122: I like the Weasleys, but Percy is my favorite. And I agree with the part of your secret about him completely. I have gotten into verbal sparring matches defending him before. :P I mean, in GoF, after the second challenge, Percy made a bit of fool of himself when he went to make sure Ron was all right. And Percy was a judge, who knew that nothing would hurt the people in the water, but he was still worried.

I just feel bad that he did pretty much everything his parents asked of him growing up He's a middle child who grew up in an era of fear, his other siblings had all paired off. And I'm sure Molly expected a lot of him when helping her with the Twins, leading to an aura of authority.

I could go on for ages...but I won't. :P

I can see why someone might feel that way and I don't begrudge your opinion, but I think Kate and Jessica's stories were really well handled. I also don't think the reasons why Kate became a superhero and Jessica isn't one anymore can be boiled down to "rape." Especially in Jessica's case, as her storyline was dealt with much more explicitly than Kate's.

168. Okay, I admit I was a bit dubious on the concept from the start.

But that was only because I didn't realize how awesome it was.

(SRS BNS: I think it has a lot to do with encompassing the entire megaten franchise so there are plenty of characters to choose from, and plenty of crack to be had without rehashing the storylines that appeared in the games themselves. Also, it is totally without rules other than be nice to each other and don't be retarded, which everyone obeys. So. Much. Crack.)

148. You're not alone. I'm okay with both slash and het, but I am right with you there on hating everything styled as "yaoi". Honestly, "yaoi manga", "seme", and "uke" are practically swear words in my dictionary. Honestly, the whole production fangirls make out of it is just embarrassing.

I want to enjoy the aesthetic quietly, and with respect to what the characters are actually like, and discuss the character dynamics that make me ship the pairing. Why does yaoi fandom at large throw that out the window so much?

My parents bought me pretty much any book I wanted, and we sang old songs and stuff from musicals, but pop music was a foreign landscape to them and getting deep into fandom was really frowned upon. I was the only Trekkie in my middle school...I didn't even hear the term until years after. About when I started meeting and befriending people who had the same kind of family fandom memories you describe. I sort of felt cheated, even though I know I wasn't.
