I’m curious about what you mean by “named users have an even greater responsibility to speak up,” OP. Do you mean anyone who feels comfortable enough commenting while logged in? Because frankly, I thought one of the purposes of F!S was to give people a place to vent anonymously things that they would never say in their usual fandom spaces under their main fandom handle, and that includes as responses to secrets. Sometimes those things are going to be really snarky or unkind. *shrugs* Not a lot anyone can do about that.

eh, it's a comm that focuses on secrets and people stating their opinions on said secrets, and sometimes people's opinions will be "well, that's fucking dumb". and i don't think that needs to be censored?

i also don't necessarily think that "named" users should be doing bonus policing. it's not their comm, it's not their responsibility, and it's not like every person who logs in is necessarily a shining example of kindness. again, not that they have to be, honest opinions are part of the point.

If they are actually a troll, ignoring them is the only thing they don't want you to do. If they're just an asshole... I can't say it would really help? It defends on the context but I don't really think people hold back that much here if they see a comment that bothers them.

a) I'm not a mod. None of the named users are mods. It's not our responsibility to make sure the nonnies play nice.

b) Where is this trolling that Case doesn't promptly clean up? Because he shuts down the really nasty toxic shit with a quickness. Other stuff, there's not a lot he can do about. Some people are mean on the internet, but that doesn't make them trolls.
