stonrgly recommend Sayonara Zetsubou Shita if you haven't seen it already. It's dark humor and has a small fandom but I do find it to be very enjoyable. <3

165) I felt the same feeling just a week ago. Luckily, I caved and just got back into the series. I think I have even more passion for the series than I did back then. :D

104. Aw, childhood fandom. I always cried listening to this song. Though ... What's wrong with "best friends forever"? I can see all the other mistakes, but I always thought it was that line.

152. I think we speak the same language. 8D

[identity profile] midnight-birth.livejournal.com 2008-08-03 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
1. I used to too. Then I stopped caring. A lot of people I know try to separate the fandom world from RL and keep it secret, but I suppose I don't really care anymore. It's something I do. I'm not going to be ashamed of. My journal is public. All my fic is easily accessible for anyone willing to look. And, you know, I thought people would have a problem with it, but they really don't. It's just something I assumed would happen.

121. I relate to darker characters a lot, too. In fact, serial killers very often have one of the most complex, brilliant and complicated minds. If you can relate to who they are and not what they do, I wouldn't be too worried. I mean, Hannibal Lecter is one of my fictional heroes, and one of the characters I've related to most over the years. Until I get the urge to actually eat someone, I don't see if there's anything to worry about.

122. I don't know if I get mobbed for this, or what, but the movie was very very bad. Even from a point of view of a die-hard fan. It could be that half the people didn't want to ruin something for themselves that I sincerely believed should've been left alone at its finished phase and not dug up and raped. The other half didn't go see it because people like me said things like this. :P

136. Don't be silly. If anything, go back and read it to see how much you've improved and how far you've come. At a younger age, all of us wrote gibberish. And all of us thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. It doesn't mean your taste sucks, or you're incapable of objective self-criticism. All it means is that you were once a KID. Learn to look back on those times and those stories and laugh. Believe me. Think of the best writers (in fandom and not) that you admire. They all started somewhere, and most of it was NOT good.

138. Me too!! :O I was completely taken aback when I first found out that they got a 27-year-old to play a character meant to be 13, and made the character to be in his 20s, too. But I forgot all that. The man is perfect.

141. I'm too attached to Joker as a character. He never appeared without make-up in the comics. He couldn't. But yes, scars? YES.

146. Yes. I didn't see Old Who. But I didn't need to to see how horrible the acting, CGI, and plot was. And when you subtract all that, what the hell are you left with? Pretty people? I never got the appeal of this show.

148. -_-0. You know, I've read ALL the Batman comics ever made, I'm pretty sure. And I can't see, from a technical point of view, how anyone could think he completely raped the character. Granted, he is very different from Bill Finger, Bob Kane and Jerry Robinson's original Joker. But what I find a lot of people are ignorant about is that Heath wasn't portraying the original Joker (as Jack Nicholson, for example, was). The Dark Knight is actually based on a Batman series by Frank Miller, where he reinvents the characters he uses. Yes, he models his Joker on the original, but he has something of his own contributes as well. So I don't know if you're aware of this, but I meet a lot of people who are not, and they drive me nuts when they go bellowing "This Joker is nothing like Bill Finger's". He ISN'T. He wasn't meant to be. Being the hugest fan of the Joker for years, I can see small bits and pieces of discrepancies, but not so large.

Also? For you to say you're glad he's dead because you don't like his acting and don't want to see it? Ignorant and cruel. Have you never lost anyone in your life? What is the matter with you?? Not to mention that Heath portrayed the Joker as he was written on the SCRIPT, which is really a lot of the director's fault, if you need to go wish death on people.

155. I agree. But some people don't know how to grieve.

170. YES.

172. Depends on what you're talking about, for me. I didn't feel he really caught or embrace the character of "Two-Face" for me. Partly the director's fault for giving Two-Face such a small part. As an actor, I thought he was great. But no spectacular.

This is a very special message just for you, OP of 146. I want to make sure you listen to it all the way through so you grasp the whole message:

And don't tell me I can't enjoy my Ninth Doctor stories when Old Who made me suffer both Colin Baker and Sylvester Fucking McCoy.

(Anonymous) 2008-08-03 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Colin was fine, but suffered from poor writing, bad costuming, a lowered budget, and BBC politics.

...as my second- or third-least-favorite Doctor, I judiciously say nothing about McCoy. I like the seventh Doctor more in the "Christmas Day at Doctor Who's" sketch than I did during his entire run.

I just.... he just.......... words.....

[identity profile] etherealtsuki.livejournal.com 2008-08-03 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
101. I understand the hardcore smut part. Seriously.

103. Me too, ;_;, me too.

108. Too bad the Fail of the three movies ruined my perception of Vader. God, I can't expect anything good out of the new movie.

111. I admit it was more learning Japanese corrupting my speech patterns by doing some cute feminine non-verbal sounds at times.

116. D: I liked her....

117. Dude, with the tens and tens of guys in that series and like total of recurring females you can count on one hand (not to mention that they don't get much interaction with them either), are you surprised that the slashing would be dominant? Honestly.

119. Mischief Makers ♥♥♥♥♥! I still have the game and didn't pass it. I should now because of this awesome secret~!

136. You shouldn't think of it that way. Your teach prolly saw the potential and wanted to nurture it. Yeah, you're weren't writing masterpieces at a younger age and that's not a bad thing. I, once in a blue moon, go back and read the fics and pics that I written and draw and marvel how far I come. My family, teachers and friends gave me positive feedback (my teachers constructive criticism) every time and I thank them for it because it gave me the drive to push forward to get better. Just because my teacher have me a A+ for a story I've written at 15 and praising it, doesn't mean she was lying. For her, it was one great piece coming from a 15 year old and wanted to encouraged me.

So looking back is a great thing. The moment you realize it was horrible writing is a moment you GREW as a writer because you knew what was wrong and you can find a way to fix it.

148. ಠ_ಠ

155. It's not that it's a competition. It's more like "I feel bad that I felt more for a fictional character's death than my family member's death. Well, fuck." You're not going to grieve for something the exact level. Like I grieved more on event of the Eclipse in Beserk than my maternal grandfather's mother's death because I had emotional investment in those characters in Beserk than my relationship with my great-grandmother that I very rarely met or talked to. Propriety dictate this should be the opposite. It's odd but true and it wasn't an competition.

156. I can see why someone who dislike it but I love it. Kino. ;_;

160. I watched Lucky Star for everyone in Yutaka's grade. But I guess that the anime references resonated with the fans, but I agree it's not as good as those first three.

165. I still love it and I'm not ashamed. It was very entertaining.

167. I don't like anime for the fanbase nor let it ruin it for me.

Not!Fandom #1: LOL

Not!Fandom #3: ಠ_ಠ.....

101. I feel exactly the same. SO paranoid. I hate people using my computer. I make them get onto the guest account just to check their email. That's how paranoid I am. You are not alone!

173. I can't say which performance is better, but I hate how Aaron Eckhart's performance is being largely ignored. :/ I adore him and I BELIEVE IN HARVEY DENT and it just makes me sad he's getting so little attention.
